Your wife's BMI is 33.4 She has to persist with a low carbohydrate and low fat high protein diet. Stop all cereals, sugar, bakery products and desserts. Take the white of 2 boiled eggs and lots of fruits and green vegetables and salads. Go for an hour long walk every day. If you don't loose weight soon you will develop diabetes and high BP. She needs Bariatric Surgery to help you with sustained weight loss. For more details read the health tips I have written on this website OR send me a personal question.

Dark circles are because of inadequate sleep stress and strain. Mostly it's genetic also. Home remedies I have read mostly are cucumber juice mixed with little honey

Firstly there's no lifelong cure for the common cold. Antibiotics are only effective against infections of throat and are of no use against cold viruses. Over-the-counter (otc) cold preparations won't cure a common cold or make it go away any sooner, and most have side effects. A saltwater gargle 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2tsp turmeric dissolved in a glass of warm water can temporarily relieve a sore or scratchy throat. To help relieve nasal congestion, try saline (pure salt water) nasal drops.

Seems you have a dry skin condition. To maintain the skin health and reduce the dry skin condition follow this - 1.Bathe with gentle soaps. If possible use some natural ingredients like gramflour, turmeric mixed with some milk to bathe daily. This does not wash your skin off the natural oils. 2.Keep your bath short and do not use hot water to bathe. Use only lukewarm water. 3.Apply Vitamin E oil or warm olive oil on the body after bathing. You can also use a good moisturiser. 4.Cocoa butter mixed with wheat germ oil is also very good at maintaining the skin health. 5.You can mix some oils like – Sesame, olive, virgin coconut oil, wheat germ oil to apply before going to bed. 6.Consume diet that is rich in vitamin E, omega 3 and 6 and other skin friendly vitamins like vitamin E and A. Eat almonds, walnuts, flaxseeds, sesame seeds to maintain skin health. 7.Keep yourself hydrated. Drink atleast 8-10 glasses of water to keep your skin soft and supple.

What is symptoms of flu and how we recognized the disease and what medicine is required.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
What is symptoms of flu and how we recognized the disease and what medicine is required.
FLU (also known as the INFLUENZA) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by flu viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. The flu is different from a cold. The flu usually comes on suddenly. People who have the flu often feel some or all of these symptoms:---------------------------- •Fever or feeling feverish/chills----- •Cough--------- •Sore throat-------- •Runny or stuffy nose-------- •Muscle or body aches---------- •Headaches---------- •Fatigue (tiredness)------------------ •Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea, though this is more common in children than adults.-------------- Preventive Homoeopathic medicine------------------------- INFLUENZINUM 200 (Dr Reckeweg) Drink 2 drops direct on tongue weekly and time during the day preferably at night before sleep-----------------------Flu viruses spread mainly by droplets made when people with flu cough, sneeze or talk. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs-------------------------Method of prevention after a Flu infection---- 1. People should stay away from sick people and stay home if sick.------------ 2. Wash hands often with soap and water.----------- 3. Linens, eating utensils, and dishes belonging to those who are sick should not be shared without washing thoroughly first.---------------- 4. Eating utensils can be washed either in a dishwasher or by hand with water and soap and do not need to be cleaned separately.-------------- 5. Frequently touched surfaces should be cleaned and disinfected at home, work and school, especially if someone is ill.

Skincare Myth Busters

Skincare Myth Busters

Most research on skin care is focussed on white, Caucasian skin types who live in cold temperate environments. Our Indian skin types are darker and in mostly hot, humid climates. Our skin reacts and adapts differently to the environment. Here are some unusual, interesting, skin care myth busters, specifically for Indian skin.

1. Myth: Exfoliation is an essential part of skin care regime.

Fact: Exfoliation is not an essential part of skin care regime.

Your skin is living tissue, which begins growing from the lower layer and is gradually pushed and shed automatically over a period of a few weeks from the skin surface. Simple gentle soap water bath is normally enough for most individuals and there is simply no need for you to try and exfoliate your skin. Let your dermatologist decide whether you need any exfoliation procedures.

2. Myth: It is important to check the type of wash you use.

Fact: It does not matter too much as to which wash you use.

A bewildering variety of soaps, syndet bars, lotions, body washes are available to clean your skin. You don't need to be very choosy. Simply use any one that suits your skin. People with dry and allergic skin need to be more careful and require non irritating, milder products. Avoid using 'antibacterial' or so called 'medicated soaps', since all these 'medications' are going to be washed off anyway along with the rinsing action. Don't expect to kill any bugs in this fashion.

