I am 25 year old and suffering from pain in my right leg for last 5 days. What should I do?

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Actually pain at calf/leg region can be due to many reasons, commonly it is muscular in nature but it can also be due to tendons, nerves, blood vessels etc or it can be a radiating pain from your lower back region. My advise to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - ice packs application intensively with elevation of your limbs at night - take a short course of anti-inflammatory medication as per your body's suitability - stop your physical activity till pain completely subsides - intensive physical therapy, training and proper muscle conditioning once pain has subsided - slow resumption of physical activities with proper pre activity warm up and stretching of muscles and short increments in duration of physical activity each day as per pain tolerance. I was doing yoga for spine. The yoga follows by lying flat on stomach and lifting the legs one by one. I did this yoga in morning. After that I am having pain in the back lower waist. If you are doing yoga for the first time or after a long time then the pain is OK provided you don't have a history of back pain. Or else wait for some days for the pain to subside by applying hot packs and rest.

dear friend when someone is getting pain during get up from bed or any surfaces after a long rest mean 5-6hours at least. facet joint syndrome is common reason. better do regular movement after getting up.as such no medicine can helps you in long term. just making you foolish. by giving some pain killer. first get done mri LS SPINE to ruled out reason behind u r pain. After that you can discuss with us in detail unwantedly takings any medicines has no use.

Sir, go for Ayurveda's Panchkarma Therapy - We have many option for u - Kati Basti (Specialised Panchakarma procedure for Backpains), Localised Massgae with Herbal oils, Localised Medicated Steam, Pottali Massage. Continue these procedures for atleast 15 days. Regular oiling of the joint will improve the lubrication also. These procedures will relax ur back muscles and give strength to ur nerves and muscles of back. also start some Yogic exercises - Tadasana, Dhanurasan, halasana along with these therapies. You need to build up your muscles and strength by gradually increasing your training. And do get your vitamin d3 levels tested. Antioxidants tablets will give you relief.

Hi I can understand your problem 1) avoid activities that make your symptoms worse 2) apply ice packs 3) start physiotherapy treatment as electrotherapy will reduce pain inflammation 4) exercise and manual therapy will help in pain free movement. Do massage with warm sesame oil or suitable oil for 15 min., afterwards take hot fomentation for 10 min. Start natural calcium supplement. Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. Inform after 10 days for further guidance.

For urine discharge learn kegel exercise. Consult physiotherapist and take 6 sessions of S.W.D and UST followed by strengthening exercise of knee.

Give pressure the dipping point on the portion between the thumb and the index finger on the back of the palm. Press and release for 15 times where the pain is more. This will solve the problem. Further do some wrist rotation exercise. Consult after 5 days. For further guidance and treatment.

I am 45yrs old I have multiple joint pains and muscle pain for last six months what shoud I do.

Joint & muscle pains are quite common ailment. Do not worry, rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Any way take ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days you will need other supportive medicines also. Take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Do back (spine) exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do reply back for private consultation and detailed treatment plan. Don? t ignore.

Sir I slipped on 24th of february. And was diagnosed with 2 fractures and a bone dislocation on my right foot. Around the ankle area. For which I underwent an operation on 29th feb where with the help 6-7 screws and a slab the dislocated bone was fixed. After which my leg was plastered. Below the knee level. It was plastered on 11th of march. And now on 11th of april it will be 4 weeks. Right now there is a slight tingling and a little pain in the area. The plaster has now loosened because earlier on 10th march there was a swelling due to the stitches. But now the swelling is not there. Yesterday they took of my. Now I am experiencing stiffness. Please help.

Stiffness is expected after 4 weeks of immobilisation with the plaster. Your surgeon would have referred you to a physiotherapist for ankle mobilisation exercises. if not then enquire with the surgeon because he would have seen the check xrays and he would know the status of your fracture healing.

First of all check your posture when you are lifting any material like heavy bucket. And try to lift the heavy bucket without bending your back. You may lift the bucket after bending your knees only. This will definitely help you. * gentle massage with lukewarm mustard oil of your waist area will also give you relief. * surya namaskar is only exercise which you need to do. * in diet vegetable protein of cereal, b complex supplements and half teaspoon of haldi in a cup of milk for seven days will give you enough relief.

Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain.

Knee Replacement Recovery Tips

Knee replacement surgery is a procedure that is used to replace a worn out knee joint with an artificial knee joint. Such a surgery is advised if your knee is causing pain and limiting your daily activities, provided other treatments have failed to cause the desired impact. Once the knee replacement surgery is completed, the focus shifts to the recovery phase.

  1. The duration of the recovery depends on the type of surgery and the individual.

  2. After the surgery, painkillers are administered to provide relief from the pain.

  3. In some cases, oxygen is administered through various tubes if required.

  4. A blood transfusion may also be required after a knee replacement surgery.

  5. The surgical wound will require a dressing to allow it to heal faster and prevent infection.

  6. A drain will be attached to the wound to drain out the blood from it and prevent accumulation of blood in the wound.

  7. The dressing of the wound should be changed regularly.

Post- Surgery Care

  • Post-surgery, you will need assistance to help you walk. If the surgery that you underwent was minimally invasive, then you should be able to walk on the very same day. Your physiotherapist will prescribe and show you some exercises to strengthen the knee. It is important that you follow his/her instructions to avoid complications.

  • A passive motion machine is sometimes prescribed as it helps to restore the movement of the knee. It helps in reducing the swelling by keeping your leg elevated and moving the knee when you are lying down.

Here are some knee replacement recovery tips:

  1. Avoid doing any work that puts pressure on the knees.

  2. Eat nutritious meals so that the body receives proper nourishment, thus allowing your leg to heal faster.

  3. Avoid heavy exercises which can strain your knees.

  4. Perform all the exercises prescribed by your physiotherapist to speed up the recovery process.

  5. Do not sit with your legs crossed for a few months after the surgery.
