Hello, It's good that you are very active person! Running is best way to burn calories but it increases your stamina! Simple brisk walk or jogging would be good option for you. But it doesn't mean that stop running, because running, just reduce the frequency and duration of running if you want to gain weight. Gaining weight is a slow process which requires patience and dedication! The food what and how you eat, makes the difference! For increasing your weight, concentrate on the below points ( if you don’t have any medical condition) which helps in gaining weight in a right way without harming your body. - Consume more healthy fats. Foods containing healthy fats are full of nutrients and also high in calories, making them a great option for weight gain. Foods containing plant fats should be your first option - this includes items such as nuts, seeds, peanut butter, avocados and olive oil. Foods containing healthy animals fats include lean meats and full fat dairy products - although if you have high cholesterol, you should probably stick to low-fat options. -Eat more protein. Good sources of protein include lean meat, fish and poultry, in addition to eggs, whole grains, dairy products and legumes. -Drink more calories. Try drinking a large glass of orange juice in the mornings (along with your normal breakfast). Drink a glass or two of full-cream milk throughout the day.Protein shakes will help you to gain muscle mass, particularly if you're working out. -Have 6 small and frequent meals in a day. -Gain muscle mass. It's a good idea to continue to exercise while you attempt to gain weight the healthy way. Strength training includes working with weights and performing exercises such as squats, deadlifts, bench presses, bicep curls, crunches, chin-ups and leg curls. Just keep in mind that the more you exercise, the more calories you will need to consume to replace those you lost while working out. This is where protein shakes and bars really come in handy. -Quit smoking. As it suppresses the appetite. -Stay healthy. The most important thing through the entire weight gain process is to stay healthy - eating a balanced diet and continuing to exercise throughout. -Take enough of rest and sleep for rejuvenation of the cells and tissues. -Think Positive which will help you in achieving your target of gaining weight. -Avoid taking unnecessary stress/ tension. Medication: Take Schwabe’s Alfaalfa Tonic and Five Phos., both thrice daily ½ an hour before meals for 1month.

MYTH. ABOUT DIABETES?

Myth 1: I am overweight. I will eventually develop type 2 diabetes
There are many different causes of diabetes and being overweight doesn?t mean you will get the condition but it does tip the scale. The reason obesity is linked to diabetes is because it increases insulin resistance (which means greater amount of insulin is required to regulate blood glucose levels). This makes the pancreas work overtime to produce insulin. This is what causes diabetes. However, there are cases where thin people have uncontrolled diabetes and obese people have no diabetes whatsoever.
Myth 3: I can?t eat sweets or chocolate because I have diabetes
No food is absolutely forbidden as long as attention to portion control and advance meal planning is done. A piece of sweet or chocolate won?t cause any problem but it?s necessary to keep a check on how much of it you consume.
Myth 4: Fruits contain carbohydrates, so I should avoid including them in my diet
Any food that contains carbohydrate will raise blood sugar levels but the only proper way to see how high your blood sugar levels will rise is the glycaemic index (GI). The lower the GI value, the lower will be the rise in blood sugar level and the better it will be for your health. Most fruits have a low GI value. They are also excellent sources of vitamins, minerals and dietary fibre, and are relatively low in calories. Also beware of fruit juices, especially the packaged ones because they?re very high in calories and sugar.
Myth 5: I should eat special diabetic foods if I have diabetes
There is no such thing as a diabetic diet. A healthy diet is one where you get 40-60% calories from carbs, 20% from proteins and 30% or less from fat. And the same is applicable if you have diabetes. Diet for diabetics should include a good amount complex carbs, vegetables and fruits. It should be low in processed foods, fat, salt and added sugar. It?s better to have five small meals a day instead of three large ones and make sure they?re well-spaced out.
Myth 6: I shouldn?t exercise if I have diabetes
On the contrary, exercise is an important part of diabetes treatment. Regular exercise, especially aerobic (walking, jogging, etc.) helps control your weight, gives you more energy and is good for your overall health. It also helps to control blood sugar elevation by increasing the body?s sensitivity to insulin.

