When your aim is to gain strength, working out should never feel easy. In fact, that 30 minute to 45 minutes timing you spend lifting, pulling and pushing weight every day. If it's not, you are not putting enough stress on your muscles to help them grow stronger. Challenge yourself to" go all in" with every single workout to see maximum results over time.

Is Homeopathy Merely Psychological?

Nutritionist, Diploma In Cosmeto Dermatology , BHMS

Is Homeopathy Merely Psychological?

In the 18th century, most of the diseases were treated by bleeding a patient along with administration of laxatives. These treatments were termed as heroic treatments. The heroism was only of the patients who suffered at the hands of such interventions.

Homeopathy is an alternative medicine which was created by Samuel Hahnemann, in the 18th century, who was disgusted with the conventional treatment. He postulated homeopathy's "Law of Similars", which states that a substance which can treat the symptoms of a disease can also induce symptoms in a healthy person. This was based on his theory of eating cinchona bark a source of quinine, which was used to treat malaria. After he consumed that, he experienced the symptoms of malaria.

Homeopathy is considered to be controversial because of Hahnemann's postulate of the Law of Potentization, which states that homeopathic medicines become strong with more dilution.

If one must really believe in homeopathy then they need to know that it does not have a placebo effect. This has been proved by some strong examples. As per WHO, homeopathy is considered as the world's second largest point of care for healthcare. England's Royal family is also a strong supporter of homeopathy. Britain has placed homeopathy on their National Health system. In Britain, 45% doctors do not shy away from referring their patients to homeopathic medicine. There are many people across the world that trust only homeopathic medicines over allopathic medicines.

There is an increasing trend in the conventional doctors using homeopathic remedies. Also, in European countries the doctors prefer to refer patients to physicians who practice homeopathy. Homeopathy is slowly taking over the world. A random research showed that 45% British conventional physician along with 39% of French family physicians and 20% of German physicians are using homeopathic remedies. Also, 10% of Italian physicians use these remedies.

Despite, its increasing trend in Britain, it is not so well accepted in the United States. As per a report by Harvard, homeopathy only accounts for 0.5% of usage in the United States.

I can't maintain my lunch time, so feeling very weak during my office time. What should I do? Please help me.

Weakness is a result of lack of physical or muscle strength. If you are feeling that extra effort is required to move your arms, legs, or other muscles, it could also be a result of any disease, illness and too much activity at one time and not taking the food to match the amount of physical effort you are doing. Sometimes low levels of minerals (electrolytes), such as potassium or sodium also result in body weakness. Other important reason could be the problems with your thyroid gland. Because your thyroid gland is responsible for regulating the way the body uses energy. A low thyroid level can cause fatigue, weakness, laziness, weight gain etc. And a high thyroid level can cause fatigue, weight loss, muscle weakness etc. Sometime because of stress you may feel disinterest in your routine works. Since the reasons for your weakness are not known, I shall advise the following - 1. Keep yourself hydrated. 2. Get extra rest for some days till you feel more energetic. 3. Avoid watching television for long hours. Indulge in relaxing activities. 4. Avoid stress and too much physical exertion. 5. Take a nutritious diet with more protein items in homemade food like soya, sprouts, dals, paneer, milk, seasonal fruits. 6. Do light physical activity, meditation and yoga. 7. Take one good multivitamin tablet after food for 7 days.

