Dr. Sadique Bhatti is a distinguished psychologist and psychotherapist at Bhati Mind Care in Nagpur. Having studied BA in Psychology (from Hislop College of Nagpur, 2012) and MA in Clinical Psychology (from IGNOU, 2016), he has a Diploma in Hypnotherapy (from IBAM) as well as in Naturopathy and Yogic Science (from Shree Gayatri Ayurvedic Yoga and Natural Treatment Centre). He has done his internship at the Psychiatry Ward in the Government Medical College and Hospital of Nagpur.

My father is an alcoholic. When he start to drink first day he keeps it in limits, and the same continues for 2 more days. But after that from 4th day onwards, he drinks all day long. He starts in the morning itself. This continues fro 2 to 3 days. Finally one day he apologies saying that, he would not touch alcohol in is life. And takes rest for 2 days. He himself consult doctor and ask for antialcoholic medicine. He takes for about 2 days or less. And then he says that I have left alcohol no need of treatment for me and stop taking medicine. But few days later like about 15 to 30 days he starts to have alcohol again and same drama is going on since many year. Please tell me what to do to solve this problem completely. Please please. Any possible way to stop him without taking him to deaddiction center.

Dear Lybrate user Alcohol addiction just like other addictions has psychological causes. There are reasons behind addictions. Many times addiction is serving some purpose or it became minds way of dealing witj stress discomfort etc or it becomes a psychological defense. There are more such possibilities and once the root cause (s) are identified and resolved/treated then the addiction automatically goes away. Many people have gotten rid of their addiction at bhati mind care from different parts of India by being at their home only. You father too can get benefits if he takes this approach. The good thing is understands his problem. Even after coming from deaddiction centers most of the people eventually start consuming alcohol again because the root causes are still there. I am addicted of cigarettes till 1 year. If I can't take it then my body is to pain & I feel like mad. My memory is also loss in during these day. What I do please suggest me.

Dear Lybrate user Cigarettes are harmful but when your body gets addicted to any substance like cigarettes then it becomes habitual if it and when it does not get it you feel withdrawal symptoms like headache body pain nausea sleep problems etc. This addiction is psychological and you will be able to quit cigarettes easily without medicines without nasha mukti places and all but staying at your home only if you take this psychological approach of getting rid of your addiction. Dear Lybrate user Headache nausea etc are withdrawal symptoms as our bodies also get addicted and sudden change or sudden removal of the addition is not acceptable to the body so it shows such symptoms. Addiction is psychological and we have dealt with many such people and they got rid of their addiction. Tell him to contact me. I am a man 43 years suffering from panic attack from last 10 to 15 years so was on some antidepressant medicine and was fine but from last 1.5 years the problem has again started and was having clear plus now the doctor has put me on paroxetine12. 5 pls suggest is it ok to change the medicine.

I am suffering from swallowing issues since 3 months. I am on liquid diet. initially I swallowed unchewed food and got panic. After some days I felt that food was struck on throat. Dear Lybrate user Anxiety can have many many causes so once your case gets studied by the therapist the actual causes will be found. Also the duration and frequency of the anxiety is seen. Try to monitor your thoughts which come in your mind when you start getting arrested by anxiety. Also see if something is trigging or contributing. You need to challenge your thoughts with logical and rational thoughts. You can also follow your hobbies and do what you enjoy. Try to distract your mind from automatic thoughts. This will not be easy but gradually you will be able to do that. Get yourself exposed to situations or place where you will have less anxiety and try to get out of it and once you will be able to do that then you can do this in a more but manageable anxious situations. I am 33 years old. I used to smoke now I have left. My sperm count is 2 million. I took some ayurvedic medicine n the count was increased to 10 million as per report n progressive motility was 76. How To Maintain Your Weight Permanently?

Are you trying to lose weight?

Is losing weight difficult for you?

Does losing weight take a lot of time, money and energy?

Weight loss is the biggest epidemic in the world.

Unfortunately, traditional and most used methods of losing weight like dieting and exercise don’t work for almost everybody.

Even the weight that you lost by dieting and exercise is gained soon after you stop following the above-mentioned methods.

Why dieting and exercise don’t work?