Dear sir, I am diabetic in April I check my HbA1c was 7.5, I was taking 750 mg of glyciphage so my Doctor advised to take 500 mg glyciphage 2 times after half hour taking food (ie, 1000 mg), after exactly in July last month my HbA1c showing 9.0, what will be the reason, is any thing went wrong with the laboratory where I am testing , is this possible to shoot from 7.5 to 9.0 in a matter of 3 months. Kindly advise. I am on a tour for a month in Gulf, once I back will check again, I am very careful about my diet , never take sugar or sugar items, will go for gym for half hour without fail every day, thanks

Mr. Lybrate-user, it appears that only metformin is not enough in controlling your diabetes, that is the reason hba1c has gone up. You need to add some more drugs to the treatment for better control of blood glucose. Another aspect your weight is high and bmi is 27.77 kgs/m2, (normal <23 kgs/m2). That also contributes to increased blood blood glucose level. There is an urgent need to add a new drug. If you are willing to do that, then please come in a private conversation with current blood sugar details (fasting and pp). Then I can advise. Or else if you want to weight till your return then my suggestion is exercise more vigorously daily, increase dose of metformin to 1500 mg to 2000 mg daily, tisll you return. Thanks.

Hi that's right as per your height you are overweight and there are specific actions needed for weight loss since the margin to work on is quite a lot. 1. Make your self more active - walk whenever possible/ use staircase / walk & talk 2. Eat small frequent meals 3. Limit processed foods like wafers, biscuits, cakes etc 4. Limit fat intake 5. Add 4 - 5 portions of veggies & fruits for each day 6. Drink lots of water - around 10 - 12 glasses of water/day

Meal Maker is a trade name for soya chunks or nuggets. Soya chunks are made from soya beans after the oil has been extracted. It does not have any side effects and both men and wmone can eat

A bowl of granola can make your breakfast delicious. It provides 500 calories, since it has enough nuts, oats, sugar and healthy fats which are sufficient for increasing body weight. To make it tastier, add some fruits, thick yogurt and drizzle it with honey.

It is a common disease mostly related to infection by water or food. It is very simple to treat diarrhea, using simple remedies; 1. Drink a lot of homemade fluids i. E. Buttermilk, lemon water, lassi, coconut water, fruit juice, plain water, etc. 2. Avoid tea, coffee, and cold drinks. 3. Do not leave food, continue usual amounts, you may include banana, rice etc. 4. Drink ors solution as recommended (1 packet in 1 litre water), 1 glass water after each episode of diarrhea or whenever you feel like drink anything. This is best treatment. In diarrhea, you have to protect yourself from loss of water body, ors helps a lot it.

Your weight is controlled by 4 major factors (1) refined sugar consumption (2) exercise and hydration (3) posture and sitting (4) how many times do you indulge yourself - alcohol, binge eating at parties, overeating etc. Step 01: refined sugar 1. Avoid all snacks and commercial products with sugar in them - biscuits, cakes, bournvita, horlicks, coke, pepsi, energy drinks, sweetened yogurt etc. 2. Cut down on your daily intake of tea/coffee and maintain it at 3-4 cups a day. 3. Try to add little sugar to any beverage (coffee, tea, milk, lemon water etc.) that you have and ideally you should refrain from adding any sugar altogether. Step 02: get exercise and proper hydration 1. Try to work out for 20 minutes each day. You do not necessarily have to go to the gym. You can incorporate some pretty powerful exercises in your daily routine like - squats, skipping, surya namaskar and core exercises. 2. Drink 8-10 glasses of water everyday but remember that tea/coffee are not substitutes for pure water. Step 03: improve posture and sitting habits if you have a sitting job then ensure that you do not sit for more than 30 minutes at one stretch. Get up and move a little after every 30 minutes. Step 04: stop indulging and eat more of raw natural stuff 1. No more than 60 ml of hard liqour or 2 glasses of beer per day. 2. Try to eliminate the urge to overeat but if you do overeat try to limit the incidents to two times per week. 3. Eat 4 servings of fruits per day. 4. Each of your meal should contain 50% of raw vegetables. Once you incorporate the above points in your routine you will see a dramatic difference in your weight, physical shape and energy levels. You will find that there are a lot of companies out there that are trying to sell expensive products to naive consumers in the name of weight loss. These products may not necessarily be good for you. Losing and maintaining weight is something which is totally in your hands, it is easy and it is free of cost if you follow the above mentioned points.