I can't put my weight. please tell how can increase my weight. My age has only 46 Kg.
Weight problem is one of the most common problems that affect millions of people. Approaching nutritionists and gym instructors for effective weight loss plans are effective fixes for this problem. Strangely, just like weight gain, people do struggle to gain a few pounds. It has been medically proven that being underweight too can cause severe health problems. Usually, people tend to think that following a weight gain diet is completely doable. But that is not completely true. It requires the same amount of control and will power as one would need while following a weight gain diet plan, which recommends the intake of high-calorie foods. The idea of a weight gain diet is to put on healthy weight and steer clear of saturated fats. Let us take a look at a few weight gain foods that could change your lives the natural way. Whole milk milk is an important beverage for the most of us. From a creamy cup of coffee to a healthy bowl of oatmeal/ cereals soaked in milk, there are several ways of enjoying this essential source of nourishment. While a weight gain diet plan would not require you to give up on milk, you will have to switch from fat-free or skim milk to whole milk. It is high in essential nutrients, vitamins and contains healthy calories. One glass of whole fat milk contains 3.25% fat and 150 calories. It nourishes your body and helps you gain weight faster. Cheese if you love cheese, then stick to it. Cheese is rich in calories, healthy nutrients, and vitamins. It supplements your body with enough protein and calcium to build stronger bones. Being a milk product, cheese has a high fat content, which helps to gain weight. Try out different types of cheese and use them in your food for garnishing or as a dip. Butter another essential ingredient that can be included in your diet while on a weight gain regime is butter. It is rich in good saturated fats and nutrients that help you to gain weight faster. Also, powerful fatty acids and vitamins make sure you are in the pink of health always. However, you need to monitor the intake saturated weight gain foods as too much intake could add to cholesterol. So, layer your toasts with some butter and enjoy every bite. Dried fruit and nuts the perfect food items to snack on while on a weight gain diet are wholesome nuts and other dried fruits. Full of nutrients and healthy fats, dried fruits and nuts provide you with essential fiber and vitamins. Add almonds, walnuts, or pecans to your daily diet. Include them in your cereals during breakfast or add them to your salads for a nice crunch. Potatoes carbohydrates are an essential part of your diet when you want to gain weight. The best source of carbohydrates is potatoes. They are rich in fiber, vitamins and proteins too. It is recommended to eat potatoes with their skin, as the skin is a rich source of protein. Add them to your main course or have them as a side dish to ensure healthy weight gain. Eggs eggs make a perfect breakfast item, especially if you are on a weight gain plan. Whisk up an omelet or scrambled egg for a quick meal and get nutrients in a jiffy. Egg yolk is known for the healthy cholesterol and essential nutrients it contains. Packed with omega-3 fatty acids and protein, eggs are the perfect wholesome weight gain foods. Pasta bring an exotic twist to your weight gain diet with some pasta. Rich in fiber, starch and carbohydrates, pasta is the answer to all your underweight issues. Available in many shapes and sizes, pastas can be made in a variety of recipes. Add chicken or vegetables to increase its nutritional properties. Lean red meat good news for meet lovers! you can relish the different preparations of lean red meat while on a weight gain diet. Rich in proteins and other nutrients, red meat adds to your weight faster. It is recommended to opt for lean cuts. I am a student and my weight going up so what should I do for it . I am very unsucure by this.
Hi lybrate-user tips for weight loss eat fresh vegetables daily. Avoid having sugar completely. Eat whole wheat bread instead of white bread; avoid everything made from white flour and make whole wheat bread, chapattis and brown rice a way of life. Do not skip a meal and eat three meals a day. Drink plenty of water to eliminate the toxins from the system. Limit your fat intake to 2-3 teaspoons a day. Increase the fiber intake as it provides a sense of fullness and also prevents hunger pangs. Take antioxidants for protecting the body against the toxins released during weight loss. Exercise catalyzes your efforts to lose weight and even regular walking for thirty minutes can give you the benefits of an aerobics exercise. To improve the metabolism, try increasing the duration, frequency, intensity of your daily workout. Remember that maintaining the ideal weight is a lifetime commitment and not a short-term affair. Firmly believe that the pleasure of being trim and healthy is far better than the pleasure of eating unwisely.

Facts Every Woman Should Know About Heart Disease

Facts Every Woman Should Know About Heart Disease

Heart disease doesn't affect all women in the same way and neither does it have the same warning signs as heart diseases in men. For women, heart disease is a bigger threat than breast cancer. Cardiovascular diseases also kill more women than men as the disease progresses differently in men and women. Here are a few things you should know about heart diseases.

