Weight gain is muscle gain and not fat gain. In your condition your energy requirement is very high so whatever you eat is used as a source of energy and you do not make muscle. To gain muscles you will have to eat at least 6 meals (high calorie) in a day at a regular interval with a proper ratio of proteins and carbohydrates. Proteins will help you gain body mass while carbohydrates will help you give energy. Protein foods are eggs, fish, chicken, milk and milk products, meat and dals. Carbohydrate foods are roti and rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes. You have to eat vegetables and fruits and use healthy and good fats for cooking like ghee, cold pressed mustrad or til oil. You will also have to do some weight training exercise to help you build mass into the body. Also drink enough water to keep you hydrated.

Do belly exercise and you should go for 45 minutes brisk walk in the morning. Take one glass lukewarm water with lemon. And eat less carbohydrates and low calorie foods. Avoid junk foods. Don't use rice at night. Drink more water in a day. Take salad before meals. Take sprouts. Don't use table salt. Take small and frequent meal. Give me a private message I will help you with more. Hey, lybrate-user your ideal weight has to be around 48 kg to 50 kg. You are severly under weight. I suggest you to take high carbohydrate, high protein and moderate fat diet. You also need some supplements. I would suggest if you can start taking spirulina everyday for atleast 3 months.

Hi lybrate user, in this age there is no possiblity absolutely for any pathological complaints. Its looking purely psychological. If you are student, then it might be related to stress, either work, or mental, family related issues, any personal problems. If you are thinking more abt those, or wrrying abt any those related issues. Will cause exertion of mind, psychologically weak, depressed. Some times, these all interrelated with lack of sleep, less intake of food, due to low appetite. If its since 4-5 yrs, then you might have seen any psychologist by then itself, evn now also. No problem, you can overcome from all these if you try to put few efforts. Like diverting your mind to some other avocation, whichever you like more like. It could be music. Listening or learning, writing/reading/sports/making trip for just changing the environment, learning any other your interested hobby, working some where at your comfortable zone, as part time or full time,& also. Practicing yoga/meditation/pranayama/breathing exercises[which will be taught in art of living like classes] will help alot to get rid of your problems.

Get yourself diagnosed. Go for a thyroid test, with all tsh t3 & t4 levels. Do continue with your swimming. And its good you having a decent diet. Still include more of fibrous fruits rich in vitamin c.

Sir, I had sugar (diabetes) my age is 53, our doctor said that sugar is in bones & brain less in blood, and my glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1C: 8.2 % & I'm taking ENDOGLIM M2 500 ,1/2 morning & evening and also I had HDL Cholesterol :28 mg/dl. Please suggest any more medicines or any exercise and diet, if required.

lybrate-user, If one has diabetes, then blood glucose level goes up. There is nothing like "sugar is more in brain & bone" If glucose is higher than normal it is reflected as high levels in blood and increased HbA1c%. With HbA1c%8.2, you have an uncontrolled diabetes. Ideally when it is good control, FBG should be closer to 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c%<6.8. HDL level is also low. There is no mention of other lipids. It appears that present medications are not as effective as they should be. So one may have to give a re-look at the treatment, diet and exercise etc. Thanks.

For diabetes follow a diet low in carbohydrate, low in fat and high in fibre. Walking for 30 mins a day for at least 5 days in a week is recommended. Reversing is possible if you follow diet and exercise (only if your blood sugar are slightly elevated)

Hello to gain weight you should eat more calories than you burn. Plus not only you have to eat calorie dense food but you have to keep in mind that what you are eating is healthy too. Follow these things: 1. Start exercising. Start working out if you are not active. The biggest myth that prevails now a days is that thin people do not need to work out. This is wrong. When you challenge your body, it is forced to grow. But this growth can only be possible if you are eating enough food to let the body absorb and grow in size and muscles. 2. Eat healthy. Stop drinking and smoking too much if you are indulged in it. Limit your intake of junk food and any form of sugar. Do not at all starve yourself. Make it a habit to eat something healthy every 3 hours. This means you have to eat 6 small meals in a day. Your daily food intake should ideally consist of nuts, dry fruits, seeds, almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, figs, dates and raisins. They are full of healthy fats needed by a human body. 3. Consume good amount of fruits and vegetables. Bananas, apples, pomegranate, green leafy vegetables. Fruits and vegetables helps in absorption of food in the body and together, completes your daily nutrition need. 4. Eat whole grains. Try to have multi grains spread throughout the day. Wheat, brown rice, oats, bajra, daliya etc should be taken in multiple meals in a day. 5.have it with banana shake twice a day. Chana and moong which are full of protein and nutrients. 6. Increase protein intake. Protein proves to be the most essential nutrient when it comes down to gaining strength or building muscle. Therefore, consume all types of protein from both veg and non veg food items. Chana and moong which are full of protein and nutrients. Try to be patient while you are on the process of weight gain. Results take time to show. Just follow the regimen of weight gain religiously and you will soon start seeing the results.

I tested t3 t4 tsh on 6th dec 2016. It was normal. T3- 125 ng/dl T4- 10.2 Tsh- 2.74 I gained weight. And when I get this tested I was overweight and now I am ograde one obese. 84 kgs and 5 feet 5 inch is my weight and height. Does in 8 months I am going to hypothyroidism. Is it possible.
