You have not stated properly how long the headache lasts each time it comes. If it's for only a few hours and goes away after sleep, it is likely to be a tension headache. He may be having stress due to study or problems in school or home. Drinking less water may also cause headache due to dehydration. Blocked nose, sinus infection and nasal allergy also may cause long standing headache. Migraine headache lasts longer, usually more than a day if untreated. Get him properly examined by your local pediatrician. He may need a CT Scan to diagnose if the problem is persistent and worsening.

Your baby's weight is adequate for the age & whatever foods you are giving is correct. Some children pass stools as soon as they are fed. It is called as exaggerated gastrocolic reflex. As long as the stools are well formed nothing to worry about it.

Fever always has a cause for it. You can treat fever with paracetamol and meftal p. If the fever still does not come down, I suggest giving tapid sponging until the fever is less than 100 f. Sponging is the most effective treatment of fever! however as I said earlier, we should find out the cause of fever, if infection, than the focus of infection and treat accordingly. If it is due to viral causes, supportive treatment for a couple of days would be sufficient. Keep the baby clean, prevent the baby from rapid climate changes, and make her/him drink lots of fluids. Your baby will do well. Feel free to contact anytime!

My son is 1 month and 16 days old. Last few days ago we saw some little drop of blood in his stool. Then we went to doctor. He advised for his stool test. We did his stool test and found mucus, pus cell is 10-12/hpf and occult blood is negative. After seeing the stool test report Doctor said, there is an infection in his stool. Dr. Prescribed Omnix-50 (antibiotic) and Gut-Ok twice a day for five days. After completion of medicine I did another stool test at another lab and found mucus is still present, pus cell is negative, occult blood is negative. After seeing the second stool test report doctor said now there is no infection. Then we told him he has completed all medicines in time but we saw little drop of blood in his every stool when he passes till day. Then Doctor told us, there is no blood in his stool. Actually doctor says there is no blood but we say there is blood. I want to know Is there any blood in his stool or not? If there is blood then what can we do now and if there is no blood then what is this red little drops which look like as same as blood. please reply……

Get stool test done for presence of occult blood when you notice blood & include blood part of stool. If stool is positive for blood, check color of blood, if it is bright red it is coming from rectum or anus. If it is black blood is from intestines. Treatment is entirely different in two situations. Let us know we will help you out.

CALMING TIPS FOR CHILDREN WITH ATTENTION DEFICIT HYPERACTIVITY

Parents of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) know the "Would you please just settle down!" phrase well, and likely use it on a regular basis.

There are a number of tips to help parents settle their child with ADHD down. These quick tips and relaxation techniques take the same amount of time as yelling and scolding but produce incredibly different results in children with ADHD.

Quick Calming Tips:
Try quick tips to calm a hyperactive child down during temper outbursts or unusually rowdy days. These calming tips are not novel to adults by any stretch. How many times have you heard "Take a deep breath and count to 10" or "Calgon, take me away." What works for big people works for little people as well. Deep breathing is one of the simplest ways to calm the body. Teach your children to take deep breaths (in through the nose, out through the mouth) when they begin to feel frustrated and out of control. Parents, you do this too!

Draw a warm salt bath or bubble bath to wash away the child's stresses of the day.

Take your child for a walk or send them around the block on their own if they are old enough. Not only does walking burn off excess energy, the repetitive thump, thump, thump of feet hitting pavement brings the mind back into focus.

Give your child a mini-massage. Touch is very important to Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder children. Massaging their temples, giving a shoulder rub or lightly running your fingers through their hair can calm children quickly.

Put together a "Boredom Box" that provides creative outlets for your hyperactive child. Fill this box or plastic storage bin with paint sets, coloring books, crossword puzzles, modeling clay, jewelry making kits and other artistic areas of interest. Children with ADHD bore easily and their fast spinning minds need extra stimulation. In the absence of nothing better to do, children with ADHD will lean on their own devises and you don't want them doing that. Better that they draw than set the cat on fire...

The quick-fix calming techniques work to sooth the child with ADHD after they already became too stressed or active. There are also techniques that parents can teach their child with ADHD to help them get the "stuff" out before it builds up and explodes.

Create a calming home environment:
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder children have difficulty remaining calm in a hectic environment. Clearing the clutter and taking a "less is more" approach to decorating can reduce the sensory overload on the ADHD child.

The Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder child's bedroom especially should be free of clutter. Use plastic bins to organize and store all those precious little plastic treasures (that we adults commonly refer to as "junk") and small toys. Open the curtains to provide natural lighting. Keep posters and wall hangings to a minimum. Paint the child's bedroom in calming muted colors instead of bright primary colors.

If you play music in the house, opt for soft "elevator music" or classical music instead of rock. Try to avoid loud clatters and noises when your Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder child is at home.

Follow a Routine:
All children thrive in homes that provide routines, consistency and structure. Children with ADHD especially need structure and schedules to feel secure in their surroundings. For these children, a more "military" approach to routines works better. Waking up, eating meals, doing homework, and bed times should all occur at about the same time every day, with few surprises to upset the Attention Deficit or hyperactive child.

A Place to Relax:
If at all possible, find a space in the house to designate as a relaxation space. It does not have to be a large space but it does need to be away from high activity areas. This little corner (or even a portion of a walk-in closet) can have a beanbag chair and a few books, coloring books or other quiet time activities.

Encourage your child to go to this space when they become angry or out of control, but never make this a place of punishment. This special spot in the house is a positive place where they can go to settle down, sort things out or just hang out when they need to be alone.

