I have put on a lot of weight since a few years. I had lost 15 kgs when I was on fruit and vegetables diet for a year. I started gaining soon after stopping it. No other diet or exercise helps me. Please help.

Hi please, try to follow the under noted tips to get desired result. Go for a brisk walk in d morning to restore blood circulation. Tk, plenty of water to eliminate toxins and to regulate metabolism to burn your fats. Go for meditation to reduce your stress an to nourish cells & tissues to enshape your body. Go for. Cycling, swimming, jogging, gardening, playing badminton. Opt stair case in stead of a lift in your office. Tk, oats and green tea in d breakfast. I want advise with regard to nervous weakness. Whenever I travel I feel pain in the neck and when I take rest I am ok. Is it advisable to take metneurobion regularly. Is this related to b12 deficiency or not.

Hello, as you are saying that you are having neck pain only due to travel so it seems that it is due to exertion and postural and not related to B12 def. Kindly follow advises given below 1.Avoid using computers continuously, take rest for 5 min after working for half an hour 2. In pain free interval do neck exercise (kindly learn exercise by registered Trainer) 3. you can use thin pillow while sleeping so that normal posture of neck can be maintained 4.Maintain proper posture of body while watching TV/ studying Kindly go for cervical X ray AP and lateral and review with reports And for B12 vitamin supplement according to me best option is Nutrilite product consult me for further management

Hello! small n frequent healthy meals with some activity. You can take good quality protein in your diet. Like- milk n products, egg, chicken, dal & products. N visit a dietitian. It will help. Hi lybrate-user, glad to hear from you:) please stay away from any pills and powders which promise you weight loss. No pill and powder can lead to sustainable weight loss. For sustainable weight loss you need to follow a balanced diet and add some exercises at the same time. Please consult a trained nutritionist and dietician for the same. Meanwhile eat small and frequent meals. Stay hydrated. Avoid refined, processed and high calorie foods. Eat at least 2 servings of fruits everyday.

A drastic change in the life style habits and this modern world people face many health issues in their daily life. Obesity is one of the major health issues that most people are affected with.

Obesity or being overweight is a condition characterized by excessive storage of fat in the body. When the body's calorie intake exceeds the amount of calories burned, it leads to the storage of excess calories in the form of body fat. Increased body fat puts a person at risk for many critical conditions such as heart disease, liver damage, diabetes, arthritis and kidney problems.

The most common cause of obesity is lack of physical activity, intake of excessive carbohydrates, fatty and junk food items. It might be even due to pathological or hereditary cause. Ayurveda gives many natural home remedy measures to reduces the body weight and get rid of obesity.

Ayurvedic View

In Ayurveda, obesity is known as Medarog, which is caused by the aggravation of Kapha. Kapha is an Ayurvedic humor which is dense, heavy, slow, sticky, wet and cold in nature. It governs all structure and lubrication in the mind and body apart from controlling weight and formation of all the seven tissues - nutritive fluids, blood, fat, muscles, bones, marrow and reproductive tissues.

The Ayurvedic line of treatment for obesity begins with the pacification of Kapha Dosha. This can be done by eliminating Kapha-aggravating foods from the diet. Next, the treatment also focuses on cleansing of the Medovahi channels through cleansing herbs so that excess weight can be reduced.

Ginger (Zingiber Officinale), Salacia Reticulata (Kotahla Himbutu),Garcina cambogia (Vrikshamla), Commiphora Mukul Resin (Guggul) and Nigella Sativa are the commonly used Ayurvedic medicines to cure obesity.

Natural Ayurvedic home remedies for obesity

  1. Lemon juice and honey: The best and simple way to reduces weight is drinking one cup of warm water mixed with 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and one teaspoon of honey in empty stomach.
  2. Triphala powder: Mixing two teaspoon of triphala powders a natural herb easily available at homes with 500ml of water and allow it to boil for 5mins. Strain the liquid and drink it regularly to burn the excessive fat stored in the body.
  3. Make cabbage as your best friend: Take one cup of cabbage daily. Cabbage contains tartaric acid and this helps to convert the sugar and other carbohydrates into fat.
  4. Vyaayaama: Simple exercises are also much essential to be done alone with other remedial measures to reduce the body weight
  5. Avoid Sugar: Avoid white sugar and starch from diet. Prefer brown rice and other cereals in the diet.
  6. Control your excessive eating habit: excessive eating of junk and fast foods is the most important cause of obesity. This should be avoided and learn to eat healthy and right food at regular interval. Have only three meals per day. Diet controlling does not mean fasting so it is best advised to have small meal at regular interval.
  7. Herbs: Herbs like Bibhitaka (Terminalia belericia), amla (Emblica officinalis), Guggul , Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) are effective for reducing the body weight.

There are many other naturally occurring items that feature prominently in Ayurvedic treatment for obesity. The key aspect to understand here is that Ayurveda stresses on the natural and easy ways in which one can lose weight without having to undergo mental or physical stress and strain.

My last year blood sugar level was fasting was 105 and after food was 148 and after three months I rechecked my blood sugar my fasting was 87 and after breakfast was 94 now should I continued this or I now free from diabetes and take a sugar n rice and potatoes in my diet please tell me I m very confused.

Mr Roney, If your blood sugars are as low as stated, then it is really good. Even your earlier readings show that you only had impaired glucose tolerance, not diabetes. So if you continue to live a healthy life style you can remain free from it. As regards eating rice, potatoes and sweets, you can do it with in the limit. Because eating excess can always drive your sugar higher. Plus you have to maintain a healthy normal weight.

If we are talking health and health concerns, sneezing seems to be inconsequential. However, in reality sneezing is quite discomforting. Occasional sneezing is a natural defense mechanism of your body that helps throw out unwanted elements in the respiratory passage. This cannot be called a disease. A certain kind of sensitivity in the mucous membrane of your nose can make you sneeze repeatedly. Irritability to specific food products or weather conditions can lead to frequent sneezing. Recurrent sneezing is therefore directly linked to various kinds of allergy.

Ayurveda has been known for its efficacy in treating a vast range of diseases. Ayurveda diagnoses an ailment or a disorder in eight ways. This branch of alternative medicine examines the pulse, urine, stool, tongue, vision, speech and the touch of a person. The problem of intermittent sneezing can also be dealt with through the use of Ayurvedic diagnostic procedures and medications.

  1. Haridrakhanda: This powder is recommended by Ayurvedic practitioners to treat sneezing. A spoonful of Haridrakhanda with warm milk or warm water can really make you feel better. The medication should be taken four times a day to achieve desired results.

  2. Shadabindu Taila: Shadabindu taila or anu taila can be inhaled regularly to treat the condition of continuous sneezing.

  3. Agasta Rasayana: People, who easily contract allergies from their surroundings and end up sneezing throughout the day, are also the ones suffering from acute constipation. Two or three spoonfuls of Agasta Rasayana can improve irregular bowel syndrome. It should be mixed with hot milk or water and taken only after dinner. Even if you are sneezing problems have been tackled, you may continue with this to prevent the problem from bothering you again.

Other Ayurvedic tips to cure sneezing are:

  1. Keep away from taking a head bath in cold water. Lukewarm water is best suited for people prone to repetitive sneezing.

  2. Dust, smoke and a rainy, wet weather could aggravate your condition.

  3. Avoid the intake of cold items like ice- cream, iced tea, cold water, banana and curd if you wish to remedy allergies.

  4. Garlic, turmeric and black pepper are also known for their benefits in curing sneezing. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Ayurveda.
