I can see a layer over the area where my tooth and gum meets. I thought it was some king of gap earlier. But wen I looked it closely I can see that a layer has been eroded. What to do. Please help.

BDS

This seems like cervical erosion. Check your brushing techniques. Change your brush every three months and for more help regarding the restoration of the lossed tooth structure have one consultation with the dentist.

My teeth are yellow
what should I use?
Keep them clean brush twice a day and use listerine mouthwash. If no relief go for cleaning and polishing /bleaching is the last option.

I have an old filling in one of my teeth which hurts sometimes only while chewing food. Is it something to be concern...
Hello the question you posted is genuine concern. Old fillings can sometimes be cracked and have a leakage which goes unnoticed and cud lead to sensitive tooth to occasional pain while biting. At times there cud also be a crack in the offended tooth. Please pay a visit to your dentist at the earliest. Your dentist wud have a clinical or if needed a check with an xray and wud suggest treatment depending on the severity. Mr/ Ms. P please don't be worried, but definately its a concern and do not delay to visit your dentist

I'm having discomfort because of my braces. Is it gonna affect my brain? Please help me.

MDS - Orthodontics, BDS

I'm having discomfort because of my braces. Is it gonna affect my brain? Please help me.
No its definitely not going to affect your brain or any part of your body. Its totally normal to have discomfort with braces initially. It happens because your teeth are moving slowly inside your jaw as the braces are aligning your teeth with mild force. You can rinse your mouth with lukewarm water to get temporary relief from this discomfort. The discomfort will subside on its own after two days.

Is there any problem. If the tooth is swallowed by a student studying in 2 std.

BDS
Dentist,
Most of the times a milk tooth which has been accidentally been swallowed off does not cause any problem, as the tooth will pass out with stools if your child complains of stomach ache or any such problem, consult your physician immediately.

If the mouth ulcer is causing a lot of pain, gently rub a small ice cube over the spot or rinse your mouth with ice-cold water. You could also chew on a clove bud (lavang) and direct the juice generated to the area where the ulcer is located. Clove buds are a great ingredient to cure sore throat too. To prevent the ulcerated area from getting infected, make it a point to rinse your mouth with a little salt water. Remember, this won’t make the ulcer disappear, but it can help reduce the pain. Honey is a natural humectant. It helps reduce scarring and hastens the process of new tissue growth. This, along with its anti-microbial effect ensures faster healing of the mouth ulcer. Chew a few leaves of tulsi along with some water about three to four times every day. This will help in getting rid of ulcers faster and also have a preventive action against their recurrence. Applying a little coconut oil directly onto the mouth ulcer or chewing some coconut (fresh or dry) helps reduce pain and inflammation and hence, ulcers heal faster. Mix some sugar to crushed khus-khus seeds and consume this mixture for instant relief from ulcers. You could apply a little ghee directly to the ulcerated area, or drink a glass of buttermilk two or three times every day. Mouth ulcers left untreated generally go away in a week or so; with these home remedies, you can expect faster relief. However, if you notice an ulcer in the mouth that is persistently present although it does not cause you any pain, do not neglect it or try to treat it with home remedies beyond a few days. Make it a point to see a doctor soon because often, a painless mouth ulcer is one of the earliest signs of oral cancer.

Why You Have Sensitive Teeth:
Acidic Foods
The consumption of too many acidic foods erodes the enamel on your teeth

Teeth Grinding
grinding of the teeth also destroys the natural structure of your teeth. Over time, your teeth might become sensitive.

Gum Recession
The roots of your teeth are nicely protected by gum tissue, but when the gums recede the root becomes exposed thus causing sensitive teeth.

Recent Dental Work
Short term tooth sensitivity can also be caused by recent dental work. You should not worry, because this is only a temporary side effect and sensitivity will go away in a few weeks.

Trigeminal neuralgia has long course of medicinal treatment. If medicine is no more effective then we can either go for alcohol injection which gives you relief for about 6 months or neurectomy which has very less chance of recurrence.

Which is better and safe option in young age b/w dental implant and bridge?

MBA (Healthcare), BDS
Dentist,
Implant is better than bridge for replacing missing teeth bcoz of the following reasons 1. For implant the support is coming directly from the bone like natural teeth 2. No need to reduce the normal adjacent teeth and going for unnecessary root canal treatment like bridge option 3. The missing teeth site after some years the bone will shrink and come down but when you put implant it will maintains the bone level where it is now.

My one teeth is half broken & another one is 1/3rd broken. What should I do. So that no one knows about my fallen teeth. Pls give me some advice.

BDS
Dentist, Pune
Broken teeth are successfully restored in today's modern dental practice. First aim should be to save the broken tooth if it is in the limit of restoration. Half broken teeth might need root canal treatment to save it. And other one might be saved with simple restoration. Share your pics if you can.
