I need to know which is more harmful, a cigarette or bidi. I smoke daily one cigrate except Saturday Sunday because I don't like smoking at home on my offs and also my body does not ask for it so much that I have to take it like many people have great urge. But somehow I feel I should not quit it because one cigrate everyday gives me enjoyment and since I am having only one I feel I can go with it, not so serious. If bidi is not harmful than cigrate I wonder if it will be a good move to switch over it as I don't smoke publicly so can use it. Please educate me.

Dear lybrate-user, Welcome to Lybrate. Cigarette and bidi are equally harmful. Tobacco is addictive. Cigarette also contains 4000+ carcinogenic chemicals other than nicotine. Nicotine and other chemicals can cause cancer of different types and areas. Throat cancer, mouth cancer, lung cancer, stomach cancer and brain problems can result. Over and above smoking may also increase the risk factor of heart attack and brain stroke. Please quit smoking. The best method is to leave it and continue with your will power. There are other methods like Nicotine Replacement therapy and pharmacotherapy combined. If you’re ready to stop smoking and willing to get the support you need, you can recover from nicotine addiction and abuse—no matter how bad the addiction or how powerless you feel. The first step in treating nicotine addiction is accepting that you have a problem. Confronting an addiction and accepting responsibility for your actions isn’t easy. But it’s a necessary step on the road to treatment and recovery. You should then consult a psychiatrist / psychologist who fill follow this treatment. 1. Detoxification using medicines. 2. Behavior modification with the help of therapies. 3. Counseling. 4. Medication to sustain and 5. Long term support. These given steps are essential for any addict to get effectively rid of smoking. Therefore, you need to stick to the treatment plan and cooperate with your psychiatrist / psychologist. Mind power building therapy, motivation therapy etc should help you doing so. Take care.

Feeling tired and week is due to weakness of body which may be due to anemia or due to nutritional deficiency. Loss of concentration may be due to excessive use of mobile. Take five phos and ferrum phos 4-4 tab of both 4 times daily. Eat balanced diet.

To lose weight you have to be be consistent with right diet & follow a regular exercise regime. Avoid high calorie food like processed & packed food. Eat nutritious & balanced meal. Take 2 servings of fruits daily. Say no to oily & sugary food.

Hi there could be many reasons for weight gain. When you gain weight then obviously several other problems arises. To lose weight we need to focus upon some basic food plan like cutting down on grains and sugar. This helps immediately. We should avoid processed food. The healthy weight loss diet should contain ample amount of vegetable with sufficient protein. Taking some dietary supplements helps in weight loss as well. Sample diet plan breakfast - russian salad with boiled eggs. Lunch - cooked vegetable + 1 chapatti +salad +curd. Dinner - paneer tikka with green chutney. Snacks - dry fruits and nuts with green tea. Suggested supplements microfruit and cytofresh tablets daily after breakfast lipolyzer tummy tablet after lunch and dinner.

1. For increasing weight ...First we have to work on ur digestive system..It will do Aam pachan and will increase ur digestive power and appetite.... 2. Mix 1 teaspoon each of cinnamon, ginger and cumin powder with honey to make a paste. Take 1 teaspoon 3 times a day.. 3. Take small meals 4-5 times a day.. 4. Eat healthy n light food .. 5. Drink plenty of fluids.. 6. Avoid constipation... 7. Walk 1km daily in evening... 8 .Follow up after a week.

You can check your blood sugar regularly to see if it is in normal levels. Your medicine can be modified if needed and so can be your lifestyle and diet. So go ahead and enjoy what you want. K keep your doctor in confidence.

