Hi I am suffering from inflammation in rectal area only inflammation occurs when I pass the stool. This inflammation usually occurs when I drink alcohol. Can somebody suggest what it is?

Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS)
General Surgeon, Chennai
The inflammation that you feel may be haemorrhoids when you drink alcohol, the body looses lot of water, making you dehydrated, dehydration will make the stool hard resulting in more prominent haemorrhoids. I suggest when ever you are consuming alcohol, before and after drink lot of water. It will prevent the problem.

Your problem is probably a anal fistula. Fistula in ano is a chronic problem most commonly develops after improperly drained anal abscess. Once formed it needs to be excised by surgery. Before surgery fistula track has to be identified and classified as a long or short. You need to see an expert coloproctologist because for complicated and long fistula not many surgeons can operate properly.

For painful piles and fissure avoid constipation by drinking plenty of water, decrease meat intake and dal, have good green leafy vegetables. That should prevent recurrence of the problem but risk will always be there. Regarding infection examination would be required.

I'm struggling quite a lot with my anxiety and low mood. Hi, emotional eating is a bad condition to be into because it can be done blindly, which is called" invisible eating. Invisible eating means eating emotionally when you are happy, sad, or angry without realizing it. Basically, if you take a cookie out of the cookie jar every time you feel emotion, you are emotionally eating. Here are some ways to take control of your emotional eating and stop it. Allow yourself to feel the emotion you've been trying to stuff down with food. Choose not to eat emotionally 5 minutes at a time. During the process of feeling these previously avoided feelings, use self-talk such as" I allow myself to experience a full range of emotions" or" feeling my feelings helps me to live a fuller life. Sometimes the feelings you're running from can be resolved in a fairly short period of time and you can free yourself from the pattern for good simply by refusing to run from it. Whether you eat out of anger, sadness or happiness, don't judge yourself for it. All you need to do is notice at first what you have done and why. You can say to yourself" hmmm, isn't it interesting that I ate because of.(a fight, stress etc), maybe next time I will catch myself before I eat over that same issue and do something else (something healthier) instead. Sometimes telling someone - anyone - about your habit can take away some of the power of the food. It seems like less of a big deal once you've said it out loud. Get active and join a gym to compensate for the amount of food you are eating and to get back in shape,

Try doing kapal bhathi. There is a special way of doing it for prostrate patients. Lie down on the floor or bed. Do kapal bhathi in such a way that the strokes are felt on the point where the penis joins the main trunk of the body. This gives a mild internal massage to prostrate. Hence the general health of the prostrate improves. In any case surgery is also not a bad option and should not be ruled out.
