Hi the goal of the injection is pain relief; at times the injection alone is sufficient to provide relief, but commonly an epidural steroid injection is used in combination with a comprehensive rehabilitation program to provide additional benefit. It may give pain relief from 1 week to 1 year.

Hello, first of all you should know what is backache and by which factors it caused and aggravated. The usual cause of low back pain is the sedentary lifestyle that we lead these days. There is hardly any movement. We remain seated most of the time and stand for very short periods of time. Unfortunately walking, running and cycling like activities are also not a part of our daily routine. To add to it, our diet consists more and more of junk food. Fresh fruits, vegetables and high fibre foods are consumed less and less. These daily practices lead to obesity. The increased body weight puts lot of pressure on the spine which has to bear all the extra unwanted weight. The back muscles which are already weak due to lack of exercise and wrong posture are unable to cope with this increased load. This causes pain in the back muscles. Management for Back Pain:-Along with medicines for relieving pain, one needs to identify the cause and correct it. This may require some medicines or some correction in your posture or reducing weight or improving your lifestyle. At the same time, there is a need to work on the local muscle strengthening. Back muscles need to be strengthened so that they can bear the weight of the upper body. For this exercises of the back muscles are very helpful. Regular walking is also very helpful as it is a wholesome exercise of the body, improves blood circulation and helps lose weight. Most importantly if you are overweight then losing weight is an important part of the whole treatment plan .Long term use of painkillers for low back pain is harmful Treatment for back pain:- Homeopathic medicines are very helpful. They not only treat the acute stages but are also used for the treatment of chronic back pain.Selection of the exact remedy depends upon the individual symptoms of the person.So share the complete symptom picture for the proper treament. In the mean time take Arnica 200, 3 drops in the morning and Rhus tox. 200, 3 drops at night for 7 days.Take care.

My weight is only 52 kg which are not increase from many years my age is 25 years and 11 month. I want to every time sleeping. Also have lower back pain. My stomach is not clean in the morning. I mean motion is tight. Every doctor say to me my night fall problem shall be solved out after marriage. But at that time, in my body nothing remain. So what will I do at the time of intercourse. If you have any suggestion then told me.

try to take more fiber rich diet because stomach must be clean first.. take healthy diet and use any liver tonic. night fall is not a big issue.. first work on your digestion

Having lower back pain and there is a mild pain in my butt groin limb and testicle.
Apply hot fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang asana -- lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily.

Hi please thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am dr akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Please usually sounds from knee can come from uneven bony surfaces due to cartilage degeneration, tight ligaments inside a joint etc. Please if it is not associated with any pain or swelling in associated joint, then it is no cause for concern. Sleep on a hard bed no sagging or folding bed with a thick matress over it and do spinal extension exercises, pirex gel locally.

follow these instructions to get relief from cervical spondylosis. * First correct your sitting posture. Do not use laptops or mobile for more than 1-2 hours if yo have to work on computer then the screen of computer should be in the same level to your eyes. * You can use cervical collar for support during work. * Do regular neck muscle strength exercises.Move your neck clockwise and anticlock wise for 2-3 minutes daily. * Do not sleep on very soft bed ,sleep on slight hard cotton mattress with very low pillow level. * Do Tadasana and Bhjangasana for back strengthening.If you can not understand these asans you can consult me. * Take calcium rich diet and calcium and vitamin D supplements regularly. *Do not Take any heavy weight or heavy work. * If you are over weight then follow a good and effective diet plan to loose some kilos of weight. You can consult me to get a diet chart.

Take high protein diet and do stretching of whole body after workout. It is common for every one during workout may body painful no need of any type painclear. Protein is for soft tissue recovery. Thanks.

Kindly show me a photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Hello Mr. lybrate-user, you have to feel the exact location of heel pain, is it in whole heel, or side of the heel or in middle of heel. As you discussed that you started morning walk, check your shoes if you are wearing shoes, before start walk do proper stretching for fore foot, and suggest Contrast bath you can carry on. If still your pain is not relieving you can consult any specialist.

First alwyas do warm up before running in order to prevent the muscular injuries use knee cap while walking and running, do some knee mobility exercise before walking, jogging or running apply ice pack over the affected knee after running.

Most leg pain results from wear and tear, overuse, or injuries in joints or bones or in muscles, ligaments, tendons or other soft tissues. Leg pain can also be caused by blood clots, varicose veins or poor circulation. To relieve mild pain: stay off your leg as much as possible apply an ice pack or bag of frozen peas to the affected area for 15 to 20 minutes three times a day elevate your leg whenever you sit or lie down please go to a physiotherapist if: you have pain during or after walking you have swelling in both legs your pain gets worse your symptoms don't improve after a few days of home treatment you have painful varicose veins leg pain happens when your muscles are tired or dehydrated. Drink more water if you're prone to leg cramps. Also low blood levels of either calcium or magnesium directly cause cramps. Pleas check you calcium and magnesium levels.

* neck pain occurs due to wrong posture or due to strain on your neck muscle. Check your posture, do not bend your neck excessively and when you work on your laptop or computer after half hour of working move your neck slowly in clockwise and anticlockwise direction. * do neck massage with lukewarm mustard oil. * do not take pillow of high hight during sleeping or avoid to take pillow. * in diet vegetable protein of cereal, b complex supplements and half teaspoon of haldi in a cup of milk for seven days will give you enough relief.

Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Use no pillow under the head. Kindly take biod3 max 1 tab dailyx10 paracetamol 250mg od & sos x5days do back (spine)/shoulder/knee exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do not ignore it. It may have to be further investigated. It could be beginning of a serious problem. If no relief in 4_5 days, then inform me Contact your family doctor or nearest hospital for emergency help.

I am 30 Year old women having spine (disc) issue. According to my MRI report “Posterior and left paracentral disc extrusion at L5-S1 level superior migration causing compression on left existing nerve”. Due to this the toes of my left foot has lost power restricting dorsiflexion. There is no back pain and I am able to move and walk freely without any issue. The numbness and sensation have shown recovery after 15 days of physiotherapy. My doctor has advised for surgery but I am reluctant to go for it. My two questions are 1) Whether it is possible to get recovery without surgery? If yes what precautions should be taken? 2) I fear further damage due to this nerve compression. Whether there are chances of further damage due to this if I don’t go for surgery?

Hello madam, The symptoms described by you and the MRI report corelate. It means that you have significant disc problem. It is considered as a strong indicator of surgery if you have weakness of muscle. Generally for disc related problems conservative treatment by medication and physiotherapy will work, but when muscle weakness is present, then there is high risk of progression and chances of recovery of muscle power cannot be predicted. If you recover from this problem without surgery it will be great, but have to be lucky. But if it gets worse then you may have to be only sorry. Unfortunately no test or no Surgeon can predict if someone in your position will recover or not. Ifeel the doctor who has seen you in person has more information about you than me, so my advice would be to get your self treated as per his decision. Good morning Sir I have a ligament tear on my right hand shoulder I took MRI scan. I have consulted a doctor he told that it is a partial tear and he advised me to take rest for 3 months and he gave some medicines but after 2 months I started playing badminton it is paining now. Hot Fomentation. Gentle Shoulder Stretching. Core Strengthening Exercises. Gentle Neck Exercises. Avoid sleeping on affected side.. Warm up and cool down is a must. Hot fomentation.
