Runner's Knee - 7 Ways To Treat It!

If you are thinking that runner’s knee pain can ony happen to runners or sportsmen, then you are wrong. It can happen to anyone who spends time in doing things that involve bending the knees. It can happen due to activities like walking, biking and jumping. It refers to an aching pain around the kneecap. In medical terms, it is also called patellofemoral pain syndrome.

It doesn’t refer to a particular injury. It is an umbrella term to refer to any pain that happens during knee problems. Here are some of the reasons responsible for runner’s kneecap:

  1. High stress exercises, such as lunges or plyometrics
  2. Direct hit in the knee.
  3. If any of the bones are out of their correct position.
  4. Hypermobile feet and fallen arches or overpronation can cause joint pain as they change the way you walk.
  5. Weak or unbalanced thigh muscles.

What Are the Symptoms of runner's knee?

  1. You can feel the pain in front, behind, or around the kneecap
  2. Pain is felt when you walk, squat, kneel, run, or get up from a chair
  3. Pain is felt when you walk downstairs
  4. Swelling around your knee or a grinding feeling inside the joint

Diagnosis:
It can be diagnosed through physical examination and might require X-rays, MRIs, or CT scans.

What's the treatment for runner's knee?

  1. In most cases, runner’s knee gets better with time. However, the cause of the pain must be identified and then the treatment is done. Here’s what can be done:
  2. Give rest to your knees. It is best to avoid activities that cause the pain.
  3. Apply ice pack on the knees to ease the swelling. Repeat this after every 3 to 4 hours in a day and apply the pack for at least 20 minutes.
  4. Use an elastic bandage or straps to wrap the knees. It gives extra support to the knees and prevents the pain.
  5. Elevate the leg on a pillow at the time of lying down.
  6. Take pain killers like ibuprofen or naproxen.
  7. Indulge yourself in stretching exercises.

There are several reasons for Hairfall Thyroid Diabetes Hormonal imbalances Piles Anemia Respiratory tract infection Gastric complaints Genetic factors Skin infection Malnutrition Malabsorption Vitamin deficiency. Simply by applying shampoo. You can't find solution. U need to trace out the root cause. So that it can be treated permanently. A deficiency of vitamin A may lead to dry and itchy scalp. Eggs and Dairy Products: Milk, yogurt, cheese, eggs etc. Are loaded with essential nutrients such as proteins, Vitamin B12, iron, zinc and Omega 6 fatty acids. Dairy products are also a great source of biotin (Vitamin B7) that is known to fight hair loss. Most common nutritional deficiencies that cause hair loss: Iron: Everyone knows that iron deficiency causes anemia; this is typically characterized by pale skin and fatigue, and a vulnerability to repeated infections. What most people don't know is that iron deficiency can also cause hair loss.

Get treated with Ultrasonic therapy which would directly heal the calcaneal spur (inflammation of the calcaneum bone) which causes the heel pain in majority of the cases. Along with ultrasonic therapy, shortwave diathermy also can be given. Simultaneously it is better to wear MCR chappals (micro cellular rubber) which will help to transfer the weight evenly in the feet so that the weight will be completely felt in the heel area. Simultaneously it is better to wear MCR chappals (micro cellular rubber) which will help to transfer the Plantar Fascitis weight evenly in the feet so that the weight will be completely felt in the heel area. You shall do contrast bath to relieve this pain. Contrast bath is nothing but keeping in one tub hot water (bearable heat) and in another tub cold water Ask your father to apply ice in the painful area which would definitely help to greater extent. If still the pain persists then it is better to keep TENS stimulation at one of the nearby physiotherapy clinics.

It is called as peri arthritis shoulder and for that you can do hot water fermentation and ice therapy at home. If you have shoulder pain then the stiffness will develop more that might make the arm to have less improvement which might make you to feel more pain the arm. And also cervical pillow can be used which might make you to have better posture of the shoulder neck and arm Regular exercises and stretches can keep your shoulder strong and flexible. A few things to remember before swinging in to exercises: •Stop any exercise if you have more shoulder pain. It may be too soon for you to try. •Watch your form. Exercising incorrectly can also cause or worsen shoulder problems. •Warm up, even before deep stretching. Light shoulder rolls, gentle movements, or even a warm shower are all ways to warm up your muscles before exercise and stretching. Pendulum stretch for range of motion•Stand and bend at the waist. •Let your arm on the injured side hang straight down. •Keep your neck relaxed. •Move your arm in a circle up to 20 times. •Do once or more times in a day. Overhead shoulder stretch•Sit or stand to do this shoulder stretch. •Intertwine your fingers in front of you. •Bend your elbows and raise your arms above your head. You can also place your hands on your head or behind it. •Gently squeeze your shoulder blades together to move your elbows back. •Continue for up to 20 repetitions. Repeat 5 to 10 times a day.

I am 18 years old and started working out 4 months ago. Since last week I started having this awkward dull sound and then pain every time I do rear delt exercise in left shoulder only. The pain stops afterwards. The sound is not like breaking but something like muscle (or bone?) shifting to a side BUT I am not sure. I didn't had any injuries in the past and also giving adequate rest, nutrition etc. Please tell me possible reasons and cure for it.

How many days in a week r you doing strength training exercises. It should be done not more than 3 times a week. With a rest day in between. Like if you work out on Monday you can’t workout before Wednesday then Friday etc. Take whey protein after exercise. U can consult online for details.
