1. Avoid protein rich diets like mutton, egg, fish, sea food (sardines)/prawn 2.Avoid pulses, lentill, mushrooms, green leafy vegetablles like broccoli, cauli flower, cabbage, spinach, beans, peas 3. Take fruits like apple, banana, orange, black cherry, lime etc 4. Drink plenty of water (8-10 glass) daily 5. Avoid alcohol and caffeinated drinks, excess sweets cakes/cookies 6.Reduce weight if overweight 7. Take medicine after consulting physician.

I am 30 year's old and I weigh 70 kgs, I have pain in my lower back last 3 months and I from last 10 days I have pain behind my thighs I had gone to ortho he told me to do a x-ray and said there is nothing wrong its a vitamin d deficiency, I am not getting relief yet, and I also lift heavy in the gym, can I continue going to gym and please help me with the back pain?

I had lot of pain in my neck for so many years. I got my Vitamin D checked and it showed only 3.2 against minimum level of 20 ng/ml. So please advise me what precautions should I take?

1. Your vitamin d level is very low. Follow the advice given below 2. Take milk, cheese, egg yolk, fish (salmon/mackerel/ trout/sardines/tuna) cod liver oil, mushroom, cereals, orange juice. They are good source of vitamin d. 3.15-20 minute exposure to sun light in morning 4. You have to take vitamin d supplement after consulting physician.

Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck back knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. For emergency treatment contact your nearest hospital or family doctor. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again. Why not discuss with me in a video conference? Shin Splints - Causes And Symptoms!

Shin splints is a condition, which is characterized by pain in the shin bone, the bone that is present in front of the leg. Shin splints tend to occur quite frequently in runners and dancers as their activities tend to stress the shin bone.

Causes: When excess force is applied to the shinbone, it may result in swelling of the muscles, causing pain and inflammation. It may also occur from stress reactions to fractures in the bone. Cracks tend to develop due to constant application of force in the bones. If the area is not well rested then these cracks will not heal and ultimately lead to a complete fracture.

Some other causes of shin splints are:

  1. Muscle imbalance in the glutes or the thighs
  2. Anatomical deformity such as flat foot
  3. Not using proper form during training
  4. Lack of flexibility
  5. If you wear improper shoes during workouts, then it may lead to shin problems
  6. Running downhill may lead to excessive stress on the shin leading to shin splints

Symptoms:
The symptoms of shin splints are: 

  1. You may experience swelling in the lower leg
  2. A dull pain in the front portion of the leg
  3. Tenderness around the shin area
  4. Numbness around the shin area
  5. Inflammation in the shin area
  6. You may experience severe pain while walking

Treatment: The basic treatment for shin splints is the RICE (rest, ice, compression and elevation) protocol. It means allowing the leg to rest, applying ice packs and wearing compression bandages. It is recommended to take rest and not exert the leg beyond a certain point to limit the damage. The complications that may result from shin splints are compartment syndrome, where there is buildup of pressure in the muscle. In some cases, where the muscle tears off from the bone, a surgery may be required to treat this condition. If you wish to discuss any specific problem, you can consult an orthopedist.

Bhujang Asana – Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily.

Hello there are many reasons of pain you should go through proper investigation. Physiotherapy is the best treatment for all these conditions. There are many reasons for this type of pain- 1. Overuse of muscles, 2. Deficiency of vitamin d3 or calcium, or lack of water in the body, 3. Postural stress, 4. Muscle strain, etc. Please send me all investigation reports if available. I'm getting upper knee pain for last 4 months when bend my right leg for long time. I have consulted ortho doctor, and had tablets for 2 weeks, but it's not worked. Again I have consulted another ortho doctor and said that no need treatment do some exercise for leg, it will cure automatically. Still having knee pain. But earlier 4 months before, sometimes pain will get severe now it's not. But having mild pain when bend my right leg long time. I don't have any injury in my leg. I am doing squat regularly. Even I quit squat after getting knee pain, but there is no improvement. Can anyone please cure this?

Dear Lybrate user avoid squats and other strenuous exercises. Don't sit in cross leg position for long time. Don't keep bending knee joint for long time. Avoid heavy exercises and weight bear. Wear knee caps regularly. Massaging with ashwagandhabalalaxadi for about 20mnts will reduce the pain. Take cap flexy 1-1-1 for about 15 days. Dashamularista 20 ml with equal amount warm water 2tms. Practice knee joint strengthening yogasanas in gentle way.

On 01/04/2014 I had faced an accident which lead me right leg calcaneal fracture, total five nos of hairline type fracture. After 1.5 months of plaster & another 1 month of bed rest I started my normal life. But still now facing problem with pain, sometimes it becomes unbearable. Hot water compression giving too much relief but after few hours it is again as it is. Is there any other kind of home remedy available?

Calcaneum is weight bearing joint so any injury of this joint take long time to recover Are you taking calcium supplement? and after treatment X ray was done? 1. You can apply volini gel 1% local application twice a day for 3-5 days 2. You can do massage with olive/ castor oil before sleeping 3. Hot fomentation twice a day for 3 days 4. What I do?
You feel weak, so you should take proper diet you take 5 meals in a day in frequent intervals and don't skip breakfast. Include fruits and vegetables in your diet milk and milk products and give heavy and healthy breakfast like sprouts, dalia, poha, upma, oats. Include protein rich food in your diet.