Do exercise.Eat small amount of food frequently.Avoid fast foods,junk foods.Drink lots of water specially before meals.Use ginger and lemon drink in the morning and evening.Eat plenty of vegetables,whole fruits.Use healthy fat in cooking but not much.These are basic things but consult me privately on lybrate to know more details about specific foods.

Dear to decrease ur weight you have to do work out daily...Try the remedies below they can help u. 1. Mix three teaspoons of lemon juice, one teaspoon of honey, and one-half teaspoon of black pepper powder in one glass of water. 2. Drink it in the morning on an empty stomach. 3. Do this daily for at least three months. 4. Drink mint tea or make a paste of green mint with some simple spices and eat during meals. 5. Eat vegetables such as bitter gourd and drumsticks to control obesity. 6. Do Bhujang asana , Dhanurasana ,Naukasana, Kumbhakasana , Pavanamukthasana daily 10 min per asana. 7. Do running early morning daily and join aerobics in evening. 8. Avoid oily and spicy food..and Constipation.

It will take some effort for you to flatten your tummy. I am outlining a 21 day plan for you. If you follow this plan sincerely then you will see a noticeable difference in just 21 days. There are 5 things that you need to do: 1. Eliminate all refined sugars from your diet. This means no sugar in your tea/coffee/milk, no consumption of sugary beverages like coke, pepsi and total elimination of all snacks like biscuits, cakes, sweet dishes. I know it is difficult but remember that you just have to adhere to this for 21 days. If you wish to snack you can have unsalted peanuts, dry fruits, seeds or yogurt. 2. When you get up in the morning, put your pillow aside and lie with your back straight. Put both your legs together and lift them so your legs are at a 30 degree angle with the bed. Maintain this pose of 5 minutes. Keep breathing while your legs are in the air. 3. Eliminate dinner altogether. In place of dinner have a bowl of papaya. You can have a small bowl of yogurt with black salt if you are not able to control your urge. 4. Keep hydrated through out the day. You need to drink at least 10 glasses of water every day. Tea/coffee are not substitutes of water. Minimize consumption of milk. Add raw vegetables to each meal. 5. One 500mg tablet of calcium d-glucarate and one tablet of b-complex every day. If you miss even one of the steps mentioned above during your 21 day regime then you have to start all over again from day 1. Please bear in mind that it takes 21 consecutive days of performing all the above mentioned steps for the stomach muscles to start toning up.

Yes it is true. One need not take efforts to boil the ingredients and take them raw. Eg eat few pods of raw garlic with water every day (it is difficult to chew) drink fresh lemon juice + spoon of honey every day on empty stomach. Drink apple cider vinegar diluted with water as much as you can tolerate. Regarding a spoon of honey for diabetics - calories are 20-30 only but benefits are lots from being an anti septic, helps acidity and dry cough plus retains water and minerals of body. Cut down 30 calories else where like half a chapati/ half katori of rice. Above studies are only tested on humans through word of mouth no scientific studies have been published. There is no harm/side effects except take less of above if blood thinners like aspirin are been prescribed. All of these do lead to thinning of blood also which is good for the heart.

As per your concern i would suggest you to do following remedy 1. Soak 10 almonds in water overnight 2. Peel off the skin and crush them the next morning 3. Take 1 cup hot cow's milk 4. Add the crushed almonds 5. Add a pinch of ginger powder 6. Add a pinch of cardamom powder 7. Add a pinch of saffron 8. Mix well 9. Drink this every morning it will surely help you Your problem is permanently cure by ayurvedic treatment.

Hi lybrate-user, Coffee has some nutrients and high in antioxidants but it causes acidity and reflux to some people. You can take 1cup green tea and 1 cup ginger tea but cut down on coffee. 1 cup of coffee in a day is sufficient. Hope that helps.

Homoeopathy has good treatment for your problem, without causing adverse effects. Take homoeopathic medicine calc carb 30 daily in the morning and in the evening and give feedback after 6 days.
