Dear lybrate-user, consult a urologist or andrologist for this. There are many causes for ED, including nerve damage, poor blood supply, early run-off, hormonal, psychological etc. Proper investigation will help you. Initially oral medications are started. If these don't help, devices like vacuum pump or electrovibrators are used. If these fail, penile injections can be an option. Final method is penile implants. Good luck.

Thanks for the question. Aapne jo blood glucose levels bataye hai, woh bahut hi jyada hai. Isase bahut serious bemariya ho sakati hai. (complications of diabetes). To control that level of blood glucose only Insulin Injection along with oral drugs is the requirement. Only on oral medication it is difficult to control. Plus she has to take a very strict restricted diet. 1) No sweets, no deep fried foods, no red meat. 2) No pastries, and bakery items, no sweetened aerated drinks (colas). Plus no items made of maida. 4) She should consume more of green leafy vegetables and salads and some fruits. (about 100 g a day). Blood glucose should be fasting: 100 mg and PP 160 to 170 mg and HbA1c%<7. If you are really willing to get proper treatment please come in a private conversation with all details like her weight, height, diet pattern HbA1c% and extent of daily exercise, then I will be able to help. Or else consult a local doctor and start Insulin injections along with oral drugs. Thanks.

Physiotherapy with proper McKenzie protocol and Manual therapy for trigger points can surely help. Also changes and awareness or posture along with specialized strengthening of selective muscles can prevent further disc prolapse. If you need customized plan let me know. Ice packs on painful areas 3 times for 15 mins each can help too.

The Best Natural Oils For Your Hair.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is one of the most powerful oils in the world. Not only does coconut have that great “vacation-in-the-Caribbean” smell, it’s also great for your hair.
Coconut oil is high in vitamin E and other nutrients, and your hair can absorb them all. The result will be hair that is thicker, shiner, healthier and has stronger roots. It also contains lauric and capric acid, which have amazing antimicrobial powers – meaning it will make your hair and scalp healthier and prevent dandruff, itchy scalp and infections.

Argan Oil

Argan oil is the most expensive of the hair oils on this list, but ask anyone who uses it and you’ll hear that it’s worth every penny. It contains lots of vitamin E, Omega 3 and 9 fatty acids, and antioxidants, all of which do amazing things for damaged, dry, coarse or otherwise unmanageable hair.

Extra-Virgin Olive Oil

The same oil that you likely use for cooking and salad dressing can be used as a deep moisturizing treatment and to promote hair growth. Massaging your scalp with olive oil will promote scalp health and improve circulation, while fighting off bacteria and leaving you with softer smoother hair.
Olive oil also makes an excellent, all-natural alternative to shaving cream.

Pomegranate Seed Oil

For fine or thinning hair, Pomegranate seed oil can work miracles. It contains high amounts of punicic acid, which revitalizes your hair leaving it looking thick and shiny. It’s also a great protector against chemicals and other environmental damage. Pomegranate seed oil is very thick and somewhat expensive, you can mix it with extra-virgin olive oil to make it last longer and get the benefits of both.

Rosemary Essential Oil

Thinning hair tends to hold in more dirt and toxins; rosemary essential oil is great for cleansing and it also contains loads of vitamin B, iron and calcium. It has been used for thousands of years as a remedy for thinning and brittle hair, plus it has been scientifically proven to prevent premature graying.
Rosemary essential oil should be diluted with a carrier oil (such as extra virgin olive oil) before use.

Avocado Oil

Avocado oil , like avocados themselves, contains proteins, healthy fats, amino acids and vitamins A, D, E and B6. The proteins will help fill in damaged airs in your hair’s cuticles, repairing damage that’s already been done and preventing future breakage and frizz. Avocado oil is strong and thick, so it is most effective when used on medium to thick hair.

Jojoba Oil

Jojoba oil isn’t actually an oil, it’s a liquefied wax that is extracted from a shrub native to the southwestern US. Jojoba oil is high in vitamins A, E and D and is great for all hair types. It can be found in several all-natural shampoos and hair products, but like oils, it’s most effective on its own. Jojoba oil helps damage to your hair and promotes new, healthy hair growth.

