How can I improve my eyesight. As I am daily using computer for at least 6 hours, my eyes has pain also.

FICO, DNB Ophtalmology

How can I improve my eyesight. As I am daily using computer for at least 6 hours, my eyes has pain also.
Hi. Let me enumerate the diet necessary for healthy eyes. (1) green leafy vegetables including spinach, sprouts, cabbage, beetroot. (2) fruits-blue-berries, black-berries, strawberries, raspberries, kiwi fruit, grapes, pineapple, pomegranate, grapes, guava. (3) dry-fruits: almonds, walnuts, apricots, dates. (4) cereals: oats, barley, millets. (5) drink a cup of green tea daily. (6) drink a glass of milk daily. I have a few suggestions for you regarding the usage of computers, mobile phones and books. Follow the rule of" 20" this means that every 20 minutes, take a gap of 20 seconds, blink your eyes actively 20 times and focus at an object which is minimum 20 feet away. This will help in relieving your eyes from the continuous strain that is caused due to staring. Staring at the computer continuously causes us to subconsciously blink less than normal. This causes the tear film on the surface of the eye to dry up. The result of this is pain, discomfort, etc. Another suggestions regarding the usage of computers is to maintain a proper posture. The computer must be positioned at the same height as your eye level. The neck should not be inadvertently flexed or extended. Roughly, an angle of 90 degrees should be maintained between your upper body and thighs. Likewise, a similar angle (90 degrees) should be maintained between your lower legs and thighs. Also the angle between your hands and arms should be roughly 90 degrees. This is the healthy ergonomic way of sitting while using a computer. Maintenance of proper posture would help in further relieving the symptoms of eye discomfort and pain. All these suggestions may take a while to sink in and imbibe in your routine. Once followed, they are sure to work wonders for you. Hope my suggestions help you. Take care. Cheers.

Hello. There is no medication or food for improving eye sight or to get rid of glasses. Get your vision tested and wear glasses. If not interested in glasses then you can try a. Contact lens b. Lasik laser as your age is now 22 years so your number will not increase much now whether you wear glasses or not as number becomes stable at age of 18-20 yrs. Having said that I advise you to eat balanced diet including green vegetables and seasonal fruits for keeping eyes and body healthy. Lasik is a very easy and painless procedure. If you want to get rid of glasses then go for lasik.

Hello, you can take amla juice with honey. This is good for eyes. You can also take triphala powder. You can also boil 2 spoons of triphala powder in a glass of water until it reduces to 1/4 of glass. Later, when it is lukewarm, filter the thick mixture, add a spoon of honey and drink this concoction everyday to strengthen your eye sight.

Most probably,Your eyes are red due to extensive continuous usage of computer. The solution for this problem is its reduced usage and while using computor use in proper light. There is nothing more effective than controlling usage to reduce and negate the effects. You can also reduce the intensity of the computor screen by attaching a filter or by getting an eye-friendly screen. Above all, one must try to reduce the amount of computor usage or take frequent breaks. Homoeopathic medicine CINELUBE EYE DROPS ( HAPDCO) Pour 2 drops 3 times daily.

This condition is called Eye strain, or asthenopia, in which the eyes get tired from excessive or intense use. It can be annoying, but it tends to disappear with rest. Although it’s not often a serious condition, eye strain could be a symptom of an underlying problem. Eye strain is known to cause fatigue, difficulty concentrating, and headaches Eye strain may lead to other problems, such as: •Headaches •Difficulty Concentrating •Irritability •Burning Sensation •Watery Eyes •Dry Eyes •Photophobia •Eye Pain If you work on a computer, taking eye breaks for five minutes every hour can lessen the strain on your eyes. Simply closing your eyes for a few moments can also do wonders. Try standing up, moving around, or taking a short walk to help regain concentration. Regular eye exercises that involve focusing on different distances can help prevent future straining. Blink often. Blinking refreshes and replenishes your eyes naturally. If you are having trouble with blinking due to the dryness of your eyes, try using Homoeopathic CINELUBE EYEDROPS (HAPDCO) 3 times daily.

