Babies need complementary solid foods along with breastmilk after the age of six months. You can start by including curd, fruits like banana, mashed papaya, veggies like mashed potatoes. The food that you give to your baby should preferably be home cooked and should have a thick, soft consistency.

Occurence of diaper rash is very common in babies who are less than a year old. Change their diapers frequently, use gentle baby wipes for cleaning the bottom area and try applying petroleum jelly for preventing the condition.

My son is 5 years old suffering with sneezing because of allergy how to get rid of that?

MD - Paediatrics
Pediatrician, Ranchi
The best way is to avoid the allergens if it is known. Allergens can be of various types like dust, pollens, smoke, foods etc. Long term use of some medication like montelukast with levocetrizine helps. Most of the children overcome this allergy as they grow till that time symptomatic treatment and avoidens of allergens is needed.

Because his request are completed by non verbal actions. You have to make him speak by ignoring his activities. Leaving him in children of similar age group will be useful. Correct his words & pronunciations when needed. Never imitate childs voice & words for joy.

Hello, 19 month old should be able to drink from a beaker or sippy cup. It is not a good idea to introduce bottle as there is high risk of infections. You can try giving 2-3 cups which is about 500 ml of milk. He can also take curds and cheese which are the other sources of calcium. He should be eating about 4 meals and 1-2 snacks daily.

Hi, my son's age is 1.5 yr. He was suffering from periodic fever (as per doctor) which was recurrent for 2 months and was coming every alternate week. Now he is ok but in the due course we have done some tests of cbc, crp, mp dual antigen and urine re & culture. Urine test is ok with a scanty bacteria shown. Blood test is ok hb is 12.6 and the other components are ok only the concern is that the rbc is a bit small. Doctor prescribed iron tonic for 6 months. My question is is this a concern for having rbc a bit small? as doctor said to keep in observation for sometime. My baby is active with no weight loss or growth hamper till date. Please advice. Thank you in advance for your help.

General Physician,
Please send all reports for proper advice. You can send them by ask privately option. The periodic fever syndromes' (also known as autoinflammatory diseases or autoinflammatory syndromes) are a set of disorders characterized by recurrent episodes of systemic and organ-specific inflammation. Unlike autoimmune disorders such as systemic lupus erythematosus, in which the disease is caused by abnormalities of the adaptive immune system, patients with autoinflammatory diseases do not produce autoantibodies or antigen-specific t or b cells. Instead, the autoinflammatory diseases are characterized by errors in the innate immune system. The syndromes are diverse, but tend to cause episodes of fever, joint pains, skin rashes, abdominal pains and may lead to chronic complications such as amyloidosis. Most autoinflammatory diseases are genetic and present during childhood. The most common genetic autoinflammatory syndrome is familial mediterranean fever, which causes short episodes of fever, abdominal pain, serositis, lasting less than 72 hours. It is caused by mutations in the mefv gene, which codes for the protein pyrin.

This is a a very common child problem. You should not think that he is doing it purposely. This anger and agitation is a problem which needs medical attention. It can be definitely treated with homeopathy. Make sure that the parents do not have conflicts and and anger scenes in front of the kid. Many times they copy the same. Homeopathic medicines can calm down such kids very naturally without any side effects. You can contact for further help. One home remedy you can try is massaging him with sesame oil in the evening and putting it on the head before bed, it can calm down his nerves and he may feel a bit calmer.
