I am 25 years old and I'm having too much fat around my belly. What should I do to reduce my weight.?

PGDD, RD, Bachelor of Home Science

I am 25 years old and I'm having too much fat around my belly. What should I do to reduce my weight.?
You cannot work on a specific body part. You have to work on overall fat loss and toning. Try to eat small but frequent meals. Avoid long gaps in between meals. Avoid junk as far as possible. Exercise at least 4 times a week. Include exercises that tone your back and abdominal muscles too. Lastly be committed. Remember it's a lifestyle change and not a one time thing. It's a balanced intake that will last you longer. All the so called diets and singular ab exercises or ab machines will not give you targeted results. The fats will remain as it is. It's all about overall work out and balanced diet.

seven ways to set your sensitive gut ( ABDOMEN )

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
seven ways to set your sensitive gut ( ABDOMEN )
Avoid foods that trigger your symptoms.
Eat small portions and don't overeat; try eating smaller, more frequent meals and be sure to chew food slowly and completely.
Avoid activities that result in swallowing excess air, such as smoking, eating quickly, chewing gum, and drinking carbonated beverages.
Reduce your stress. Try relaxation therapies, cognitive behavioral therapy, or exercise. An aerobic workout 3-5 times per week can help, but don't exercise right after eating.
Get enough rest.
Don't lie down within two hours of eating.
Keep your weight under control.

Dear lybrate user, -Some fruits produce ethylene gas as they ripen in the fridge which overripens & spoils them if kept for more than 1-2 days in the fridge, keep unripe fruits outside for 1-2 days then shift them to the fridge & consume them as soon as possible.

Shower - 6 Reasons Why You Should Never Skip

MBBS
General Physician, Udaipur
Shower - 6 Reasons Why You Should Never Skip

While many of us wish we could stay under the shower all day in the summers, winters and lazy Sundays find many of us making excuses to skip a shower. However, having a shower not only keeps you clean, it also plays an important part in keeping you healthy and fit. According to Ayurveda, a morning shower is an essential part of the daily routine and is considered as a therapeutic activity. Here are a few reasons you should never skip a morning shower.

  1. It calms your muscles: A shower reduces tension in your muscles and can help relax sore muscles. It also helps increase flexibility and muscle elasticity. If you’ve slept awkwardly and woken up with a stiff neck, a shower can help ease the stress and make you more comfortable. Thus, a simple shower could save you a trip to the physiotherapist.
  2. Showers boost circulation: Showering with warm water increases blood circulation and ensures that even cells in your extremities receive nutrition. Increased blood circulation also reduces pressure on your heart and protects you against a number of cardio vascular ailments.
  3. It boosts the immune system: The core function of taking a shower is to clean the body. This reduces the number of bacteria and fungal cells that can infect you. A cold shower also stimulates the vascular and lymph system and promotes the production of white blood cells that fight infections. Showering also helps eliminate toxins that are released along with sweat.
  4. Elevates the mood: If you’re feeling blue, a shower may be what you need. Having a cold water shower activates the nervous system and increases the amounts of chemicals such as beta endorphins and noradrenaline in the blood. These chemicals help fight depression and elevate the mood. Additionally, a cold water shower also sends electrical impulses that have an anti-depressive effect from the brain.
  5. Improves lung functionality: When you put your head under water, you are forced to breathe differently. Showering makes you take a deep breath and hold it in for a few seconds before exhaling. This action opens up your lungs and increases your oxygen intake.
  6. It makes you more sociable: It’s simple; when you bathe, you smell good. This makes people want to be around you and boosts your confidence. You’re also less worried about your hair looking oily or your shoulders being dusted with dandruff when you’ve taken a shower and hence can focus your attention on conversations. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an ayurveda and ask a free question.

Whats are benefits of taking green tea? And what is the suitable time to take it in morning or evening.

Diploma in Diet and Nutrition
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Hyderabad
Whats are benefits of taking green tea? And what is the suitable time to take it in morning or evening.
Green Tea has antioxidants which are good for health. However similarly antioxidants are also available in all natural products like fruits and vegetables. There is no research or scientific evidence to show that green tea can create any weight loss. Most of such weight loss myths are created for marketing of products. Such myths lead people to splurge on samosas etc. followed by Green Tea, in the hope that the Tea will take care of the excess fats and carbs consumed. Thus instead of losing weight they end up gaining weight. The bottom line is - the only way to reduce weight is by following simple natural diet low on Fat/Oil/Sugar/Salt/Maida.. and + daily Intense exercise. Take charge of your health and be a master of your body.

