Hi doctor, I am 23 year old girl. I didn't got my periods this month that is I am 5 days late from the actual date of periods. I had sexual intercourse in September last which was although a protected one but it also happened without protection but sperm didn't come out there was only some light weight water but then I got my periods timely in October. I am quite worried and confused for can there be a chance of pregnancy or this delay is due to any other reason. Kindly help me out from coming out of this confusion. Please suggest the best possible measures.

Dear user. FERTILE PHASE is the phase of a female's menstrual cycle when an egg (ovule) is released from the ovaries. In humans, ovulation occurs about midway through the menstrual cycle, after the follicular phase. The few days surrounding ovulation (from approximately days 10 to 18 of a 28 day cycle), constitute the most fertile phase. So if you have ejaculatory sexual inter course from day 10 from the first day of period and to day 20, the chances of pregnancy are much more. There are many determinants of pregnancy. You should be sexually matured. Your partner should be sexually matured. The period of your partner should be in the fertile stage. Female egg and male sperm cells should be healthy enough. Then female uterus should be capable to get conceived. If all these are satisfied, the pregnancy could be a result. Take care.

it's also called beta human choriogonadotrophin hormone which is positive only when the woman is pregnant some women do get miscarriages due to lack of this hormone produced by placenta. your doctor is playing safe so that you don't get any mishap this hormone replacement is also given while treating a woman who is infertile this placenta hormone can be positive I'm certain ovarian tumors also and these tumors are deadly this hormone helps doctors to monitor tubal pregnancy which is being treated with medicines and not by surgery. decreasing levels of the hormone indicate a dead fetus which will be expelled through tubes without cutting open and spoiling the chances of getting pregnant again due to surgery and adhesions you can take injections safely as advised by doctors

What are the things which a girl should keep in mind when she have sex for the first time? What is the safe time to have sex to avoid pregnancy without using any barrier?

MBBS
General Physician, Faridabad
There is no safe period for pergnancy, you have to take chance. You should keep in mind about hiv. If your cycles is regular, say your menses start on 1st and ends on 5th, then safe period is 5-10 and 21-to start of menses is considered to be safe. But pregnancy can happen any time. It will help you. Thanks.

Hello if your pregnancy test was positive and the bleeding started after that, you can go for a pelvic sonogram. If this is normal, you can assume that the pregnancy test was false positive. Otherwise get your investigations done to rule out hormonal imbalance.

IVF - How To Prepare For It?

MS - Obstetrics and Gynaecology, MBBS

IVF - How To Prepare For It?

Infertility is known to usher a lot of emotional stress in the lives of those who go through it. Often, an overwhelming sense of grief descends upon the couple who try to grapple with the sense of loss. The social and psychological ambience plays a very important role in reconciling one with the harsh reality and prepping one up for a fresh start.

While IVF has proven to be a boon in the lives of many couples, many still take to IVF as the last resort. Another factor that makes the responses about IVF rather ambiguous is the uncertainty of the results. There are numerous factors like failure in embryo attachment or uterine incompatibility that often results in a failed IVF. Therefore, before opting for this surgery, one must be mindful of the consequences.

Some of the ways, one can prepare for IVF have been enlisted below:

  1. Informed choice: Considering IVF is a rather stressful surgery, one needs to be well aware of the stakes. Reading up about the potential risks and the details about the process, helps one to be prepared for the consequences and deal better with the trauma.
  2. Take good care of your intimate relationships: Since IVF tends to take a toll on not just the mother, but also the close family, it is important to maintain a strong bond of trust and compassion in the course of the surgery. Hostility and discordance adds on the stress and sometimes inflict grave health implications upon the mother. It is important to support your partner through the entire journey. You may consider professional counselling too.
  3. Prepare yourself for all possible situations: While the advanced technology aims to minimize any hazard, the results can often be unpredictable. You might want to adequately monitor your cycle in order to anticipate the potential problem areas and the results thereof. You should discuss these with your loved ones to avert excessive stress. It is a good idea to keep oneself productively busy in the due course to avoid anxiety. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a gynaecologist.

it might be the breast milk amount is less or the nipples retracted / not well formed. Consult and show your obstetrician. Take lactohil pwder twice daily with milk. Retracted nipples can be massaged and pulled out with vitamin E oil gradually