Crossed Eyes - How Can It Be Treated

Cornea Cataract & Lasik
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
Crossed Eyes - How Can It Be Treated

Vision is one of our most important senses. Reduced vision that triggers the need for corrective glasses is one of the most common disorders associated with the eyes. Crossed eyes are another such common disorder that affects the eyes. In medical terms it is also known as Strabismus. This condition is a result of miscommunication between the brain and the eye muscles that result in misalignment of the eyes. It is largely a hereditary condition and should not be confused with a lazy eye syndrome.

Crossed eyes can cause double vision and disorientation. Your depth perception may also be affected. It also causes eye strains and headaches that affect the quality of your life. This condition is seen mostly in children. If not treated in time, it can continue into the adult years as well. The development of crossed eyes in adults who have not suffered from this condition as children is usually a sign of a serious condition such as a stroke.

Some symptoms characteristic of this condition are:

  1. Independent movement of eye balls
  2. Tilting the head to a side
  3. Squinting
  4. Varied points of reflection in each eye
  5. Frequently bumping into things as a result of impaired depth perception.

Treatment for this condition can be surgical as well as non surgical. Non surgical treatment aims at strengthening the eye muscles and treating the visual system as a whole. The aim is to not allow the eye to become lazy or amblyopic. Wearing an eye patch over the strong eye and forcing the weak eye to be used is one of the most common form of this treatment. Corrective glasses can also be used to treat this condition in cases where it has been triggered by excessive farsightedness. In some cases, medication may also be injected into the eye to relax the eye muscles.

Surgery to correct this disorder involves correcting vision by strengthening or weakening the eye muscles. To do this, a surgeon must first make a small incision in the outer layer of the eyeball to reach the affected muscles. To strengthen the muscle a small section is removed from the muscle and the remaining part is then rejoined. This makes the muscle shorter and forces the eye to turn towards that side. Alternatively, the doctor may make a partial cut across the muscle to elongate it and let the eye turn further away from it.

Sir This is my eyes problem I seen double vision every time and also tear fell every tome please solve my eyes problem.
Hello lybrate-user. Sorry about your eye trouble. Doubling of vision has multiple causes associated with it. Let me enumerate them in brief: (1) refractive error-inadequate glass correction or a change in refractive error may lead to doubling of vision. (2) squinting of the eyes: misalignment of the visual axes of the eyes may cause objects to appear double. (3) discharge on the cornea due to conjunctivitis also causes doubling. This is one of the commonest reasons. (4) retinal problems: swelling (edema) of the retinal surface may cause objects to appear double. (5) improper functioning of the muscles holding the eye ball in place. The nerves around the eyes may get paralyzed by certain injuries or infections and cause doubling of vision. This may require assessment by an eye specialist and a neurologist together. (6) neurological problems: there are a few other neurological issues that may cause objects to appear double. This would require investigation by a neurosurgeon/ physician. (7) thyroid related problems may also cause doubling of vision and require treatment by a physician along with an eye specialist. Thus, it would be a good idea to get a thorough eye evaluation by a specialist and then come to a conclusion. Let me know if you require further assistance. Hope my suggestions helped you. Take care.

Whenever I use phone for 1/2 hours my eyes pain allot and headache start what was the reason.

Whenever I use phone for 1/2 hours my eyes pain allot and headache start what was the reason.
I think you need to get your eyes tested for any number Here are the instructions for mobile phone use: Here are seven super quick and easy ways to give your eyes a break during your all those smartphone marathon sessions. 1. Blink, blink and blink again. Blinking often (and for more than a second) keeps your eyes moist and reduces dryness and irritation. We tend blink about a third less than we normally would when we stare at our smartphone screens, which starves our poor peepers of protective tears. Keep your eyes wet by blinking about 10 times every 20 minutes or so and you should be good to go. 2. Minimize glare. Unless you have a smartphone equipped with anti-glare Corning Gorilla Glass or use a matte screen protector film, you’re probably coping with a fair amount of annoying reflective glare. 3. Take breaks. Follow 20-20-20 rule. The concept is to take a break from looking at your screen every 20 minutes for 20 seconds while looking at something 20 feet away. Doing so relaxes your eye muscles 4. Adjust your brightness. Having your screen too bright or too dark stresses your eyes out and can cause problems maintaining focus. To eliminate either issue in about a matter of seconds, simply go into your smartphone settings and adjust your screen brightness so it’s about the same as the light level in the environment around you 5. Tweak your text size and contrast. Adjusting your smartphone text contrast and size also provides a little much-needed relief. 6. Keep a clean screen. Routinely wipe down your smartphone screen with a dry (not wet!) cleaning cloth to remove distracting dust, grime, smudges and fingerprints. 7. Hold your smartphone farther away. Try holding yours at least 16 to 18 inches away from your eyes to give your eyes a break.

