Diet and workouts go a long way in helping you gain strength to gain weight, you must eat more calories than you burn. When you gain weight, some will be fat and some will be muscle. To gain muscle, you must eat protein. To boost the ratio of muscle to fat gain, you must exercise. To gain muscle and strength, you must engage in resistance exercise. To improve body fat percentage and gain weight, you must cycle through phases of gaining muscle and losing fat. I can also suggest home remedies.

Eating three meals a day, no matter what?s in them, isn't going to help you bulk up.Your body burns calories fast, so you need to feed it more than it can use up right away. That means eating not just when you're hungry, but throughout the day. Aim to eat five meals a day to gain weight. Make sure you drink plenty of water. Water will help your body process the extra protein and calories you?re taking in. Drink several glasses with every meal to avoid getting dehydrated. Since you?re probably also going to be exercising more to gain mass, aim to drink 10 glasses of water every day. ? You can also drink unsweetened tea, fruit juice, and other healthy beverages. ? Avoid drinking Gatorade and other sports drinks in excessive amounts, since they contain a lot of sugar. Focus on protein, fats and carbohydrates. These are the three staples that will help you gain weight, and you need plenty of each of them to stay healthy. Focus on incorporating protein, fats and carbohydrates into every meal you eat so your diet stays balanced. Here are some examples of good choices in each category: ? Proteins: eggs, salmon, tuna, and other fish;, and ham; chicken breasts and thighs; lean and steaks. ? Fats: olive oil, safflower oil, coconut oil, and grapeseed oil; avocados, walnuts, almonds, flaxseeds. ? Carbohydrates: fruits and vegetables; beans, lentils, peas; brown rice, whole grain bread, whole grain pasta and other whole grain products; honey and fruit juice. For further assistance you can concern me privately.

Hi dear, It's not all about eating rich, creaming, fried, high caloried food. The elite people do take care of themselves by visiting regularly in beauty saloons for their skin and hair care, they go to gym regularly to maintain a good figure or physique and also they do follow healthy and nutritive diet at home which is also followed by freaking out in the these food courts during weekends with their friends, cousins. As we can't see what they do daily in their routine at their home or gym or saloon, we assume that they visit the food courts every week. It's all about maintaining a balance between'Calories-in' and'Calories-out' concept sensibly. We need make few changes in our life to stay fit and healthy (if there is no medical condition): - Just walking alone is a very beneficial exercise which can help you stay in shape, feel more energetic, and get healthy. Always take stairs rather than taking an elevator. -Standing while you work can help your body get more activity than if you were just sitting down. Spend at least some of your work day standing instead of sitting in order to help your blood flow and maintain your muscles. -Do more chores. Lots of household chores actually involve a lot of exercise and being better about doing chores can be a great way for you to fit activity and exercise into your day. -Aim to exercise for a total of 30 minutes per day and you’ll easily be able to maintain your fitness level. -Some exercises will be more efficient than others, and choosing these more efficient exercises means that the small amount of time that you do spend exercising will really count. Try to choose exercises that focus on your core muscles, since your legs and arms can get activity through daily activities like lifting bags of groceries and walking a longer distance from your car. Try squats, planks, burpees. -Get indulge into some activity at home like riding a bicycle, swimming, playing active games with your kids. -Eating right. Cut out unhealthy fats and take in healthy fats. The easiest way to identify unhealthy fats is to look for “solid” fats, or fats that are solid at room temperature. Get plenty of protein. Protein will help you maintain your muscles and also give you the energetic feeling that you may be missing now that you’re getting less exercise. Good protein sources include skinless chicken, salmon, sardines, almonds, walnuts, peanuts and peas. Eat properly portioned, balanced meals. Generally, about ⅓ of your plate should be fruits and vegetables and ⅓ of your plate should be grains. The final third should be a mix of protein and low-fat dairy (cottage cheese, eggs, non-fat milk, etc). -Drinking enough water also has the added bonus of keeping your hunger level down, helping you to maintain the lower calorie count that you’ll be getting now that you’re not exercising as much.

