My daughter is 3 years. She had cough every time. What is the problem and medicine.

MBBS, MD - Paediatrics
Pediatrician, Delhi
I understand your anxiety. Young children are known to have 8 to 10 episodes of upper respiratory infections in this age. Repeated cough can be an indication of asthma in children. Regards.

Easing Your Dental Anxieties

BDS, FICOI, MDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Easing Your Dental Anxieties

Dental anxiety or the fear of dentistry has been a buzz word for many to ignore and avoid trips to the dental chair unless there's a very strong pain related stimulus to do so.

While going to the dentist has never been perceived as a pleasant predicament to be in, the levels or degree to which they feel this unpleasantness, can vary widely from person to person.

There are those of us who just feel like procrastinating the appointment and then there are those of us who cannot sleep the previous night and pass out or throw up when we actually make it to the appointment.

Scientific basis underlying this is the degree of fear that you associate with the experience, so no matter whether you are just anxious or downright phobic here are a few things that'll help you keep your emotions and fear in check.

All talk no work -discussion based appointment.

If you're anxious or phobic it helps to ensure that you have all your concerns addressed before you jump on to the chair. (and so to speak the unknown)

Help your dentist identify the things that maybe difficult for you. People are usually scared of particular things like for some of maybe the sound of the drill, for others the water in their mouth so ensure you identify and communicate what's most unacceptable to you so that the dentist can be cautious and customize your treatment.

Timing is key

Fix your appointment before pain hits.

Communicate the degree of fear while making the appointment or request a tele consult to discuss your particular concerns.

Try and schedule a time when you can ensure the doctor is expecting you and won't keep you waiting so your anxiety doesn't grow.

Do your research

When choosing a practice ensure you know what their philosophy is in general and how do they manage dental pain, anxiety and phobias.

It would be advisable to ensure you are going to a practice trained and geared to manage your specific issues.

Besides being a great dental clinic with the right team and technology -the doctor needs to empathise with the reality of dental fear and should be trained to treat you in a different way then regular patients who can

Check in advance if the practice is painfree.

If you do end up doing the procedure,

Break your fear into bite sized chunks

Then ensure you choose to start with a smaller treatment and a shorter session like a cleaning or something that you don't attach fear to.

Once you have a rapport with the doctor you tend to build trust and get comfortable you can start coming in more regularly.

Do not do an internet search on your problem or talk to friends or relatives

The worst thing an anxious patient can do is tap the wrong resource for information. Please ensure that you are not self diagnosing and finding things that match your symptoms online. Things appear way more gory than they actually are on the internet! another mistake that people make often is discussing their dental problem with friends and family who further scare you with their bad experiences and your fear is compounded to a point where you now think all their cumulative dental mishaps are sure to happen to you.
Our advice is follow the above steps find the right doctor and then just sit back relax and enjoy your smile!

Mera beta four year ka hai, aksar raat ko uske leg mei pain rahata hai, aur morning mei thik ho jata hai, dard puri raat rahti hai, maine doctor ko dikhaya to doctor ne calcium syrup diya, ab sirup band karne ke baad bhi kavi kavi leg me pain ho raha hai, aur, raat bhar massage karne pe bhi aram nahi milta, so please mujhe aisa medicine ya oil bataya jo fast relif kare raat mei aur bacha aram se soye paye, mai raat mei bajut pareshen ho jati hu.

BHMS, MD - Alternate Medicine
Homeopath, Nagpur
App pehele to ye pata kar me ki bache ko leg me pain rahata hai ya koi air taklif hai. Agar calcium syrup dene me bad bhi bache me leg me pain rahata hai to bache ko calcium metabolism me taklif hai. Bacha calcium absorb nahi kar pa raha hai. App ek bar bache ki serum calcium karwa lo. Uske badme him bats sakte hai ki kya karan ho Santa hai.

Whats the maximum amount of or valporate sodium that can be given to 2 year old baby of 15 kg weight for controlling spasms / fits? Doctor is currently giving 5 ml twice a day. I am concerned whether that is less as it was same amount when baby was 10 kg. I thought amount should increase with weight.

M.D.( Pediatrics), DCH
Pediatrician,
If fits are controlled, no reason to worry. It's doctors job and he will do it sincerely, doctors are trained to deal with illness in appropriate way . If you take up on yourself to monitor drug doses and his medical condition, it will be very difficult to bear tension for you. You must have faith in your doc, if you worry something, please talk to him first.

My daughter age of just 02 months and she suffer of shorter breastmilk of her mother. So I ask you what food best of my daughter?

Diploma in Child Health (DCH), MBBS

The baby should get breast milk at least for 6 months. Mother should eat nutritious diet and take enough milk. She should also try to keep anxiety away. This should ensure enough milk supply. She should also feed the baby more often.

My daughter is 7 months old and not taking anything except her mother's milk. What should I do. Whenever we try to put anything in her mouth she just spits it out.

M.D.( Pediatrics), DCH
Pediatrician,
Persist with the efforts, children take variable time to like the food. Eat along with the child and let him see how you eat the same food. Parents are role model for children. Be patient, don't loose heart, so long as he is active and putting on weight.

I'm using sorliv syrup for my 4 months baby as per doctor suggestion per day 2.5ml and 3 times a day, started from past 3 days and doctor asked us to continue for 15 days because he was doing motion once in two days and he was not comfortable. But now I can see water with his motion like a loose motion. So is this safe to continue for 15 days or shall I stop the syrup?

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Sorliv syrup is prescribed for the treatment of liver disorders, asthma symptoms in adults, occasional constipation along with several other problems. Sorliv syrup contains the salts sorbitol, tricholine citrate as active ingredients. It is available in syrup form. Intima ipca labs manufactures sorliv syrup. Sorliv syrup is used in the treatment, control, prevention, & improvement of the following diseases, conditions and symptoms: liver disorders asthma symptoms in adults occasional constipation for your 4 month old baby if this was given for loose motion it is better to atop it and also stop bottle feeding if you give. For babies never feed from bottle with nipple and instead feed from a cup with spoon or a sipper. Breast milk is the best milk for babies. If you stop bottle feed itself the loose motion will stop and as a probiotic give enuff 10 mg sachets dissolved in a little water twice a day and breast milk and then contact me.

Yes your baby did not gained the desired weight. Along with breast feeds also give top feeds whenever baby cries. Also give solid foods more frequently and keep trying varieties. Check the weight every week and consult paediatrician regularly and take proper nutritional guidance for the baby.
