6 Top Misconceptions About Skin-Care Products!

6 Top Misconceptions About Skin-Care Products!

People who have been using different kinds of skin care products have got a lot of misconceptions. Those misconceptions need to be removed otherwise you will never be able to choose the right skin care cosmetics for yourself.

6 top misconceptions about skin-care products

  1. Costly products are the best: There are many fellows who think that if the skin care products are costly, then they must be equipped with greater effectiveness. In fact, this is one of the leading reasons that most people are currently choosing only costly products without knowing that it can be one of the business strategies of the popular brands.
  2. Latest products are effective: Currently invented products are always good and this is quite an age-old conception, but this is not true at all. But nobody tries to understand the reality and rather goes by the trend in order to prove the myth to be true. As per the researchers, it has been found that there are many traditional products that are pretty good than the modern ones. But the young generation is not ready to accept this fact, and this is the reason they are suffering like anything.
  3. Younger look can be assured by creams: Only application of a fairness cream can give a fair complexion is a very wrong conception. Ageing effects can be definitely reduced to a great extent, but cannot be eliminated at all and this is a hardcore fact, whether you accept it or not. On the other hand, you have to choose only selective creams having vitamin-c serums, hydroxyl acids and others.
  4. Cosmetic companies make intricate researches: Though all reputed cosmetic companies say that they conduct researches intricately for making the creams more improved, but have you ever tried to know the reality? Nice packaging and great fragrance do not mean that the products are the outcome of deep researches.
  5. Organic creams are safe: Creams having natural ingredients are definitely safe, but how will you come to know that the mentioned ingredients have been added or not? If natural ingredients are good for skin, then you can try the homemade recipes. Hence, why purchase readymade creams having the same ingredients? The answers are still quite controversial and thus, people are pretty confused in taking their decisions.
  6. Cream is the easiest option: Even if creams are having all the necessary ingredients needed for skin health, still they neither compete nor can take the place of healthy foods in reality. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Dermatologist.

8 Things That Help You Prevent Blackheads

MBBS, DNB (Dermatology)
Dermatologist, Mumbai
8 Things That Help You Prevent Blackheads

An overproduction of oil, combined with dirt, bacteria, dead skin cells or residual make-up, usually lead up to clogged up pores, that appear black in colour, to show up on your skin. These are called blackheads. Though treating blackheads is not that difficult, it is always better to prevent them.

Here are some tips to prevent blackheads:

  1. The basic thing you can do to keep blackheads away is to wash your face regularly. It is important to keep your face clean, to prevent oil and dirt build-up, which clogs pores and lead to blackheads.
    • Use gentle cleansers that contain salicylic acid.
    • Never wash your face with hot water; use lukewarm water instead.
    • If you have oily skin, use oil-free cleansers. If you have dry skin, use cream or glycerine-based cleansers.
    • Avoid bar soaps since they tend to clog pores.
  2. Washing your face is important, but make sure not to over-wash. Washing your face frequently will irritate skin, strip it off its natural oils and cause more breakouts. Washing your face two-times in a day is sufficient.
  3. Always remove your make-up before you go to bed. Cosmetic products or make-up, if left on skin for too long, can lead to clogged pores.
    • Use gentle make-up remover or cleanser to remove make-up.
    • Keep your make-up brushes or cosmetic sponges clean to prevent bacteria that can cause clogged pores.
  4. If you lead a very active lifestyle, always shower after laborious activities. Sweating generally leads to an overload of bacteria, which ends up causing blackheads.
  5. After washing your face, don’t forget to apply moisturiser. Sufficiently hydrated skin actually helps keep blackheads at bay. Always use a moisturiser meant for your skin types. For example, if you have oily skin, don’t go for heavy creams; choose oil-free lightweight creams instead.
  6. Since excessive dead skin cells are also a cause of blackheads, it is imperative to exfoliate regularly. Gently exfoliate your skin to remove bacteria and dead skin cells to prevent blackheads.
    • Exfoliating will prevent blackheads, so if you already have blackheads, simply exfoliating won’t do.
    • Choose gentle exfoliators as harsh scrubs can irritate your skin.
  7. Having oily skin means your battle with blackheads is never-ending. The best way to combat blackheads, is to use products that absorb extra oil.
    • Weekly clay masks, counter benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid treatments can be extremely beneficial.
  8. Lastly, if you do think you see a blackhead on your nose, don’t touch it! Touching or picking it will only spread bacteria and oil, causing more blackheads. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