PCOD & fatty liver management requires weight loss. Apart from medications, diet, lifestyle, daily exercise & weight loss are very helpful in relieving symptoms & sometimes curing it. Here are some tips for weight loss. 1. Have small frequent meals at 2-3 hrs interval instead of 3-4 large meals only. In between balanced main meals-(comprising of a whole grain, whole legume/egg/fish/chicken, low fat dairy, whole fruits, vegetables, salad); include healthy snacks in between- coconut water (w/o cream), whole fruit, roasted makhana, roasted chana (unsalted), nuts & oilseeds, soup, stew, buttermilk, salted lassi, green tea, boiled egg. 2. Drink 2- 3 litres water daily 3. Avoid junk, fried, processed, preserved, sugary foods & drinks, alcohol. 4. Replace simple carbs (sugar, jaggery, honey, maida, sago, cornflour, arrowroot flour, potato, biscuit, cake, white rice, white bread) with complex carbs (whole fruits, vegetables, salads, whole grains-atta, dalia, suji, oats, millets, barley, brown rice, atta bread, quinoa, whole legumes-sprouts, soyabean, pseudo cereals-rajgira, makhana, & nuts, oilseeds). 5. Avoid skipping meals 6. Have early & light dinner. 7. Sleep & wake up early. Have a sound sleep. Avoid use of mobile, laptop etc at bedtime 8. Brisk walk daily for 1 hr. In morning. 9. Walk/ cycle instead of taking transport, take stairs instead of lift/ escalator. 10. Cut down on total oil consumption. Have stewed & boiled foods mostly till fatty liver problem is solved. 11. Take 15 mins light walk post main meals. 12. Avoid sitting for an hr at a stretch continuously 13. Avoid sleeping in afternoon. Light nap of 20 mins is ok.

Morning (on an empty stomach: Start your day with honey and lemon juice mixed in lukewarm water. This is very effective in getting rid of harmful toxins inside our body. Breakfast: Brown bread, skimmed milk, wheat bran/oats/cornflakes or sprouts or fruit salads. If you don’t prefer an English breakfast, you can have Vegetable Poha / Upma/Idlis/ Vegetable Daliya with fruits + skimmed milk Morning snack: Handful of almonds or walnuts + tea/black coffee/ juice. This is helpful when you are in office and need a small break. This can satiate your hunger. Lunch: Chapati without oil, rice (preferably without starch), salad, vegetable or vegetable curry, dal and curd. Evening Snack: Sprouts / apple / cucumber / carrot / nuts / tea with lite biscuits Dinner: Chapati without oil, rice (preferably without starch) or brown rice, salad, boiled soybean nutrela/ soup, vegetables, dal and curd (see that the quantity consumed is less than what you have consumed in lunch) Before going to bed: A glass of warm skimmed milk. This can be avoided if you have already taken milk in the breakfast. You can simply have fruits and go to bed.

Mr. Lybrate-user, if you have diabetes, is it t1 or t2, are you on tablets or insulin injection please tell me that. Looking at your age it is necessary to know. Diet will depend on severity of diabetes, (blood sugar levels), body weight. The person with diabetes has follow these guidelines: avoid sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries, sweetened aerated drinks, high fat milk products, highly processed foods and alcohol. Consume more of green leafy vegetables and salads. You can eat permitted fruits about 100 g a day. Use whole grain products and avoid refined flour like maida. But most important is to control sugar levels very effectively. Fasting should be closer to 100 mg, and pp should 150 to 160 mg and hba1c% <7.

Simple Ways to Treat Dysmenorrhea

Dysmenorrhea is a menstrual disorder in which women suffer painful menstrual cramps along with other symptoms during their periods. It affects about 20 percent of the women of menstrual age. This happens at the start of the periods and may last for three days till the end of the period.