Depression and stress does lower the sexual desire and performance. Try getting over it. It looks like a temporary phase. May be get a counseling session. Hi lybrate-user. Welcome to lybrate. If you do not wish to continue this pregnancy you can opt for medical termination of pregnancy. However you can do it with medicines only upto 9 weeks. So if you are less than 9 weeks then I suggest you take medicines otherwise you can go for a surgical evacuation. But I would suggest you to take the medicines under medical supervision as incorrect technique and dosage can lead to incomplete abortion and very heavy bleeding. Hope this information helps you. To gain weight you should eat more calories than you burn. Plus not only you have to eat calorie dense food but you have to keep in mind that what you are eating is healthy too. In the process of weight gain you do not want to put weight in an uneven manner and look unhealthy rather than looking bright and healthy. 1. Start with changing your lifestly. Start working out if you are not active. The biggest myth that prevails now a days is that thin people do not need to work out. This is wrong. When you challenge your body, it is forced to grow. But this growth can only be possible if you are eating enough food to let the body absorb and grow in size and muscles. 2. Eat Healthy – Stop drinking and smoking too much if you are indulged in it. Limit your intake of junk food, pepsi, sugary stuff etc. Do not at all starve yourself. Make it a habit to eat something healthy every 3 hours. This means you have to eat 6 small meals in a day. Your Daily food intake should ideally consist of – a. Have plenty of nuts, dry fuits and seeds. Almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, figs, dates and raisins. They are full of healthy fats needed by a human body. b. Good amount of fruits and vegetables – Bananas, apples, pomegranate, green leafy vegetables. Fruits and vegetables helps in absorption of food in the body and together, completes your daily nutrition need. c. If you are a non- vegetarian - Eat eggs, chicken etc. d. Eat whole grains – Try to have multi grains spread throughout the day. Wheat, brown rice, oats, bajra, daliya etc should be taken in multiple meals in a day. e. Eat Sprouts – Chana and moong which are full of protein and nutrients. f. You can supplement your diet with good quality multi-vitamin capsules. If you are lacking in protein, you can buy a high quality whey protein and have it with banana shake twice a day. g. You can take natural food items like wheat grass which is full of essential nutrients which helps in weight gain. Try to be patient while you are on the process of weight gain. Results take time to show. Just follow the regimen of weight gain religiously and you will soon start seeing the results.

Stress and too much work pressure might be the reason. But make sure you have a proper nutritious breakfast before you start your day. It will keep you energetic the whole day and will also help in relieving stress. Not eating whole day and eating only at night will also reduce your metabolism and you may start gaining weight. So have small frequent meals 5-6 times a day.

Dear to decrease your weight you have to do work out daily. Try the remedies below they can help u. 1. Mix three teaspoons of lemon juice, one teaspoon of honey, and one-half teaspoon of black pepper powder in one glass of water. 2. Drink it in the morning on an empty stomach. 3. Do this daily for at least three months. 4. Drink mint tea or make a paste of green mint with some simple spices and eat during meals. 5. Eat vegetables such as bitter gourd and drumsticks to control obesity. 6. Do bhujang asana, dhanurasana, naukasana, kumbhakasana, pavanamukthasana daily 10 min per asana. 7. Do running early morning daily and join aerobics in evening. 8. Avoid oily and fried foods, processed foods, fatty foods like butter, purified butter, cheese, whole-milk yogurt, cream, chocolate, etc. 9.Replace refined flour with whole-wheat flour and rice with brown rice or parboiled rice.

Prenatal Counseling:

Today's life, especially in the metro cities, is fast and becoming more stressful. Pregnancy is a period when the health of the baby is directly dependent on the health of the mother and father. Also during the early phase of pregnancy the development of a baby inside the womb is very rapid and is the base for its future. Preconception counseling helps parents to understand and identify the different factors affecting the growth of the baby along with the modifications or complete illumination of these factors (if possible) to maintain the healthy development of the baby and the health of the mother as well.

Hence preconception counseling is a good initiative towards a healthy outcome.   • The importance of well-balanced nutritional diet and how to opt it
  • The change or modification in the lifestyle to reduce stress

  • Any family history of any disease like Haemophilia and the steps towards it
