I .Meal Planning

  • Eat smaller , more frequent meals
  • Control carbs
  • Ensure variety in diet - whole grain foods, fruits and vegetables daily
  • Limit fats - 3-4 tsp/day
  • Seasoning tips - use salt sparingly, avoid adding sugars.

II.Practical tips to make you meals healthier

Eat lots of fruits and vegetables- Except for few fruits like banana, mango, chickoo, jackfruit and grapes, and vegetables like potatoes,sweet potatoes , yam . ,both fruits and veggies are cornerstone of diabetes,- gives you vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
Eat more whole grains- brown rice, ragi, bajra , jowar,wheat
Use healthy fats and oils- Choose- MUFA's - olive oil, canola oil , less often use PUFA- corn , sesame and safflower oil. Minimise SFA- high fat meat , dairy, coconut,
Choose heart healthy proteins- beans, peas and dals (good source of protein and fibre), Eat fish and shell fish 2-3times/weel, choose skinless, white chicken, nuts in moderation ( almonds , walnuts)
Select low fat dairy products- skim milk and its products like curd, paneer and low fat cheese

III.Healthy breakfast choices

  • An egg white omelette with a bran paratha and fruit wedges
  • Oats with low fat milk and spirinkling nuts and fruits
  • Dalia and veggies upma with a bowl of fresh fruits
  • Oats dosa with mint chutney and orange segments
  • Ragi porridge with milk/buttermilk and a whole fresh fruits.

IV.Healthy lunch box ideas

  • Healthysandwhich - brown bread with veggies no potato, low fat butter and cheese
  • Salad warps- mix veg salads in a wheat chapatti
  • Spinach and oats paratha,brown rice veggie pulao.

V.Snacking ideas to keep blood glucose in check

  • Handful of nuts - 7-8 almonds and walnuts
  • Raw veggies
  • Vegetable soups
  • Fruit bowl
  • Cereal chivdabhel
  • Wrap- salads,/ rajma with salsa sauce

VI.Choos.e your bevarages wisely

Stay away from, sugary drink, carbonated beverages, tea and coffee with sugar, syrup based drinks.
Choose from - plain water, unsweetened tea and coffee, low fat milk drink, green tea.

VII. Exercise.

Why is Exercise imp-

  • Improves blood glucose control
  • Improves energy levels.
  • Helps to lose weight and maintain body weight
  • Helps in preventing Diabetes complication.
  • Improves mental health by reducing stress,
  • Strengthens bone and muscles
  • You can do flexibility exercise like stretching, yoga, Aerobic exercise(brisk walk, dance, swimming, cycling etc), Strength training,.

Exercise should be performed 1-3hrs post meals, avoid workout at bed time to avoid hypoglycemia. (Do remember to hydrate yourself throughout workout)

Before exercise - make sure your sugar levels are normal - between 150mg/dl- 250mg/dl.

Suggest any medi...
Minolast function is entirely different from curing mouth ulcers, so you should not take it. Get yourself examined by general physician because mouth ulcers are due to many reasons apart from deficiency of vitamins.

Hello Dr. M going through white discharge n during menstruation, I get a severe pain. Is it normal. M 16 years old.
Its dysmenorrhea, low intensity pain is normal. 1) do massage to back & lower abdomen with warm sesame oil or suitable oil for 15 min. Afterwards take hot fomentation for 10 min. 2) 1 spoon castor oil with milk at bed time 3) do stretching exercise specially hip & lower back like ardhachakrasan. If it will not help you, you can consult privately.

Hello, shampoo and oil helps in conditioning the scalp. They will not help you in controlling hair fall. Hair breakages can be lessened by shampoo and conditioner. Hair roots are situated inside the scalp. They get nutrition through blood. Eat food which is rich in minerals, protein and iron. Drink 3 lit of water/day. This will help you in settling hair fall. If it doesn't settle then consult trichologist.

Dear, These are the causes of hair loss: • Stress • Due to medicines • Due to nutrition • Use of chemical products • Due to pollution For thick & long hairs & to prevent hair fall follow these instructions: • Do not take stress and take proper sleep of 6 - 7 hours. Do meditation or long breathing pranayams for 10 minutes daily to destress yourself. • You can apply amla powder, Make the paste of amla powder with water and apply it for 15 minutes once in week in afternoon and rinse it. • Do sarvangasan daily for 5 minutes do it under the supervision of yoga expert. • Avoid use of excess hair products such as hair colours and try to use mild shampoo. • Add protein containing items in your foods such as take a bowl of cereal daily, and a glass of milk also. • Eat healthy fruits and green leafy vegetables daily. • you can use Mahabhringraj oil and apply it 3 times in a week massage your scalp for 10 to 15 minutes daily. You can massage daily with oil it increase blood circulation and enhance hair growth. •In a bowl, mix two eggs, honey and some coconut oil. You can also use olive oil instead of coconut oil. Apply it on your scalp and leave it for 20 minutes, then rinse with a mild shampoo.

1) Do massage with warm sesame oil or suitable oil for 15 min., afterwards take hot fomentation for 10 min. 2) Start natural calcium supplement. 3) Do regular stretching exercise 4) In yoga DO BHUJANGASAN, HALASAN & SURYANAMASKAR. General Knee Pain: Due to any strain This is a general strain due to excessive walking or standing and for this you can follow these measures: one keep a pillow right under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes. One time you can do hot water fermentation that would help to reduce the muscle strain. Osteoarthritic Pain:Ice therapy would definitely help to reduce the inflammation. We also advise you to use knee cap which would help to prevent the knee from damaging further and also to maintain the quadriceps muscle tone. Simple Knee Exercises would help to strengthen the quadriceps muscle which is the key muscle. Specific knee exercises will also help ie. Keeping a soft ball underneath the knee and you have to keep pressing it. That's the simple exercise which will help you to strengthen the knee. Knee Pain unable to walk one step with walker Her knees would have been totally damaged due to arthritis of both the knees. That's the reason she is unable to walk one step as there will be knee rigidity. Physiotherapy Treatment for Knee Pain: You can take Ultrasonic therapy in one of the nearby physiotherapy clinics which would help to heal the damaged cartilages along with shortwave diathermy which would help to improve the blood circulation.

2 things mandatory for you. Check your thyroid levels which can cause swallowing difficulty, palpitations etc. Secondly do an ecg since your having shortnesss of breath. I recommand not to delay the tests mentioned above.

Hi I am 25 years old I have been facing a skin problem which might be ichthyosis extremely dry and scaly skin since childhood it might be hereditary which is killing me so can you please suggest the best method to control this as I know it is non durable.

Hi, I am very happy that you have accepted the situation and have decided to face it. But ichthyosis (if the diagnosis is right) can be manged very well with ayurveda. It need not destroy your life. But unfortunately I really can not prescribe medicines for skin problems without seeing it. So please do consult. Home remedies may not produce great results but it can certainly give you some relief 1. Curry leaf powder - 1 spoon everyday 2.1 teaspoon of cows ghee - consume it daily with warm roti or with warm rice 3. Add 2 tablespoons of pure sesame oil to your bathing water and use it to wash your skin.
