Dear lybrate-user, Rely on eating wholesome natural, fresh fruits daily. This will help with the important vitamins. It is important to focus n overall health and not worry too much about weight at your age. Eat to nurture the body and mental alertness. At hostel, you can biol eggs, eat fruit and also experiment with dryfruits in daily diet to get great wholesome nutrition. Do not turn to supplements. Not necessary at all. Regards.

Hi lybrate-user- incorporate more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains into your diet while eliminating unhealthy foods. - if you are working or studying away from home, try to pack healthy lunch and snacks for yourself to avoid eating unhealthy food daily. - don't eat straight from the packet - use a plate or bowl to control how much you eat. - don't delay or skip meals. - cut down your consumption of aerated drinks and sodas. - drink at least 8 glasses of water every day. Drink water after waking up and before sleeping. Being dehydrated may make you feel like you're hungry, so it is important to stay hydrated. - have homemade fruit and vegetable juices - eat 5-6 small healthy meals every 2-3 hours, every day, instead of having a few big ones. This regulates your blood sugar level and your metabolism. - don't skip breakfast, instead, make it rich with complex carbohydrates and proteins, so it can provide you with energy to get through the day. Try to include the following as your morning breakfast, oats porridge, eggs on multigrain toast or daliya with sprouts. - avoid artificial sweeteners in processed foods. - eat slowly as it takes about 20 minutes for your brain to register if you're full or not. Eating too fast leads to overeating, so chew slowly to digest your food better and control how much you eat. - use a smaller plate to control your portion sizes and avoid overeating. - know your cravings and do not snack when you're emotional. It is said that you crave crunchy and savory food when you're stressed, frustrated or lonely. Figure out what you crave and replace them with healthier alternatives. - do not eat mindlessly; concentrate on your food instead of watching tv or playing with your phone to avoid overeating. - do surya namaskar 10 times daily to reduce extra fat from body.

Mr. Lybrate-user, masturbation whether done daily once or more often, does not lead to any problem. But diabetes if not well controlled can definitely cause erectile dysfunction and even premature ejaculation. So it is essential to control blood glucose strictly. Fasting should be around 100 mg. Pp 150 to 160 mg/ 100 ml & hba1c%<6.8. If this is achieved and maintained throughout, then most of the long term complications associated with diabetes can be delayed or even prevented. Another important aspect is you have grade 2 obesity with 35.15 bmi. Your ideal body weight should be 60 kgs. This will hinder in achieving tight blood glucose control. You have to seriously work on weight reduction. Even a 5 to 8 % reduction will help in better control. If you want any specific guidelines please come in a private conversation with following details: fasting, pp blood glucose levels, hba1c%, dietary pattern and extent of daily exercise being done. Then I will be able to help. Thanks.

Hello doctor I am 19 years old man. I have thin body I want to become healthy man what should I do.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Hello doctor I am 19 years old man. I have thin body I want to become healthy man what should I do.
Gaining weight is as difficult as losing it, if you are naturally thin. Skinny people complain that they can't put on any weight. If you want to build up weight, don't just eat high-calorie junk foods and rely on unnecessary supplements. Choose foods that are energy-dense and nutrient-dense whenever possible. Following are some tips to follow to increase your weight. You will take some time to gain the weight you need, but be patient. 1. If you have a rapid metabolism, then you must increase your daily intake of healthy foods (increase your intake of carbohydrates) to compensate for the rate at which you burn energy. Eat six smaller meals a day You should also eat more energy dense foods like healthy oils, dry fruits, seeds, nuts, pulses, etc. along with some starchy foods like potatoes, cereals, bread, pasta, rice, etc. 2. Consume more calories than you burn. Choose healthy calorie-dense food to add calories. Drink healthy beverages to add calories. Mangoes are rich in calories and carbohydrates, include them in your diet. 3. Eat healthy food frequently, 5-6 times a day - 3 larger meals and 3 smaller meals alternately. Separate them by at least 3 hours so you can digest each meal fully. Don't go without food for 5-6 hours after having a major meal. For example, if you wish to consume 3000 calories a day, you may eat 3 larger meals of about 650 calories and 3 smaller meals of about 450 calories. 4. Have a balanced diet. 5. Exercise regularly for putting on weight. Some thin people think that exercise is not good for them. This is not true, it keeps the metabolism high. Remember that eating alone is not sufficient. You don't want to gain fat but lean mass, so exercise is important. Resistance training exercises will help to increase your muscle mass, which in turn will increase metabolism. Learn to distinguish between weight gaining exercises and weight loss exercises. Note that if you do not get enough amino acids during exercise, the existing muscle may break down. Amino acids come from protein foods so you should eat such foods after exercise. Keep in mind that excessive exercise without putting back the energy you have used will not help you to put on weight.

Weight gain is muscle gain and not fat gain. In your condition your energy requirement is very high so whatever you eat is used as a source of energy and you do not make muscle. To gain muscles you will have to eat at least 6 meals (high calorie) in a day at a regular interval with a proper ratio of proteins and carbohydrates. Proteins will help you gain body mass while carbohydrates will help you give energy. Protein foods are eggs, fish, chicken, milk and milk products, meat and dals. Carbohydrate foods are roti and rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes. You have to eat vegetables and fruits and use healthy and good fats for cooking like ghee, cold pressed mustrad or til oil. You will also have to do some weight training exercise to help you build mass into the body. Also drink enough water to keep you hydrated.

Remedies to Correct Dehydration

M.Sc - Dietitics / Nutrition
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai

Our body is made of 60% water that is divided into an extra and intracellular fluid. When the body is deprived of water due to any reason, there is severe electrolyte imbalance in the body causing muscle cramps, sagging off skin, weight loss etc and if corrective measures are not taken, this could be life threatening too. To overcome this, first and foremost try drinking water at regular intervals. Ors or any home based beverages should have salt and sugar for better absorption of the electrolyte. One can also have coconut water, fresh lime juice or kokum.have moisture rich veggies and fruits like cucumber, water or musk melon ,juicy fruits. One can also serve curd or dal rice, thin porridge with added salt and sugar. Ensure not to eat too many sugary foods as it could lead to diarrhoea and further loss of body fluids. Elderly, young kids are especially prone to dehydration. People who work in hot weather, who sweat a lot and diabetic patient are in particular at risk of dehydration.

Neha Bhatia tells us about healthy seeds. Seeds are tiny but power packed foods stuff. They are rich in vitamins, minerals and fiber. Each seed has its own benefit. You can add them in food, salads, trail mixes, or just garnish desserts with it. I want to lose ma weight Tel me d best tablet so tat I can lose ma weight within 1 month.
Hye, Thanks for the query. Firstly it is important to understand that weight /fat loss involves sensible eating. You have to eat the right foods at the right time. Eat small but frequent meals.     Reduce your main meals by 1/4th  the amount. Take a glass of lime water 10minutes before meals. Avoid long gaps in between meals. Avoid junk as far as possible. Exercise at least 4 times a week. Lastly be committed.                        Remember it's a lifestyle change and not a one time thing.     It's a balanced intake that will last you longer. All the so called diets will only give you muscle and bone loss. The fats will remain as it is. So, try to first follow this seemingly simple tips.
