Toothpicks can be an alternative to use for flossing if dental floss is not available. Remember not to be too harsh while using it.

Using an appropriate tooth paste is very necessary for the health of our teeth. Tooth pastes which contain flouride help in keeping the teeth healthy by reducing the risk of tooth decay.

I have gap in my teeth. Also my two front teeth are very wide, approx 10.5 to 11mm. My doctor is saying that before going for braces, I should have rct on both teeth and shape it to reduce its width. Is it good to go for rct and alter the natural teeth or should I go for braces without changing width of these two teeth.

I have got recently teeth pain during eating, what should I do?

BDS
Dentist,
Kindly get an x-ray done of the tooth having pain and may be you will have to get root canal treatment done followed by a crown or cap. Till then you can take a pain killer like tab dentaforce dt 1 tab dissolved in water. Brush your teeth twice daily using correct brushing technique and avoid eating from that side of the tooth having pain.

7 years back I hurt my front tooth. 3 years back I dropped my mobile phone on the gums of the same tooth. Slowly the tooth color changed. One month back pain started in the root of the same tooth. I've taken an x-ray, the abscess appear to be spreading to the root of next tooth. Can this be treated without disturbing the shape of my tooth from outside?

In such a case , Root canal treatment is the only option. Please do it as soon as possible before the infection spreads. After RCT or root canal treatment the tooth will become weka and may break. So it is necessary to reduce the size of the tooth and place a cap on top of it. So the shape of the tooth will have to be altered , but you can use a cap which resembles the natural tooth as much as possible. The only other option will be removing the tooth completely. So at least you can save some of the natural tooth structure by doing an RCT.

I am 24 years old. Want to ask how much time will braces take for overcrowded teeth.

I am 24 years old. Want to ask how much time will braces take for overcrowded teeth.
We need more investigations (model study, full mouth & profile x-ray) & clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need fixed / removable braces. Requirements may depends on the age, complaint, duration of the treatment & affordability. Cost of cosmetic dentistry (braces) varies with dentist. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

Jaw pain: jaw pain can be due to various reasons and mostly the main suspected reason is stressful life style. Which might lead to constant grinding of the teeth maybe in the night or during the day, leading to tenderness of the muscles supporting your jaw. In many instances it could be due to wisdom teeth newly erupting into your mouth or wisdom teeth erupting into your mouth in a wrong position or the wisdom teeth unable to erupt at all. All these leads to pain in the muscles around the mouth and can also lead to swelling and inability to open the mouth completely. In any case, you need to visit your dentist to actually find out the cause for the pain and appropriate treatment. I hope I answered your query.

Sir my friend has mouth ulcers for over 2 days can you please tell me what should I do?

Sir my friend has mouth ulcers for over 2 days can you please tell me what should I do?
Try to find out what is causing the ulcers. Is this happening again and again? is this related to your monthly periods? are you always biting your cheek or lip? did you bite your tongue accidently? do you have sharp, pointed teeth near the ulcers? are you under some stress? for relief of pain, just apply plain glycerin liquid three times a day and let it remain n contact with the ulcer by closing your mouth, not swallowing for at least 30 seconds after applying it.

Although excessive saliva is not too common, there are a number of conditions that can cause it - some harmless, others more serious. It is possible that your saliva problems are just a result of the way you speak. Some people speak faster or slower than others, just as some people blink more often, breathe faster, or have a more rapid heartbeat. This may just be what's normal for you. Since it is negatively affecting your life, I suggest your problem can be ignored. However there are medical conditions that causes excessive salivation injection glycopyrrolate reduces secretions in the mouth, throat, airway, and stomach.

Please explain your symptoms little more clear. Have you patches inside your mouth or skin? If it is inside mouth you need to go for thorough investigation to rule out the cause. It may be lukoplakia. Keep your mouth clean. Avoid tobacco products, alcohol and smoking if you take these.