Avoid cosmetics and over the counter face products. Overwashing won't remove pimples or spots. You need to use cold water and wash face with a salicylic acid containing wash twice a day and not more. It vil help reduce the oiliness to a large degree. You can also use a natural face pack of orange, honey and curd for fifteen minutes once a week and wash it off. This vil decrease the the oil, whiten and moisturise your skin. Use scalpe shampoo thrice weekly. Using sunscreen is a must. But using different types is of no help. Uv rays damage skin cells producing free radicals and a variety of effects like blemishes, pigmentation, darkness and dullness of skin. They need to provide protection from uva and uvb rays. A sunscreen of spf 30 at least should b used. Also, look for pa+++ on the product. Also, go for sunscreens with both physical blocks and chemical agents like avobenzone. Use a gel based sunscreen if you have an oily skin like sun cross aqua gel. Repeat sunscreen after every three hours, use even when indoors. Uv ray's enter even through your windows and car windshields. Use sunscreen before and after you go swimming. You can use make up or cosmetics over your sunscreen half an hour later.

Later it got stable and the point it started got disappeared. Now I have an inch size white patch stable for the last 6 years between my left cheek and chin. It has neither increased nor decreased in size for 6 years. I have stopped taking any medicines in these years so far. But I am worried now . Is there any treatment to cure it? Hello, hi lybrate-user, vitiligo is a genetic disorder trigger by indigestion and stressful conditions. The patches on face, legs, arms, elbows, chest with hair on it remain black can be treated through medicines. No doubt there are some patches which are difficult to treat like on lips, fingertips, feet and where the hair color has changed to white. Vitiligo is an autoimmune disease and has no definite treatment and cure but it is a manageable disease and can be managed by using ayurvedic treatment internally and externally. Ayurvedic herbal medicines are used to purify blood and stop the spread of disease and external application are capable of quickly start regimentation. Extra use of haldi and vit. C, brinjal, red meat, fish, alcohol should be avoided in vitiligo.

You can reduce your problem as per its causes. You can try this shampoo to treat your dandruff:- Best Anti-Dandruff Lotion:- Nuforce Lotion . It’s recommended by many dermatlogists to treat scalp infections and dandruff. You must also eat good diet. A diet that is specially good for your hair too. Generally, Vitamin B is perfect for hair growth. It is also known as Biotin. There are many causes, such as stress level, eating habits, hygiene or lifestyle, causing dandruff. Let’s know the reasons for dandruff: Diet & Stress Level: High stress level results in the poor health condition of your hair, which often causes dandruff issues. Along with that, poor diet also results in dandruff in the hair. Besides, the intake of processed food and fried food also causes the inflammation of the scalp and the skin, the root reason for dandruff. Hair Brushing Habits: Regular brushing of hair helps to keep the hair healthy. Brushing the hair will help to improve blood circulation. The unbrushed hair results in lots of oil production on the scalp, causing dandruff problems. Hair Washing Habits: One of the main causes behind dandruff is dead cell accumulation. If you don’t wash your hair frequently, then dead cells will get accumulated on the scalp, which causes dandruff formation and itching sensation on your scalp. Skin Type: People having extremely oily or dry skin, are often prone to dandruff issues. Excessive production of oil results in the accumulation of dead skin cells on your scalp whereas the absence of oil in dry skin makes the scalp undernourished, causing dandruff formation. Overuse Of Hair Care Products: Overuse of hair care products can harm the scalp skin. The chemical present in the hair care products can lead to the frizzy hair issues and dandruff. What Is Dandruff – Treatment Using a mild shampoo regularly can help you deal with mild cases of dandruff. Alternatively, washing with an anti-dandruff shampoo having tea tree oil can also help. Basically, special anti-dandruff shampoo ingredients consist of: Salicylic acid to soften and eliminate dead skin cells Zinc pyrithione to combat malassezia fungus Ketoconazole antifungal ingredients Selenium sulphide to destroy fungus and decrease skin cell production Coal tar shampoo to reduce skin cell production Dandruff can be also controlled by following a proper and healthy hair care routine. Apart from that, you can rely on some simple and natural home remedies. It’s true that these treatments will take the time to exhibit results but they can treat the problem completely and effectively.

Rosemary Oil: Another oil which doubles as a fragrant oil and an essential oil, this one is derived from the rosemary plant. It is very useful for dandruff problems and a flaky, itchy scalp. Rosemary oil stimulates the hair follicles; as a result, hair can grow longer and stronger.

Hello this is dhirendra and I am from bangalore and I am facing hair loss problem please just give me proper solution.
For hair loss due to illness (such as fever), radiation therapy, medication use, or other causes, no treatment is necessary. The hair will usually grow back when the illness has ended or the therapy is finished. You may want to wear a wig, hat, or other covering until the hair grows back. Hair weaves, hair pieces, or changes of hair style may disguise hair loss. This is generally the least expensive and safest approach to hair loss. Hair pieces should not be sutured to the scalp because of the risk of scars and infection.