Few Common Symptoms are:

- Abdominal pain with menstrual cramps
- Joint pain, especially in the lower back hips and sometimes in the inner thighs
- May also result in vomiting sometimes
- In certain cases, may also cause an upset stomach

The causes behind dysmenorrhea

The primary cause behind this is usually the contracting of the uterus. The uterus does normally contract a little during menstruation but it may contract a bit too much, affecting the blood vessels and nerves within the abdominal region causing this condition. Some basic steps to reduce pain from cramps.

Some of the steps to be followed to allay the symptoms are:

- Taking ample rest during the days of bleeding
- Staying away from alcohol or any other food or drink that may dehydrate the body
- Avoiding smoking
- Avoid coffee or any food products high in caffeine
- Avoiding foods high in salt
- Massaging the lower back gently
- Using a hot water bag on the abdomen to relieve some of the pain

The steps mentioned above are meant primarily as preventive and pain reducing measures, but for more severe symptoms medications such as acetaminophen, ibuprofen or others may be necessary.

However, the best advice would be to consult a doctor in case of prolonged pain during the days of bleeding rather than self medicating or only relying on home remedies.

To gain weight you should eat more calories than you burn. Plus not only you have to eat calorie dense food but you have to keep in mind that what you are eating is healthy too. In the process of weight gain you do not want to put weight in an uneven manner and look unhealthy rather than looking bright and healthy. 1. Start with changing your lifestly. Start working out if you are not active. The biggest myth that prevails now a days is that thin people do not need to work out. This is wrong. When you challenge your body, it is forced to grow. But this growth can only be possible if you are eating enough food to let the body absorb and grow in size and muscles. 2. Eat Healthy – Stop drinking and smoking too much if you are indulged in it. Limit your intake of junk food, pepsi, sugary stuff etc. Do not at all starve yourself. Make it a habit to eat something healthy every 3 hours. This means you have to eat 6 small meals in a day. Your Daily food intake should ideally consist of – a. Have plenty of nuts, dry fuits and seeds. Almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, figs, dates and raisins. They are full of healthy fats needed by a human body. B. Good amount of fruits and vegetables – Bananas, apples, pomegranate, green leafy vegetables. Fruits and vegetables helps in absorption of food in the body and together, completes your daily nutrition need. C. If you are a non- vegetarian - Eat eggs, chicken etc. D. Eat whole grains – Try to have multi grains spread throughout the day. Wheat, brown rice, oats, bajra, daliya etc should be taken in multiple meals in a day. E. Eat Sprouts – Chana and moong which are full of protein and nutrients. F. You can supplement your diet with good quality multi-vitamin capsules. If you are lacking in protein, you can buy a high quality whey protein and have it with banana shake twice a day. G. You can take natural food items like wheat grass which is full of essential nutrients which helps in weight gain. Try to be patient while you are on the process of weight gain. Results take time to show. Just follow this regimen and you will soon start seeing the results.

Hi, I am both a registered dietitian and a doctor who will help you in losing your weight as well as solve your other health problems through a dietary therapy. Let me know your food intake details. The best diet is one which is healthy and well balanced with foods from all the food groups, and one which is varied and that you can stick to weight loss on some diets can be dramatic in the short term, but there's more of a chance of rebound weight gain. Set yourself a realistic target and aim to lose between (0.5-1.0kg) a week I being a registered dietitian strongly accommodate the patients own preferences without the patient feeling that they are on a diet not compromising the weight management goals. Don't fall for self dieting or fad diets availiable online they have harmful effects in the long run, if you lose a lot of weight very quickly, you may not lose as much fat as you would with a more modest rate of weight loss. Instead, you might lose water weight or even lean muscle tissue, since it's hard to burn that many fat calories in a short period. I will need to carry out detailed assessment in your case, after assessing your personal challenges to weight loss, I will recommend a strategy to gradually change habits and attitudes that have sabotaged your past efforts. Also the overall objective should not be to drastically reduce weight but doing it gradually and help rebuild body tissues and to maintain ideal body weight. I being a both a registered dietitian (rd) and doctor have been successfully helping patients with their problems through a holistic approach using customized therapeutic diet and medications. I will also suggest home remedies. Do reply back for private consultation for rx.