Hello sir, Please tell me how can thin person gain weight and how can he protect eyes from dust?

PGDD, RD, Bachelor of Home Science
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
Hello sir, Please tell me how can thin person gain weight and how can he protect eyes from dust?
Hye, Thanks for the query. Firstly understand that weight gain is very dependent on genetics and metabolism along with your daily diet and exercise routine. It is important to know that just eating just two heavy meals a day will not help. Weight gain is all about taking more calories than you burn. Eating the right foods at the right time is very important. There is no one food that helps weight gain. Eat meals at frequent intervals. You need to eat at least 6 main and mid meals a day. Eat a mid meal between each main meal. Avoid junk foods. Include dairy, eggs, nuts, fruits, dry fruits, starchy vegetables, rice, bread, whole grain cereals, smoothies, masala milk, ghee, cream in your meals. Just eating sugary, sweet foods is not good. Try to have healthy deserts like kheer, chikki or lassi. Avoid alcohol and smoking. Exercise at least thrice a week. It helps development of muscle mass and improves appetite. Even if you were to take just medicines or supplements they will not work in isolation. You need to have a calorie and nutrient dense meal and good exercise routine, it's crucial. Wear glares to protect eyes from dust.

I have dry eye problem especially when sitting in front of computers in my job. Trying my best to take breaks between work and using eye drops. Is there anything else I can do, any food I should eat more or any medicine. Please advice as I am just 32 with entire Job life ahead.

MBBS, DOMS
Ophthalmologist, Hyderabad
You can try superior quality lubricant eye drops during day time and lubricant gel drops or ointment at bedtime. Omega 3 fatty acids taken orally are said to benefit some people by improving the corneal health. Moist chamber goggles could help as well. Temporary or permanent punctal plugs, implanted into lower eye lid puncta are shown to benefit some, by retaining natural tears for longer duration within the eyes. To evaluate if you need these things at all and to know the grade of dry eye condition (usually done by Schirmer strip test), you better get examined by an ophthalmologist.

Get your refraction done and wear spectacles eat green veggies. Carrots, mangoes, papayas, yellow fruits, butter, nuts. Strain less your eyes. Relax your eyes in between work. Blink regularily if working for long time on computer. Lower the brightness of your screen. work under adequatey iluuminated conditions.practice eye muscle strengthening exercises. you can go for contact lenses or lasik surgery only after satisfying few criteria like amount and type of refractive error, stability of refractive error and corneal conditions..till then you must not undergo lasik

Meri aankhe me bhut red Ho jato aur ankhoki putyli pila rang aata hai upay bataye.

Fellowship in Comprehensive Ophthalmology, DOMS

Meri aankhe me bhut red Ho jato aur ankhoki putyli pila rang aata hai upay bataye.
Hello there are many causes for redness of eyes mainly allergy, infection, inflammation and dry eyes etc. 1. Redness + itching: allergy 2. Redness + pain + watering + decreased vision: infection 3. Redness + pain: inflammation 4. Redness foreign body sensation: dryness if there is only redness then it is normal as slight exposure to dust, temperature or air or eyes may be red in morning. Stress may also cause redness. I usually do not treat when there is only redness, you can 1. Blink a lot 2. Wash eyes with fresh water 3. Cold compresses 4. Use lubricating eye drop like flogel these measures will help to keep your eyes healthy but it will not have any effect on redness (treating general redness alone is not necessary also) having said that you should consult local ophthalmologist for proper examination and treatment.