Hello you need not worry. You need to understand the concept of weight loss. It's a gradual process that requires cut down in calories under the guidance of a dietitian and regular exercise. Don't skip breakfast. Sleep for 7-9 hours per night. Avoid fried foods, sweets, carbonated drinks and processed foods. Include whole grains, sprouts, seasonal fruits and vegetables. Take 3 main meals and 2 side meals. Drink plenty of water. Take flaxseed powder 1 tsp with lukewarm water on empty stomach. As you do desk job, do stretching in between and snack on fruits and nuts. Thank you.

Dear lybrate-user, I understand your worries. Your requirements for medicine is a bit higher for your age and duration of diabetes. Tired or exhausted pancreas unable to secrete insulin in optimum amount along with mental stress and physical inactivity may be contributing to such high sugars. You need to become physically very active, regular with healthy food habits and if possible learn some kind of stress management techniques like aol i. E art of living or vipassana. Also follow up with diabetologist regularly with self monitoring of blood glucose (smbg). If required your doctor may advise insulin for a period. Hope this helps you!

Hello sir. I am a boy. And my age is 21 years. I am not healthy for age. I am tinn. How to be healthy?

Certified Diabetes Educator, Registered Dietitian (RD), PGDD, Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (B.U.M.S), General Physician
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
Hello sir. I am a boy. And my age is 21 years. I am not healthy for age. I am tinn. How to be healthy?
I am a registered dietitian and a doctor who will help you in managing your weight. You need to provide me your daily food intake details. There are many lifestyle and dietary guidelines that can be followed: take high protein prescribed diet, have paneer, eggs and potatoe daily. Incorporate dry fruits in your diet on a daily basis. Eat a balanced diet as prescribed by a registered dietitian, I being a registered dietitian and doctor have been successfully helping patients with their problem. I will also prescribe medicines that will speed up the time to achieve your weight management goals. Gradual weight management is always advisable. An increase in 500 kcal per day can result in increasing the body weight by 0.5 kgs per week. Objective should be to restore a desirable weight/ ideal body weight according to one's age, gender and height. To rebuild body tissues, to maintain a good nutritional status and to maintain ideal body weight. I will need to carry out detailed assessment in your case, after assessing your personal challenges to weight management, I will recommend a strategy to gradually change habits and attitudes that have sabotaged your past efforts. I being a both a registered dietitian (rd) and doctor have been successfully helping patients with their problems through a holistic approach using customized therapeutic diet and medications. I will also suggest home remedies. Do reply back for private consultation for rx.

Please tell endura mass is good medicine for mass gainer.

Diploma in Diabetology, Master of Hospital Administration, MBBS
General Physician,
Please tell endura mass is good medicine for mass gainer.
We do not recommend supplements. Our weight should be proportionate to our height. For every given height there is a normal weight range. You must do several things correctly to gain weight. A healthy diet: this is the foundation of gaining weight. If you don't do this right, the other things you do won't be effective and could even be harmful. Follow the following tips:- · Pay attention to your health and food intake. · To increase your appetite, have a glass of lime water or 1 cardamom (elaichi) before your meal. · Have minimum 4 meals in a day. · Drink 1 glass of milk twice a day. · Try to enjoy your meals and gradually increase the quantity you eat every time. · A balance diet should have all essential nutrients in it. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It should include combination of Both Carbohydrates and Proteins for e.g. Oats with Milk or Poha/ Upma with a glass of milk. If you do not like milk have 1-2 egg whites in the morning along with your breakfast. · You need to focus on your protein intake : Increase your protein intake e.g. milk, dairy products- cheese, paneer, lentils (dals), nuts ( soya, peanuts, dry fruits ), pulses e.g. rajma, chole, kidney beans etc. sprouts. If you are a non-vegetarian, then you can have proteins by also eating eggs, chicken, fish. Make sure you are including at least 2 serving of any of these in your daily meal. · Lunch and dinner again should be a combination of Proteins, Carbohydrates and Fats which could have dal, roti, sabji/chicken, salad. · Please do have minimum 4 almonds or a small bowl of peanuts every day. · Please ensure that you drink at least 3 litres of water every day.
