Respected sir / Madam, I am 56 years old man and I am suffering from headache due to stress in behind of neck muscles...
Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. There are many causes of pain in neck region. It can be due to faulty posture, related to weak muscles, issues with intervertebral disc, narrowing of spinal canal, any bony instability besides many other, so accurate diagnosis is the key to proper management of the condition. You will have to elaborate your problem as to a detailed discussion of your neck pain which means duration of pain and mode of onset. I would also like to ask you if it is associated with any radiating upper limb pain or any other neurological symptoms like numbness, paraesthesias (electrical shock like abnormal sensations) or any weakness in limbs. Please also tell me about any associated symptoms like fever, weight loss etc. What medications you generally take and what has been your treatment history till now for existing problem. I will also like to see your investigations like x rays and mri scan of the cervical spine so that I can identify the pathology and advise you accordingly. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation.

When I sit I feel uncomfortable and pain in the lower back. Please suggest.

Dip. SICOT (Belgium), MNAMS, DNB (Orthopedics), MBBS
Orthopedist,
When I sit I feel uncomfortable and pain in the lower back. Please suggest.
Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You have mentioned back pains which in your case could be due to spinal degeneration besides many other causes. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation.

Severe pain on the heel of foot after resting for a while on seat or bed. Finding hard to walk after standing from seat/bed especially in the morning after sleep. It will be relieved after some time of walk.

BPTh/BPT
Physiotherapist, Bangalore
Hello, start stretching your sole and calf muscles before you get up after prolonged sitting or early morning after your sleep. You've to take an x-ray of your foot. If you're diagnosed plantar fascitis or spur then you've to take treatment for the same with the Physiotherapist. And if you're obese try to reduce weight. Sir, for last few months I am suffering from pain at foot, due to this I am not able to stand for more than 2-3 minutes, its like a burning pain at foot.

Dip. SICOT (Belgium), MNAMS, DNB (Orthopedics), MBBS
Orthopedist, Delhi
Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. See if you have pain in foot region, then it can be due to multiple reasons depending upon which region of foot is involved like front of the foot or back of the foot region etc? but if there is a burning sensation also associated then it may indicate a nerve involvement, so please tell clearly what is the problem. Also have you got tests like vitamin b 12, vitamin d levels done recently after the onset of your complaints? also if you can send me a clinical picture from your mobile phone showing which site do you exactly feel pain and burning sensation, it will be useful? do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Sir my knee is slitly touching each other and I want join the defense sir so there is any way to correct it.

DNB (Orthopedics), Diploma In Orthopaedics (D. Ortho), MBBS

When the knees touch each other it is called knock knees (medical term is valgus knees). Since it's a mechanical problem the only way of setting it right is by surgery. The type of surgery will depend on your age and the condition of the knee joint surface.

The back ache since 2 months might be due to your improper sitting postures or may be due to some sort of lower back vertebral problems . Initially try some yoga and do regular exercise and if it still persists get the xray and ruleout any probable vertebral/disc problems ..

Can be solved through acupressure/ acupuncture easily. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. This will relieve your problem eat nutritious food including green vegetables, dairy products fruits do regular exercise. Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. My mother have pain in her left hand. And it increases when she goes for walking. She doesn't have any chest complaints. ECG and echo results are normal. Cervical xray was done and it also came out to be normal. What should be done now?

My mother have pain in her left hand. And it increases when she goes for walking. She doesn't have any chest complain...
Her left hand pain may be due to strain, sprain, weather change etc.*some times left hand may be used as support of head in lieu of a pillow. Soft bed will not give proper support to back bone. Hard bed with thin mattress and thin pillow is better. Homoeopathy has a good treatment for this without adverse effects. Take bryonia 200--once daily in the morning for 6 days.

I am having a back bone and neck pain after wakeup from sleep. How can I get the pain relief ?

MSc in Orhopedic Physiotherapy (UK), BPTh/BPT

I am having a back bone and neck pain after wakeup from sleep. How can I get the pain relief ?
The most common form of morning stiffness and pain is due to muscle imbalances and poor conditioning of the muscles themselves. Here are some tips for how to handle your back pain: -while sleeping, try lying in a curled-up, fetal position with a pillow between your legs. If you usually sleep on your back, place a pillow or rolled towel under your knees to relieve pressure. -find a mattress with back support. A good mattress should provide support for the natural curves and alignment of the spine. Medium-firm mattresses usually provide more back pain relief than firm mattresses. -do not perform activities that involve heavy lifting or twisting of your back -avoid bending forward and sitting in a place for long time -stretching and strengthening exercises are important. -a physiotherapist can tell you when to begin stretching and strengthening exercises and learn how to safely, easily, stretch and strengthen the weak and tight areas of your lower back and hips which cause pain while sleeping. Best wishes.

Anyway it may be tried sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomentation paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Bio d3 max 1 tab od x10. Do neck, back, knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Do not ignore it. Let it not become beginning of a bigger problem. Make sure that you are not allergic to any of the medicines that you are going to take. For emergency treatment contact your nearest hospital or family doctor. If it does not give relief in 4-5 days
