If your are non veg you can have more eggs, chicken, fish. 6. Dals have good protien. Have more rajma, kabuli chana, soya beans etc. 7. Avoid junk food and colas. Avoid chips and other namkeen. 8. No need for any supplements. Nature has best products. 9. Go for regular walks / exercise / do yoga. Sleep well. - Take deworming tablets every six month. I am 64 yrs old with diabetes 2. Need to knock off 7 kgs more. What is fastest method.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology

I am 64 yrs old with diabetes 2. Need to knock off 7 kgs more. What is fastest method.
there is no fastest method of loosing weight. Looking at your height ideal body weight is 60 kg. Bmi is 26.97kg/m2, best way to reduce weight is to plan a loss of 2 kg per month, can be done by cutting 550 calories per day from existing intake, exercising regularly so that extra caloreis are burnt, which help in reducing about 1/2 kg per week. This approach will be better than any drastic reduction. If you want me to guide then come in a private conversation with the details like - fasting and pp sugar levels, hba1c%, medications being taken, level of physical activity and dietary pattern. The exercises that are to be planned should suit your age and capabilities. I am not sure if you are a person who has been exercising regularly earlier.

Kienbocks Disease- A cause of slow wrist pain

Hand Surgery SR Ship, MS - Orthopaedics, Thesis Work, M.B;B.S
Orthopedist, Jaipur
Kienbocks Disease- A cause of slow wrist pain
Kienbock’s disease, or avascular necrosis of the lunate, is a condition in which the lunate bone, one of eight small carpal bones in the wrist, loses its blood supply, leading to death of the bone. The lunate is a central bone in the wrist, important for proper movement and support of the joint. The lunate, along with the adjacent bones on either side of it, the scaphoid and triquetrum, make up the proximal carpal row. This row of bones articulates with the 2 forearm bones (the radius and ulna), to form the portion of the wrist that provides the most motion. Damage to the lunate can lead to pain, stiffness, and in late stages, arthritis of the wrist. Kienbock’s disease is most common in men between the ages of 20 and 40 and rarely affects both wrists.

Treatment options depend upon the severity and stage of the disease. In very early stages, the treatment can be as simple as observation or immobilization. For more advanced stages, surgery is usually considered to try to reduce the forces on the lunate bone by lengthening, shortening, or fusing various bones in the forearm or wrist. Surgery can also be aimed at trying to restore blood supply to the lunate (revascularization), using a bone graft with a blood vessel attached to it. This is not an option in more advanced stages if the relationship of the bones has markedly deteriorated; complete wrist fusion may then be the preferred treatment. Hand therapy does not change the course of the disease; however, hand therapy can help to minimize the disability from the problem. Treatment is designed to relieve pain and restore function. Your hand surgeon will advise you of the best treatment options and explain the risks, benefits, and side-effects of various treatments for Kienbock’s disease

Fresh fruits are always better They rich source of water, fibres, vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates etc necessary for metabolism Dry fruits are rich source of fatty acids, fibres, minerals and some vitamins. So many vitamins are lost during the process of drying. Fresh fruits are easily digestible, To increase physical strength, one have to do regular exercises, should take home made fresh food containing less spices and oil, salads and fruits before lunch, and some dry fruits at evening along with dinner or separately with milk Dry fruits alone won't work.

My wife is pregnant and her weight is very less. What diet should she take to gain weight.

My wife is pregnant and her weight is very less. What diet should she take to gain weight.
A healthy diet is an important part of a healthy lifestyle at any time, but is especially vital if you're pregnant or planning a pregnancy. Eating healthily during pregnancy will help your baby to develop and grow. Fruit and vegetables Starchy foods (carbohydrates) Protein Dairy Foods that are high in sugar or fat Healthy snacks Preparing food safely You don’t need to go on a special diet, but it's important to eat a variety of different foods every day to get the right balance of nutrients that you and your baby need. It's best to get vitamins and minerals from the foods you eat, but when you're pregnant you need to take some supplements as well, to make sure you get everything you need. Homoeopathic medicine ALFAMALT ( SBL) Drink 2 spoon 3 times daily for 2 months.

Some Information About Fat
Fat Content in Foods
We seem to be making wrong choices unwittingly when it comes to facts. An egg yolk may be high in cholesterol but it is rich in vitamins a, e, k and d. Egg yolk is also a rich source of iron phosphorus foliate and vitamin b6 and b12. Similarly prawns and crabs are rich in protein and other nutrients good for the body

Health tip : MAGGI UNSAFE

Your Maggi May Not Be Safe! Officials Find High Levels Of MSG And Lead, Call For Nationwide Ban.

The 2-minute noodles 'Maggi' has come under regulatory scanner after samples collected in some parts of Uttar Pradesh were found containing added monosodium glutamate (MSG) and lead in excess of the permissible limit, official sources said.

The Lucknow Food Safety and Drug Administration has initiated inquiry and written to the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) in New Delhi seeking to cancel the licence for Maggi. The state regulator has also asked FSSAI to order sampling of the product from across the country to check quality, officials said.

"We have tested Maggi samples at Kolkata's referral laboratory. The test results show that there are added monosodium glutamate and excess of lead. We have ordered further sampling" FSDA Assistant Commissioner Vijay Bahadur Yadav told TOI.

However, Nestle, which manufactures Maggi, maintains that it does not add monosodium glutamate to the product, whereas presence of excess lead is "surprising" for the company.

"We do not add MSG to MAGGI Noodles and glutamate, if present, may come from naturally occurring sources. Food regulators in India also do not specify any limit for the presence of MSG / Glutamate" a Nestle spokesperson said. He said, "We are surprised with the lead content supposedly found in the sample. We monitor the lead content regularly as part of regulatory requirements, and tests at our own accredited laboratories as well as those by independent external accredited laboratories have consistently shown the results to be well within the permissible limit"

According to Yadav, test results showed Maggi containing 17 parts per million lead, whereas the permissible limit is 0.01ppm. Nestle says its records show lead content is negligible and less than 1 % of the fixed limit.

Monosodium glutamate, a kind of amino acid which occurs naturally in many agricultural products, is often also added artificially to packaged food to enhance flavour. Regulators and experts say such additives can be harmful for health, mainly for children. Food safety regulations mandate companies to specify on the packaging if MSG has been added.

When contacted, FSSAI said it will examine the case once it receives a detail report from UP and will immediately order sampling from other states. "Enforcement of the Act lies with state government and they must keep a stringent check. Once we receive communication from the state, we will certainly examine and take immediate cognizance" a senior FSSAI official said.

Nestle said so far it has not been informed about any cancellation of licence or ban on the product. It also maintains that Maggi noodles "conform to all applicable food laws and regulations.(Originally published in The Times Of India)
