How can you get more of these antioxidants into your body?

M.sc - Nutrition Science
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Delhi
How can you get more of these antioxidants into your body?

The secret to consuming more antioxidants is simple: Eat more organic fresh fruits and vegetables.

The simplest and most effective way to expose yourself to more antioxidants is through your diet. By incorporating at least five servings of fruit and vegetables a day into your diet, you may be helping your body reduce its chances of heart disease, neurological diseases, cancer and lowered immunity.

Studies show that it is more effective to get antioxidants through diet, as opposed to taking supplements. So, enjoy eating a variety of these fruits and veggies daily!!

When I visit small distance here and there then I get very tired . So please tell me what I do?

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda, Faridabad
*improve your eye muscle flexibility. Whenever eyes start to feel tired, do a couple of eye flexibility exercises. 1. Slowly make a figure-eight with your eyes 2. Move your eyes up and down and from side to side in an open space 3. Massage the areas around your eyes (not on top of your eyes, but the muscles around them) *at the very least, look out the window and do some flexibility and strength exercises. *go out in the sun, close your eyes and slowly turn your head from side to side with the sun shining on your face. This is incredibly relaxing *hold your thumb a few inches in front of you. Practice focusing on your thumb and something at least 20 feet away from you. Making your eyes do short and long distance helps them get stronger. *blink rapidly when your eyes are tired. This can help your muscles relax and helps with blurriness.

How Much Should You Pee Daily?

LCPS, BAM&S
Integrated Medicine Specialist, Satara
How Much Should You Pee Daily?

While most of us think of peeing nothing more than a routine, there is a lot more science to it. There are definitely various factors which decide how much a person pees. It is normal for a healthy person to urinate between 4 to 10 times in a span of 24 hours. However, both less than this and more than this can be an indicator of ill health.

Also, the kidneys remove a lot of toxins and what is present in the urine is a definite indicator of overall health. It is not without reason that a urine analysis is done when any disease is suspected.

Factors determining urine output:

  1. Age: Infants pee a lot more than adults, who have more control over their peeing. With old age, again, the frequency increases.
  2. Water consumption: This is directly related to the frequency of urination. More water, more urination.
  3. Liquid consumption: Not all that you drink translates to urine. Caffeine and alcohol increase urine output. Caffeine is found in tea, coffee, sports and energy drinks, etc.
  4. Bladder size: Some people inherently have a smaller bladder size, and therefore cannot retain more urine. They will visit the bathroom more often. The maximum capacity is about 1.5 L.
  5. Conditions like pregnancy: Needless to say, as pregnancy advances, the frequency of urination increases. This is due to pressure on the bladder from the growing baby. Even after delivery, the frequency will be more for up to 8 weeks.
  6. Medication usage: For people with heart disease, kidney disease, and blood pressure, diuretics are given, which is intended to increase urine output. These people will have more urine output.
  7. Conditions like diabetes: One of the first warning signs of diabetes is the increased frequency of urination. Diabetics often have a greater number of visits to the bathroom.
  8. Conditions like urinary tract infection: Wherever the urinary tract is affected, it is likely to have more visits to the bathroom. Other associated factors like changes in color, odor, appearance and burning sensation while urination, can also indicate the underlying problem.
  9. Problems like prostate enlargement: This is one condition in men which can reduce urine output. The enlarged prostate blocks the prostate and so reduces urine output.
  10. Urinary incontinence: This issue, more common in women, is when the bladder muscles weaken with age. There is difficulty in holding urine for prolonged periods, and so there is a greater urge to urinate.

So, how much is normal?

  1. Anywhere between 6 to 10 times is normal for a person who drinks about 2 liters of water per day.
  2. Less than four or more than 10 is usually a cause for concern. This is of course if there are none of the above factors which can increase or decrease output. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Ayurveda.

Using a natural remedy for itching

Master in Psychology, MD - Ayurveda, Dems, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda,
Using a natural remedy for itching
Using a natural remedy for itching

If you need a remedy for itching, try the following natural cures:

Sufferers of chronic itchy skin should seek medical attention to rule out any underlying cause or disease. Typically, health care professionals will treat itchy skin with hydrocortisone cream or, in some cases, prednisone steroids. If you need help finding an effective herbal or organic remedy, a physician practicing holistic medicine may be a suitable match to treat your itching skin.

Coconut oil/lemon juice:

A mixture of equal parts coconut oil and lemon juice is believed to reduce inflammation and remedy itch. For ease of application, fill a spray bottle with the mixture and apply liberally as needed.

Oatmeal:

Oatmeal is one of the most popular natural remedies to relieve itching. Add two cups of uncooked oatmeal to warm bathwater and soak for 15-20 minutes.

Menthol:

Any topical rub containing menthol, such as vick's topical
Vaporub will immediately help an itch subside.

Aloe vera gel:

A natural cure-all, aloe vera gel can be applied liberally as needed to itchy skin, it will naturally soften and cool the tender skin.

Baking soda:

Baking soda is a useful and effective home remedy for itching. To make a baking soda paste, mix together baking soda and water to desired consistency, and rub on affected areas as needed to treat an itch.
