I am taking medication for high BP for more than 15 years. With medicine my BP is 145/74. I take less salt. I want to know how to regulate BP with food. Can there be some indications of the BP when we get up in the morning so that I can regulate my food intake in the day and control it?

Both diet control and medications are required to control blood pressure. It should be less than 140/90.

Does Indian cooking preserve the micronutrients in vegetables? What impact does the microwave have on micronutrients in Indian food?

Does Indian cooking preserve the micronutrients in vegetables? What impact does the microwave have on micronutrients ...
Any amount of cooking does affect micronutrients of food. Deep frying converts oil into transfats.Oxidises Vit E. Cooking does destroy nutrients like vitc. Washing of grains destroys water soluble vitamin b complex . But cooking is necessary to make food digestible, and free of germs. Microwave does change the molecular structure of food according to some studies but is still in vogue due to its convenience. Cooking specially of green vegetables should be done at low temperature and as far as possible in an open vessel to preserve nutrients. And food should be consumed immediately after cooking. Cooking at home is much better than over processed, packed and canned food available in super markets. Microwave should be avoided as far as possible.Using plastic containers in microwave must be avoided at all costs.

For allergy of Wheat, try Gluten Free products. You need to increase your calorie intake by increasing your carbohydrates & protein intake. You can have parathas, cheese sandwiches in your breakfast. Increase 1 chapati more in your lunch & dinner. Add rice in your lunch. Include vegetables, dal, salad ,curd in your daily meals. You can have milkshakes, cookies fruits in between your meals. To gain weight you should eat more calories than you burn. Plus not only you have to eat calorie dense food but you have to keep in mind that what you are eating is healthy too. In the process of weight gain you do not want to put weight in an uneven manner and look unhealthy rather than looking bright and healthy. 1. Start exercising. Start working out if you are not active. The biggest myth that prevails now a days is that thin people do not need to work out. This is wrong. When you challenge your body, it is forced to grow. But this growth can only be possible if you are eating enough food to let the body absorb and grow in size and muscles. Lift Weights, do free body weight exercises. 2. Eat healthy. Stop drinking and smoking too much if you are indulged in it. Limit your intake of junk food and any form of sugar. Do not at all starve yourself. Make it a habit to eat something healthy every 3 hours. This means you have to eat 6 small meals in a day. Your daily food intake should ideally consist of nuts, dry fruits, seeds, almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, figs, dates and raisins. They are full of healthy fats needed by a human body. 3. Consume good amount of fruits and vegetables. Bananas, apples, pomegranate, green leafy vegetables. Fruits and vegetables helps in absorption of food in the body and together, completes your daily nutrition need. 4. Eat whole grains. Try to have multi grains spread throughout the day. Wheat, brown rice, oats, bajra, daliya etc should be taken in multiple meals in a day. 5. Supplementation. You can supplement your diet with good quality multi-vitamin capsules. If you are lacking in protein, you can buy a high quality whey protein and have it with banana shake twice a day. Chana and moong which are full of protein and nutrients. 6. Increase protein intake. Protein proves to be the most essential nutrient when it comes down to gaining strength or building muscle. Therefore, consume all types of protein from both veg and non veg food items. Chana and moong which are full of protein and nutrients. Try to be patient while you are on the process of weight gain. Results take time to show. Just follow the regimen of weight gain religiously and you will soon start seeing the results.

If you continue exclusive breastfeeding to your baby, it will burn that fat very fast. You need to start brisk walk or jogging daily for 4-5 km and increase your protein intake. Can autoimmune disorder (Thyroiditis) show high lymphocyte count in Complete Blood Picture report.
Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (HT), is an autoimmune disease where there is lymphocytic infiltration in the thyroid gland leading to it becoming slightly enlarged and firm in consistancy. Since it is an autoimmune disease some amount of increase in lymphocytes does occur. Thanks.
