Mr. Lybrate-user, she should control her blood sugar very well, avoiding serious hypoglycemic episodes. As for you if you do not have diabetes, then there is no special precaution required. Do not consider her diabetes as some thing special situation, just handle it as a routine problem. Best of luck.

Build a better breakfast, Aim to eat anywhere between 400 and 500 calories for your morning meal, and make sure you're including a source of lean protein plus filling fat (e.g. eggs, beans, unsweetened greek yogurt, nuts or nut butters) and fiber (veggies, fruit or 100% whole-grains). Prioritise real, whole foods, means filling up on fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains, low-fat dairy and lean protein. Know your limits with salt Skip sugary beverages Ignore the gimmicks/weight loss hypes Eat your H2O Munch on mineral-rich foods Resist the urge to skip a meal Take a hike or a walk Go to bed/ no sleep deprivation Eat spicy foods seriously cayenne peppers/jalapeños Buy a set of 5-pound weights, strength training builds lean muscle tissue which burns more calories

First thing first. Get active and move around a bit more even if your job requires you to sit whole day. Take small breaks in between and do some stretching, walk around the office n use stairs. But these cannot replace exercise which you must for at least 5 days in a week. With age being your side I would recommend you to do some weight training under supervision. Besides always carry home made food and snacks to work. Avoid all packet food like biscuits etx. Carry fruits to eat in between your meal. Never leave Home without a home made breakfast and carry your lunch tiffin. These small changes if adopted in regular life will give you lasting results.

What we can do for belly fat. Sole the problem of obesity and how to make body fit.
For reducing fat, reduce eating food that contains sugar, oil, salt & maida. Have healthier alternatives like raw sugar (jaggery powder), unrefined oil, rock salt & whole wheat/multigrain flour.

What happens when a person lack protein in his body? What kind of disease it can create due to lack of protein? How to control the lack of protein in body?

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
Deficiency of proteins can cause many health issues and also diseases like kwashiorkor and marasmus. As there is continuous proteins building as well as degradation in human body for its normal functions, their regular optimal intake is very essential for keeping good health. If our body does not receive enough of it from the diet, the protein in the muscles and tissues in the body is depleted. The nuts, beans, soy, pulses and seeds are full of proteins. Dairy products like yogurt, cheese, milk and paneer are rich source of first class proteins.

Diet Tips For Women With Vitamin D Deficiency

Diet tips for women with vitamin d deficiency

Food and nutrition

 Foods to be taken
It is nearly impossible to get adequate amounts of vitamin d from food. Sunlight exposure is the only reliable way to generate vitamin d in your own body.
There are small amounts of vitamin d in a few foods like:

  • Fatty fish
  • Beef liver
  • Egg yolks
  • Fortified milk, dairy products and orange juice
  • Fortified cereals and butter
  • Fortified soy products (tofu and soy milk)
  • Cheese
  • Mushrooms
  • Vitamin d deficiency foods

Foods to be avoided

  • Reduce intake of fried fatty foods, salt, sugar and other sugary products and foods that are enriched with saturated fats.
  • Limit caffeine intake. Caffeine may interfere with the absorption of vitamin d
  • Yoga and exercise
  • Exercise outdoors has been found to significantly increase vitamin d levels even in the colder months. Weight bearing (walking, jogging, dancing, skiing, etc.) and resistive exercises (weight training, and vigorous water exercises) are effective forms of exercise.

Home remedies

  • To increase vitamin d levels in the body stay around 15 – 30 minutes a day in the summer sun without sunscreen
  • Take a vitamin d3 supplement if you are in a low-sunlight region
  • Women over 40 if deficient in vitamin d are at increased risk of osteoporosis, and should take vitamin d supplements if found deficient