Hi, I am a 26 year old woman and a mother to a 3 year old kid. My weight is only 35 kg. please suggest some medicine to gain proper weight. I want to turn 50 at least. Pls.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Hi, I am a 26 year old woman and a mother to a 3 year old kid. My weight is only 35 kg. please suggest some medicine ...
Gaining weight is as difficult as losing it, if you are naturally thin. Skinny people complain that they can't put on any weight. If you want to build up weight, don't just eat high-calorie junk foods and rely on unnecessary supplements. Choose foods that are energy-dense and nutrient-dense whenever possible. Following are some tips to follow to increase your weight. You will take some time to gain the weight you need, but be patient. 1. If you have a rapid metabolism, then you must increase your daily intake of healthy foods (increase your intake of carbohydrates) to compensate for the rate at which you burn energy. Eat six smaller meals a day You should also eat more energy dense foods like healthy oils, dry fruits, seeds, nuts, pulses, etc. along with some starchy foods like potatoes, cereals, bread, pasta, rice, etc. 2. Consume more calories than you burn. Choose healthy calorie-dense food to add calories. Drink healthy beverages to add calories. Mangoes are rich in calories and carbohydrates, include them in your diet. 3. Eat healthy food frequently, 5-6 times a day - 3 larger meals and 3 smaller meals alternately. Separate them by at least 3 hours so you can digest each meal fully. Don't go without food for 5-6 hours after having a major meal. For example, if you wish to consume 3000 calories a day, you may eat 3 larger meals of about 650 calories and 3 smaller meals of about 450 calories. 4. Have a balanced diet. 5. Exercise regularly for putting on weight. Some thin people think that exercise is not good for them. This is not true, it keeps the metabolism high. Remember that eating alone is not sufficient. You don't want to gain fat but lean mass, so exercise is important. Resistance training exercises will help to increase your muscle mass, which in turn will increase metabolism. Learn to distinguish between weight gaining exercises and weight loss exercises. Note that if you do not get enough amino acids during exercise, the existing muscle may break down. Amino acids come from protein foods so you should eat such foods after exercise. Keep in mind that excessive exercise without putting back the energy you have used will not help you to put on weight.

Common Prostate Problems Faced By Men!

MBBS, MS - General Surgery, DNB - Urology/Genito - Urinary Surgery
Urologist, Bangalore
Common Prostate Problems Faced By Men!

What menstrual problems are to women, prostate problems are to men. The prostate is a gland in the lower abdomen that aids in the production of semen. The prostate is walnut sized in a young man, but can get enlarged with age. As it grows bigger, it can cause a number of problems. These are commonly seen after a man celebrates his 50th birthday.

There are three common prostate problems faced by men. Some of the symptoms that can tell if a man has a prostate problem are:

1. Difficulty faced while urinating.
2. The urge to urinate frequently at night.
3. Constant feeling of a full bladder.
4. Pain while urinating.
5. Blood in urine.

Prostatitis

This can be defined as inflammation of the prostate gland. In most cases the cause of this inflammation is unknown. However, there are two types of prostatitis; bacterial and nonbacterial. While the former reacts well to antibiotics, the latter is more difficult to control. Symptoms of this disease vary from one person to the next. Some of the factors that could trigger this disease are:

1. Chemical irritants
2. Past bacterial infection
3. Dysfunctional pelvic floor muscles
4. Sexual abuse
5. Chronic anxiety

Enlarged prostate

As mentioned earlier, as men get older, the prostate gland tends to grow in size. This growth is benign, but can block the bladder neck and prostatic urethra. This can cause problems urinating and lead to acute urinary retention. This can be very painful. Inserting a catheter can provide temporary relief and help release stored urine. Chronic retention is much less common and is associated with high bladder pressure and can damage the kidneys.

Prostate cancer

Advancing age and family genetic history are said to be the main triggers of prostate cancer. This type of cancer can remain restricted to the prostate gland in its early stages but may spread to the other glands as the cancer advances. This can also cause the growth of secondary tumors in the bones.

The only way to correctly diagnose a prostate problem is with a thorough physical examination. This includes a digital rectal exam where the doctor will insert a gloved finger into your rectum to check the size of your prostate, a blood test, mid stream urine tests and ultrasounds. In some cases a biopsy of the prostate may also be required. Depending on the diagnosis, your doctor may prescribe antibiotics, surgery, radiotherapy or hormone therapy to manage your prostate. If you wish to discuss any specific problem, you can consult an urologist.