Women have more atypical symptoms of heart attacks: The classic symptoms of heart attacks are pain in the left arm, chest pain and heart palpitations. Though women may exhibit these symptoms, they are more likely to have atypical symptoms. These include nausea, stomach aches, pain in the shoulders and upper back and extreme fatigue.

Preeclampsia and gestational diabetes can increase risks of heart disease: Even though your blood pressure may go back to normal and conditions like preeclampsia or gestational diabetes may go away post pregnancy, their effects linger on. The risk of heart disease for a woman who suffered from preeclampsia doubles while gestational diabetes can cause glucose intolerance leading to obesity or other such conditions which are risk factors for heart diseases.

Hot flashes could be a sign of heart problems: Hot flashes are usually associated with menopause but may also be a symptom of underlying heart problems. Hot flashes that occur after a exerting a strenuous effort on something can be a sign of angina in women.

Men and women do not face equal risks: Traditional risks to heart diseases such as cholesterol, obesity and high blood pressure affect both men and women but some factors such as diabetes, stress, depression and smoking affect women more than they affect men. Since women tend to lead a more sedentary lifestyle than men, a lack of exercise also affects them more than it affects men. In addition, a low level of estrogen can also increase the risk of cardiovascular conditions. This is usually seen after menopause.

Metabolic syndrome increase your risk of getting a stroke:

There are five metabolic risk factors for heart disease. If you have 3 or more of them, it is termed as metabolic syndrome. These risk factors are:

  1. A waist circumference of more than 35". This is also called abdominal obesity
  2. A triglyceride level higher than 150 mg/dL
  3. A low level of good cholesterol i.e. HDL cholesterol that is less than 50mg/dL
  4. High blood pressure
  5. High blood sugar. This could also be a sign of diabetes.

While some factors like genetics are out of our control, most of these factors can be controlled by conscious lifestyle changes. Your doctor may also prescribe medication for the same. Heart disease can occur at any time so do not take your heart for granted.

I am kesavan, my age of 18, but my body weight is 42, so pls help for" how to improve my body?
Hye, Thanks for the query. Firstly understand that weight gain is very dependent on genetics and metabolism along with your daily diet and exercise routine. It is important to know that just eating just two heavy meals a day will not help. Weight gain is all about taking more calories than you burn. Eating the right foods at the right time is very important. There is no one food that helps weight gain. Eat meals at frequent intervals. You need to eat at least 6 main and mid meals a day. Eat a mid meal between each main meal. Avoid junk foods. Include dairy, eggs, nuts, fruits, dry fruits, starchy vegetables, rice, bread, whole grain cereals, smoothies, masala milk, ghee, cream in your meals. Just eating sugary, sweet foods is not good. Try to have healthy deserts like kheer, chikki or lassi. Avoid alcohol and smoking. Exercise at least thrice a week. It helps development of muscle mass and improves appetite.  Even if you were to take just medicines or supplements they will not work in isolation. You need to have a calorie and nutrient dense meal and good exercise routine, it's crucial.

I dont think that you should go for Liposuction. Those people undergo this procedure who are having alarmingly excessive weight and their weight cannot be reduced by any other method other than liposuction as this technique becomes a last chance forsuch people. One of the major side effects of liposuction is that it creates cardio diseases or problems like cardiac arrhythmia or cardiac arrests. It also results in heavy bleeding after the procedure which results in excessive fluid loss and kidney or heart failures. Thrombophlebitis is another huge side effect of liposuction. liposuction side effects Thrombophlebitis is the unnatural inflammations of the blood vessels and veins. It usually last for 3-4 weeks after the surgery. The area from where the fat is taken out might also swell after the procedure. It generally remains sore and tumescent for about 10-12 days till after the procedure, but gradually disappears