3. Myth: Oily skin needs to be moisturized every day.

Fact: Oily skin may not need moisturizing.

You may have active sebaceous glands on the central part of your face causing oiliness. However, the rest of your skin may be dry. Apply moisturizers after baths on the dry areas. On the oily parts of your skin, you can skip the moisturizer and simply wash gently to keep the oil away.

4. Myth: Natural medicines are safer because they do not contain chemicals.

Fact: Most natural medicines contain many unknown chemicals of unknown significance.

More than $1 billion and over 12.5 years of painstaking work by scores of scientists are typically required to evaluate just one potential new chemical for medicinal use. Only a few chemicals pass through these very stringent series of scientific tests before they are carefully released for human use. It is a common practice in India to use many other unscientific medications. These purportedly safe, harmless and natural medicines are often concoctions of unknown chemicals (yes, chemicals!) that do not pass through any such rigorous testing, leaving serious doubts about their efficacy and safety.

5. Myth: Acne is just skin deep.

Fact: Acne is often driven by hormones.

Obtaining a flawless skin over a few months is actually quite easy under the supervision of any good dermatologist. However, acne is driven by hormones and that is why seen mostly in teenagers and young adults. Some patients may have associated oily skin, weight gain, menstrual irregularities, hair loss and excessive hair on the chin. All this may point to internal hormonal issues which your dermatologist may detect and investigate.

6. Myth: Drinking lots of water results in beautiful skin.

Fact: Drinking excess water does not help.

Inadequate water consumption can severely affect the proper functioning of your internal organs and your body as a whole. It is extremely essential to drink sufficient water to facilitate the proper functioning of your body and to ensure a healthy glow in your skin. However, you should also remember that drinking excess water does nothing extra for your skin.

7. Myth: Skin Brightening Creams Give Fairer Skin.

Fact:Skin brightening creams can be harmful.

Fairness creams have long been accused of being discriminatory and racist, but what is a lesser known fact about the billion dollar industry is that they can land you with far more serious problems. Many of these creams contain harmful compounds, which can permanently damage your skin and also your internal organs.Prescription creams from your pharmacy are meant to be used only under medical supervision and misuse by self medication can land you in serious trouble. Don't use medicines on your own, even if you are a doctor!

8. Myth: Sunscreens are essential for everybody.

Fact: Sunscreens are recommended to prevent skin cancers.

Sunscreens were developed and are recommended internationally to prevent skin cancers. Chances are that you use your sunscreen for another less serious reason: you want to prevent a tan and want your skin to remain fairer. If this is the case, use a broad-spectrum, water resistant sunscreen, which protects against both UVA and UVB radiation and also probably against sweat. You need to apply at least an ounce (30 ml) every 2 hours on exposed areas of your skin. Applying this entire amount so frequently in a hot, muggy, climate may not be very comfortable and it will most likely pinch your pocket. You could consider using hats, umbrellas and sun-protective clothing instead.

I have red eye for 5 months and I take many medical treatments but no effect. Provide me the guidance of treatment.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
I have red eye for 5 months and I take many medical treatments but no effect. Provide me the guidance of treatment.
Hello, Bloodshot eyes appear red because the vessels at the surface of the white portion of the eye (sclera) become swollen. Vessels may swell due to: Eye dryness Too much sun exposure Dust or other particles in the eye Allergies Infection Injury Eye infections or inflammation can cause redness as well as possible itching, discharge, pain, or vision problems. Other causes of eye redness include Colds or allergies, Acute glaucoma, Corneal scratches: Injuries caused by sand, dust, or overuse of contact lenses. Sometimes, a bright red spot, called a subconjunctival hemorrhage, will appear on the white of the eye. This often happens after straining or coughing, which causes a broken blood vessel on the surface of the eye. Most often, there is no pain and your vision is normal. It is almost never a serious problem. Because the blood leaks into the conjunctiva, which is clear, you cannot wipe or rinse the blood away. Like a bruise, the red spot will go away within a week or two. Management: - Try to rest your eyes if redness is due to fatigue or eye strain. No other treatment is needed. - Wash your hands, hold clean water in your hand, keep your eyes closer to the water and wash the eyes by blinking the eyelids frequently in the held water in hand. Repeat it for 3-4 times again. - Avoid watching T.V., working on computer or mobile, reading. - In case there is itching, use a clean napkin or a tissue to wipe the tears and cleaning the eyelids gently. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines - Schwabe’s Belladonna 30 and Euphrasia 30 - both thrice daily for 4 days. Use Euphrasia Eye drops twice daily. Revert back thereafter.

Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).