Journaling:
For the child who is old enough to write, journaling is an excellent way to untangle frazzled minds and get things off their chest. This technique allows children with ADHD to spill their internal stresses outside themselves and onto paper.

Develop a daily habit of having your child write a page or two, depending on their age, about anything that comes to mind. They can write "I hate school, the dog just drooled, the baby's crying is driving me crazy..." - whatever comes to mind. Eventually, they will get to the guts of what is going on inside them. Then rumple or tear the paper up and throw it away.

These private internal thoughts are not for you or anyone else to read, ever. Please respect their privacy and let them know they can write anything down without fear of reprimand.

Taking a mini-vacation with Guided Imagery:
Guided imagery is a powerful relaxation tool for children with ADHD that pulls their focus to positive thoughts, all the while encouraging creativity in your child. You can check out books on this technique at your local library if you want further information on the subject.

Last, but certainly not least, diet:
Some parents find that reducing or eliminating sugar from the diet goes a long way in calming the hyperactive child. If your child is a finicky eater, you will need to supplement the diet to make sure your Attention Deficit or hyperactive child has the fuels needed for his body to function well.

Starting the day out with a healthy breakfast balanced with proteins, fats and carbs is important. An egg sandwich, peanut butter toast and fresh fruit, protein shakes and fresh fruit smoothies are great ways to start the day for children with ADHD.

Sugar cereals are quick and convenient but should not be used as a breakfast mainstay. Fruit juices are high in calories and sugar and not recommended for children, especially those with Attention Deficit or hyperactivity. Instead of juice or sodas, get in the habit of offering plain old H2O. With plenty of bottled waters that offer fruit flavors and vitamin enhancements, getting your children hydrated is easier now than ever before.

Respected sir my kid who is now 5 and a half year old was detected with bilateral relfux. His treatment is going under local expert doctors. We are not satisfy with the results till now. The condition is getting worst day by day. His bilateral urinary replacement is done. Still with his latest report we found that he has protienosis +, acidosis +, high blood pressure, and serum creatinine is 1.1 mg. We are just so worried and cant think of something else than his health.

MD - Paediatrics

I would like to know whether reports are worsening or improving. What do you mean by bilateral urinary replacement(was ureterostomy done and if yes then when)? Also how severely the kidney is affected(was DMSA test done). Once the surgical decompression done the reflux decreases and the reports starts improving. Please attach the reports and provide details so that I better able to help you out. Regards

My concern is with 2.6 years old daughter who is having constipation problem. We have visited to several doctors and most of them recommended for Piclin. The problem is whenever we give piclin at night after dinner, there is no issue with her stool however, if we do not give the syrup, she will not. I need your suggestion on this. Any medicine for constipation is temporary, the basic reason is lack of fiber in the diet. Give just 2 milk feeds plus 3-4 solid feeds, inclubing fibrous items, e. G dalia, cornflakes, salad, green leafy veg, fruits like cheeku, mango etc.

Easing Your Dental Anxieties

Easing Your Dental Anxieties

Dental anxiety or the fear of dentistry has been a buzz word for many to ignore and avoid trips to the dental chair unless there's a very strong pain related stimulus to do so.

While going to the dentist has never been perceived as a pleasant predicament to be in, the levels or degree to which they feel this unpleasantness, can vary widely from person to person.

There are those of us who just feel like procrastinating the appointment and then there are those of us who cannot sleep the previous night and pass out or throw up when we actually make it to the appointment.

Scientific basis underlying this is the degree of fear that you associate with the experience, so no matter whether you are just anxious or downright phobic here are a few things that'll help you keep your emotions and fear in check.

All talk no work -discussion based appointment.

If you're anxious or phobic it helps to ensure that you have all your concerns addressed before you jump on to the chair. (and so to speak the unknown)

Help your dentist identify the things that maybe difficult for you. People are usually scared of particular things like for some of maybe the sound of the drill, for others the water in their mouth so ensure you identify and communicate what's most unacceptable to you so that the dentist can be cautious and customize your treatment.

Timing is key

Fix your appointment before pain hits.

Communicate the degree of fear while making the appointment or request a tele consult to discuss your particular concerns.

Try and schedule a time when you can ensure the doctor is expecting you and won't keep you waiting so your anxiety doesn't grow.

Do your research

When choosing a practice ensure you know what their philosophy is in general and how do they manage dental pain, anxiety and phobias.

It would be advisable to ensure you are going to a practice trained and geared to manage your specific issues.

Besides being a great dental clinic with the right team and technology -the doctor needs to empathise with the reality of dental fear and should be trained to treat you in a different way then regular patients who can

Check in advance if the practice is painfree.

If you do end up doing the procedure,

Break your fear into bite sized chunks

Then ensure you choose to start with a smaller treatment and a shorter session like a cleaning or something that you don't attach fear to.

Once you have a rapport with the doctor you tend to build trust and get comfortable you can start coming in more regularly.

Do not do an internet search on your problem or talk to friends or relatives

The worst thing an anxious patient can do is tap the wrong resource for information. Please ensure that you are not self diagnosing and finding things that match your symptoms online. Things appear way more gory than they actually are on the internet! another mistake that people make often is discussing their dental problem with friends and family who further scare you with their bad experiences and your fear is compounded to a point where you now think all their cumulative dental mishaps are sure to happen to you.
Our advice is follow the above steps find the right doctor and then just sit back relax and enjoy your smile!

At least Family members should start to talk to him slowly and encourage him to talk slowly, he should not be fast to speak. Gradually he may start to speak without stammering. You may consult speech therapist also.
