Hye, thanks for the query. Your weight is a balance of calories. Fad diets may promise you that counting carbs or eating a mountain of fruits will make the fats drop. But when it comes to weight loss, it's sensible eating that counts. Weight loss comes down to burning more calories than you take in. You can do that by reducing extra calories from food and beverages, and increasing calories burned through physical activity. Understand that weight /fat loss involves sensible eating. You have to eat the right foods at the right time. Eat small but frequent meals. Take smaller main meals. Take a glass of lime water 10minutes before meals. Avoid long gaps in between meals. Avoid junk as far as possible. Exercise at least 4 times a week. Lastly be committed.                        Remember it's a lifestyle change and not a one time thing.     All the so called fad, crash, restricted diets will only give you muscle and bone loss. The fats will remain as it is. So, don't forget the bottom line: The key to successful weight loss is a commitment to making indefinite changes in your diet and exercise habits.

Does our type of food like veg non veg or oily spicy items in our daily diet affect our behaviour thinking or lead to mood swings?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
For more information you can read the book, Managing your Mind and Mood through Food, by Wurtman, J, Judith with Margaret Danbrot. Now we all know that we are what we eat. Various foods affect our moods and our health. Anything in excess will cause us harm and any deprivation too can do damage. Indian foods are very rich in nutrients and are always spiced to 'spice' us up. Vegetarian versus nonvegetarian foods also impact our mood and health. Foods that stimulate tryptophan and serotonin can also perk up your mood and thinking and slow down thinking and depress your mood, respectively. So, in any treatment plan, it is good to incorporate dietary considerations to both provide the necessary impetus and to also aid the medication and its effect.

I am 20 years old & I am becoming full stout & how can I loose my fat now my weight is 90 kgs.

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

Simple things like exercises, certain yogasans, working out, and walking twenty minutes after each meal will definitely help your body to lose weight gradually if done daily and systematically. Diet is a very important factor. You could reduce the intake of rice and use more wheat products instead. Also taking wheat gruel added with a little honey as one time meal everyday or taking a glass of water (never warm or hot water) added with half teaspoon of honey daily morning on empty stomach also will help you a lot. Hope you found this useful.

Please note the followings in respect to your queries: 1. Banana and Milk -- Bananas are full of calories and contain high amount of carbohydrates and potassium that give you instant energy. Whosoever want to gain weight must eat a banana daily in the morning with a glass of warm milk. Add a teaspoon of sugar in it. Moreover, you can also have it after your meals. Note – Don’t eat bananas when you are down with common cold. Find a great personal trainer and yoga instructor to keep you consistent. Consult me for homeopathic treatment. Recommend me by clicking on recommend option and leave feedback.

I am 19 years old male and my body fitness is to low, please say my this problem solution?

M.Sc - Dietitics / Nutrition
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Bangalore
Exercise at least 45 minutes a day helps to develop muscles. Outdoor games and physical activities help to build muscles and regulate appetite. A walk before meals can be done to feel hunger. Take balanced nutritious foods. Do not miss any meal. Avoid junk food. Avoid carbonated beverages. Take iron rich food like pulses, millets, vegetables, milk, milk products, etc. Fruits, grains, legumes, nuts, vegetables provide high quality protein and calories and are also rich in iron. Home based foods are best. Salads are preferable as they are rich in vitamins, minerals and fibers. Easily digestible fats like cream, butter, oils will help to increase the weight. Two feeds incorporating soups, juices or sweets in between meals improve the nutritive value of diet. Porridge, cutlets, desserts, potato chips, milk, malt, badam kheer are rich source of energy and protein. Sufficient water should be taken.

They can't eat jaggary. With diet and exercise you can control diabetes for some time, but not permanently. They have to be on medicenes after some time.

Try to take a teaspoon of methi powder early morning and bedtime. But remember no food works in isolation. It has to be coupled with a planned healthy diet. I would suggest you go for a personalised diet plan for yourself.
