Hi take ginger tea mixed with 2-3 crushed garlic cloves. Massaging the chest with warm sesame oil mixed with salt helps to loosen the phlegm deposited in the chest, especially, when followed with steam inhalation. Take shwas kuthar ras twice a day. Pranacharya asthamin capsule 1-1 twice a day. And pranacharya shwas vikarasav 2-2 tsf twice a day. 1-1 drop of cow ghee in both nostrils at night time before sleep. Take hot water steam.

I have asthma since 5 years. I took several treatments but it is not cured. Please tell me is it cured permanently. Then please tell me suggestions and treatments to cure it permanently. Please tell me.

DNB(Respiratory Diseases), MBBS
Pulmonologist, Jabalpur
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of lungs. In most of the cases asthma can be only controlled and not cured, like many other chronic diseases such as high bp and diabetes. The target of treatment therefore should be good control.

For running purpose your nose should be patent to raise vital capacity if a person suffering from nasal obstruction with mild to moderate nasal allergies it means most probably he is suffering from dns (deviated nasal septum. Nasal obstruction is because of the deviated portion of the nasal septum (this is the bony partition of the nose cavity. Allergies are because of the hampered muco-ciliary mechanism (normally mucus is produced in the nose to moisten our nose cavity, oral cavity, and help food bolus to move downward, this mucus is basically moves on the cilia of the nasal mucosa) this mechanism gets hampered and mucus start accumulating in the nose and sinus cavity which is why thick mucus comes from nose in patients of nose obstruction and person develops sinusiits. When a surgeon removes the nasal septum deviation has not been removed properly the symptoms persists, and patient thinks that the nose bone has again regrown. It is not because of regrowth but because of half surgery done or due to the non removal of the deviation (reason can be many) nowadays nasal septal deviation can be removed endoscopically.

Hi I am 26 years old, I am suffering from cough from last nine and half month as I already asked about my problem And doctor. Told it may asthama. If once I get asthama will it be continue life long or I ll get relief in few month.

MD PULMONARY
Pulmonologist, Mumbai
First get a pft test to see how severe it is and then start right treatment from a chest physician. Its an allergic problem, there's nothing like life long treatment. We need to control your asthma so that you don't suffer.

Ulcerative colitis is usually only in the innermost lining of the large intestine (colon) and rectum. Forms range from mild to severe. Having ulcerative colitis puts a patient at increased risk of developing colon cancer. Symptoms include rectal bleeding, bloody diarrhoea, abdominal cramps and pain. Homoeo medicines can cure such condition.

Hello sir. I have the cough problem from last few week. But different thing is that sometime cough is having small black black dots. Thats why I am too much problem. I am sometime smoking.

MBBS, MD - Consultant Physician
General Physician, Ghaziabad
Hello welcome to lybrate. We are here to help you. You seem to be suffering allergic cough due to smoking, also known as smoker's cough. I would advise in such scenario to get: 1. Hemogram with esr 2. Ecg 3. Chest xray if the chest xray and these blood investigations show no sign of infection then, you would be treated for allergic cough. Initially you would be treated with a combination of levocetrizine and montelukast. But your doctor will examine your chest for any wheezes/spasm. In such scenario, your doctor would prescribe you inhalers containing bronchi dilators like salbutamol. You might also require short dose of steroid inhaler like budenoside. Share my opinion with your doctor before acting upon it. I hope it helps. Stay healthy.

MBBS
General Physician, Mumbai
I will suggest you to buy a steam inhaler machine of crescent company and take a flow of steam (of plain water only) over the forehead through the inhaler and can repeat the process after eight hours as and when required and whenever there is mucous discharge from the nostrils I will suggest you to take one tablet of cetrizine at night.

What medications are best for the treatment of asthma? what are their side effects?

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda, Faridabad
Herbal medicines are best to treat without any side effect. Take 11 guava leaves, 11 black pepper, 1 cup milk and one cup water. Put all of them in pot and boil it well, when it reduced to one cup, drink in empty stomach. Take this daily for at least six months or a year. 2.Boil cumin seeds in water and inhale the steam. It helps dilate the bronchial passage. 3.Take 5 gm of ginger, black pepper, cardamom, clove, cinnamon, turmeric and 30 gm of sugar. Grind the mix to a powder. Take half to one teaspoonful and mix it nicely with honey. Take it twice a day 4.Pulses like old rice (rice which is stored for at least one year is called old), wheat, barley, kulattha, mung beans, arhar beans, etc . should be consumed. 5.Honey, warm drinks like herbal teas, spice teas are also okay. 6.Sprouts, nuts and seeds can be taken in moderate amount. 7.The heavy foods and those which make ama should be avoided. This mainly includes milk products like cheese, curd, butter milk, creams, and banana, etc. 8.Oily, greasy and fried foods which are difficult to digest should be avoided. 9.White flour and white sugar products should be avoided. 10.In addition, try to avoid the cold foods, cold drinks and other refrigerated things. 11.Avoid excessive or physically demanding exercise. Yoga and Pranayama can be helpful.
