Allergies - Causes Behind It!

Allergies - Causes Behind It!

Allergies, or allergic reactions, are common occurrences, which are caused by unnatural reactions between your body's immune system and foreign substances, which have gained access into the body. When these substances, known as allergens, enter your body, your immune system produces antibodies, which are responsible for warding off unwanted substances like harmful viruses or diseases and helping in the body's overall resistance.

However, when antibodies identify a particular allergen as harmful, when it really isn't, a reaction occurs which may lead to inflammation or infection of the skin, sinuses, the digestive tract and the respiratory tract, among others. Allergies usually differ from individual to individual and can vary from mild skin irritations to fatal life-threatening emergencies.

Symptoms
Symptoms of allergies depend upon a wide range of factors, which are subjective and vary from person to person and from allergen to allergen. Depending upon the type of allergen involved and the nature of the allergy, symptoms may include any of the following:

  1. Sneezing
  2. Running nose
  3. Severe itching
  4. Swollen or red and watery eyes
  5. Hives
  6. Rashes
  7. Facial swelling
  8. Wheezing
  9. Flaky skin which can peel off

These symptoms are common in mild to moderate allergies, such as atopic dermatitis, hay fever, drug or food allergies. There are certain rare cases (say, scorpion stings), however, in which the allergic reaction turns out to be potentially life-threatening. This type of reaction is known as anaphylaxis. Here are its signs and symptoms:

  1. Intense shortness of breath
  2. Lightheadedness
  3. Nausea and vomiting
  4. Loss of consciousness
  5. Skin rashes
  6. Weak pulse
  7. A significant drop in blood pressure

Causes
The main cause of allergy is the uncontrolled reaction between the immune system's antibodies and harmless allergens. Allergic reactions are triggered when antibodies, like histamine, come into contact with particular types of allergens. These may include:

  1. Airborne allergens: Pollen, mold, or dust mites
  2. Insect stings: Bee stings or scorpion stings
  3. Certain eatables: Peanuts or sea food
  4. Medications: Penicillin or penicillin-based antibiotics
  5. Latex: Latex or other substances,  which are responsible for causing allergic skin reactions. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Homeopath.

Bronchitis (asthama) is inflammation of bronchus system. Majority of time problem is allergic in condition. The best and safest way to getting rid of your asthma is not formoteral fumerate budesonide inhaler, go and try homeopathy which will cure from the suffering were as inhaler are just bronchi dilators which primary action is bronchi dilators but secondary action it leads to severe bronchi constriction which led to again severe aggravation of your problems.

Dear Lybrateuser, - For a strong immune system one has to lead a healthy life including having a well balanced diet, regular exercise, proper sleep & keep stress levels low - have a variety of fruits, vegetables including green leafy ones, whole grains instead of refined ones, protein rich foods such as eggs, milk & milk products, lean meats, legumes, sprouts & nuts - do regular exercise like walking, jogging, swimming, do moderate weight lifting twice a week, also do yoga, meditation & deep breathing to keep body fit - sleep well for at least 7-8 hrs at night, keep your sleep & wake up time fixed - destress by reading or listening to music - take plenty of oral fluids including 8-10 glasses of water for proper hydration - avoid alcohol, smoking & pollution.

Allergic Rhinitis and Homeopathic Management

BHMS
Homeopath, Hyderabad

Allergic rhinitis
Allergic rhinitis, also commonly known as hay fever, is a type of inflammation in the nose which occurs when the immune system overreacts to allergens in the air. Signs and symptoms include a runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, red, itchy, and watery eyes, and swelling around the eyes.

Causes of Allergic rhinitis
A weak immunity reacts to the certain responses. This over reaction of the immunity is the root cause of the problem. When your body comes into contact with an allergen, it releases histamine, which is a natural chemical that defends your body from the allergen. This chemical causes allergic rhinitis and its symptoms, including a runny nose, sneezing, and itching of the eyes.

In addition to pollen, other common causes include:
•    Grass
•    Dust
•    Animal dander, which is old skin
•    Cat saliva
•    Mold

During certain times of the year, pollen can be especially problematic. Tree and flower pollens are more common in the spring. Grasses and weeds produce more pollen in the summer and fall.

Symptoms of Allergic rhinitis
Common symptoms of allergic rhinitis include:
•    Sneezing
•    A runny nose
•    A stuffy nose
•    An itchy nose
•    Coughing
•    A sore or scratchy throat
•    Itchy eyes
•    Watery eyes
•    Dark circles under the eyes
•    Frequent headaches
•    Eczema-type symptoms, such as having extremely dry, itchy skin that often blisters
•    Hives
•    Excessive fatigue

Types of Allergic rhinitis
There are two types of allergic rhinitis:-
•    Seasonal- Starts when there is a change in season. Pollen-based allergies are usually seasonal.
•    Perennial - This lasts all year. Perennial allergies usually occur due to sensitivity to dust mites, cockroaches, or animal dander. Its possible to be in constant contact with all of these allergens on a daily basis.

The role of Homoeopathy Allergic rhinitis:-
In Allopathy, antihistamines or immunosuppressant medicines like steroids are used which only give temporary relief, and the problem reappears again, once the medicine is stopped. While, in Homeopathic treatment, allergy is cured by strengthening the immune system and the symptoms subside on their own. It needs to be understood that Allergies diseases are the outer reflection of the internal problem. So, we need to increase the immunity of the patient and which can be strengthened by Homeopathic medicines.
There are many homoeopathic medicines that have the potential to cure Allergic rhinitis. Out of them, some well-known Homeopathic medicines are Arsenic album, Allium cepa, Belladonna, Kali bich, Lemna Minor, Sabadilla, Pulsatilla, Sulphur, Rhus Tox, etc.
