Erectile dysfunction is a condition in which a male experience difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection for some desired time. It's also applicable to females when experiencing difficulty achieving or maintaining lubrication. This problem is not desirable as an inability to achieve or maintain an erection during sex makes sexual intercourse undesirable or totally impossible. Many people with ed often have a strong desire for sex with frequent urges and fantasies.
It's unusual for a man to be completely unable to attain an erection. In some cases, a man may experience complete erection during masturbation and partial erectile during sexual intercourse, but with insufficient firmness to allow penetration. The prevalence of ed is surprisingly high with age. The male erectile disorder is the most common sexual dysfunction in which men seek medical intervention while most females do not consider an absence of female arousal disorder as a problem.
Causes of Erectile Dysfunction
A number of physical and medical conditions contribute to erectile dysfunction. Many individuals and even medical personnel are unaware of the connection between these physical and medical conditions with ed. There are three main erectile dysfunction causes these are biological, psychological, and social and cultural contribution. We shall examine them one after the order.
Biological contributions: these are conditions which have a close relationship with the proper functioning of our body system. Neurological disease, urological diseases, endocrine problems and other conditions such as diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, thyroid disease, Peyronie's disease, arthritis, hypothyroidism, etc that affect the functioning of the central nervous system may directly reduce the sensitivity of the genital area, and thereby cause an erectile dysfunction. Vascular disease such as arterial insufficiency and venous breakage may cause erectile dysfunction by limiting the amount of blood that reaches the penis.
Psychological contribution: these are conditions associated with psychological problems such as anxiety, relationship problems, sexual attitude and upbringing, depression, financial and employment problem, psychiatric disorder, etc. researchers have shown that all the above psychological problems are directly connected with ed.
Social and cultural contributions: These deal with some sexual attitude learned early in childhood from families, religious, authorities, or other social gardens. Some negative experiences during childhood can cause erectile dysfunction. For example, in male victims of adult-child contact, the probability of having ed is about 3 times greater than if they have not previously had the contact. Likewise, men who admitted sexually assaulting women are 3 times as likely to complain of erectile dysfunction.
Symptoms of ED
The main symptom of erectile dysfunction is the inability to achieve and maintain a complete penile erection. There's also a special case of partial erection which is often considered as one of the symptoms of ed. Many individuals who complain of erectile dysfunction usually have urges and fantasies for sex.
Remedies for ED
Although ed cannot be cured completely, treatment is done based on the cause of the dysfunction. In recent year, a number of pharmacological and surgical techniques have been developed to treat erectile dysfunction. Some of which are oral medications, injection of a vasoactive substance directly into the penis, surgery, and vacuum device therapy. It's advisable to combine psychological therapies with medical treatment for maximum benefit.
There are three main treatments for ed. They are as follow:
- Non-invasion treatment- tablet medicines such as Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra. These tablet medicines are known to act as an inhibitor of phosphodiesterase-5.
- Treatments involving injection- penile injection such as Caverject. Many people consider using penile injection when
- Surgery- vascular surgery, penile prosthesis, and treatment of Peyronie's disease
Ayurveda Treatment for ED
In Ayurveda erectile dysfunction treatment, there is a treatment for complete or partial erectile dysfunction known as Vajikarana. The herbal ayurvedic treatment is effective for ed in that it increases the strength of man during sexual intercourse. It's usually administered for an individual in the age bracket of 18- 70 years. While undergoing Ayurveda treatment, it recommended that there should be a gap of about 4 days between two consecutive intercourses.

7 Diabetes Related Skin Problems
Diabetes is a metabolic disorder, chiefly caused by insulin fluctuation in the body. A study shows that, 1 out of 3 people suffering from diabetes are likely to develop a skin condition sooner or later; and in some cases, these skin problems serve as symptoms of diabetes. Although these skin problems can be cured easily if treated early, proper care must be administered at all times. Here are 7 skin conditions that affect diabetics:
1. Bacterial infection
Although anyone can get a bacterial infection, people suffering from diabetes are likelier to contract them. Usual bacterial skin problems that tend to trouble diabetics are boils, lumps near the eyelids, nail infections and carbuncles. Diabetics are also prone to infections deep in the skin and of the underlying tissues. The affected area is usually warm, red and swollen.
2. Fungal infections
People who have diabetes have an increased risk of contracting the fungal infection, especially the one known as candida Albicans. The fungus tends to create a red, itchy rash, which is surrounded by blisters and scales. These are usually found in warm places of the body like the armpits, or between the fingers of the hand or perhaps even the toes. Common fungal infections in diabetic people include athlete's foot, jock itch and ringworm.
3. Tingling and itching
Among the many causes of itching, diabetes is one. Yeast infection, dry skin and poor circulation are the primary causes of itching among patients of diabetes. Usually, the lower part of the leg tends to itch the most, if poor circulation is to be blamed.
4. Skin problems related to neuropathy
Diabetes can be the cause of nerve damage in some cases; and neuropathy is a common symptom of diabetes. This type of damage can cause a loss of sensation in a part of the body. On event of an injury, one may not be able to feel it. As a result, an open sore or wound, if left unattended, can develop into an infection.
5. Digital sclerosis
Digital sclerosis, a condition marked by tight, waxy, thick skin that develops on the back of the hand, is common among people who have type 1 diabetes. In this condition, the joints of the fingers get stiff and, thus, lose their mobility and elasticity. Skin of the toes, forehead and knees may also get affected.
Xerosis is another common skin condition that accompanies diabetes. In this condition, the skin becomes very dry and itchy.
7) Acanthosis nigricans
Acanthosis nigricans is the condition where diabetics get darkening of skin leading to skin tags around neck and armpits.
