Hello lybrate user, have you diagnosed with investigations as gastric ulcer? - if it is your own thot then difficult to consider - as you have stomach pain where and when it ll pain matters here. - if it is gastritis by changing your food habits and lifestyle and with few medicines you can come out if that - you have to avoid strictly all street foods junk oily spicy foods - maintain time of sleep always and it shld start before 11pm - have pomegranate fruit more - take kamadhudha ras 2-0-2 - madhiphala rasayana 20ml thrice a day - drink warm water before going to bed. Do it for 15days. Instructions are general. Thank you.

Diabetes, often referred to by doctors as diabetes mellitus, describes a group of metabolic diseases in which the person has high blood glucose (blood sugar), either because insulin production is inadequate, or because the body's cells do not respond properly to insulin, or both. It is a difficult task to control blood sugar in the desired normal range. Whatever we eat is metabolised to sugar in the body to provide energy for our daily activities. For the absolute control, one has to monitor his / her blood sugar at regular intervals (Self-Monitoring of Blood glucose – SMBG). Though difficult, this can be done by a glucometer and keep a record. Get an idea of Fasting sugar (FBS) and 2 hours after food (PPBS), & HbA1C (inform me) and check before dinner and after every major food. The basic idea is to reduce the food intake to 1/3 of what you take now. The dictum of sugar control is diet, exercise, diet + medicine and at later stage medicine+ Insulin will be needed. There are different diet plans of varying calories for each person depending on his activity & life style. For diabetes, hypertension (high BP) and many long-term illness control there is the need for regular advice and follow up. Just one time consultation or advice is not enough to guide a diabetic in scientifically & medically correct manner. For giving you regular follow up you ask me with all details like your daily eating pattern and medicines you take. I assure you a proper guidance. If you keep in touch personally. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease - A Serious Bacterial STD!!

Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, also known as PID, is characterized by an infection that occurs in woman's reproductive organs. Usually, this occurs as a result of complications arising from STD. The disease causes severe damage to the ovaries, fallopian tubes and the uterus. It is one of the major causes of infertility in women

Mode of infection- The cervix (the lower part of uterus), which is the entry to the body of the uterus has the function of stopping bacteria that are present in the vagina from spreading to other organs. Once infected by STD, the cervix can no longer perform its function effectively of preventing bacteria from spreading to other organs. PID develops when the infection spreads from cervix to the upper areas of the genital tract.

There are certain factors which increase chances of being affected by PID:

  • Being sexually active
  • Already affected by one
  • Past history of PID
  • Having multiple sexual partners

Symptoms- Women may experience pain while urinating and engaging in sexual intercourse, coupled with sore feeling in the stomach along with nausea. Abnormal vaginal discharge and a rise in body temperature are other symptoms.

Treatment- Once the disease has been diagnosed by a doctor, a treatment plan is devised. The treatment options that you can avail of are:

  1. Medications: If the symptoms are mild, then the doctor will prescribe antibiotic medications. Usually, the antibiotics are administered by mouth unless the symptoms are severe, when the drugs are administered by injection. Your partner may also require medications sometimes if you happen to be diagnosed with PID.
  2. Surgery: Surgery may have to be recommended by the doctor in case of severe tissue inflammation and the presence of pus (abscess). The aim of surgery is to get rid of the abscess.

In addition to the treatment methods, there are certain precautionary measures that one can adopt to be safe:

  1. Have protected sex.
  2. Try and stick to one sexual partner.
  3. Visit your gynecologist for regular checkups.

In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!
