Homeopathic Treatment For Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is a disorder that affects nighttime breathing and is caused by either a malfunction in the brain that temporarily stops sending signals to the muscles that control breathing, or by an obstruction in the airway.

Causes of Sleep Apnea-
It occurs when muscles in the back of your throat relax, tonsillitis, adenoids, obesity, middle-aged, heart disease, stroke, sedative medicines, large neck circumference, large tongue etc.

Symptoms of Sleep Apnea-

  1. Feeling of excessively sleepy during a day
  2. Lack concentration and low memory status
  3. Depression
  4. Short temperament
  5. Irritability
  6. Hyperactive children
  7. Leg swelling
  8. Impotency in males
  9. Insomnia
  10. Frequent waking up for urination in night
  11. Tiresome feeling in morning

Homeopathic  Treatment of Sleep Apnea-
Homeopathy is one of the most popular holistic systems of medicine. The selection of remedy is based upon the theory of individualization and symptoms similarity by using holistic approach. This is the only way through which a state of complete health can be regained by removing all the sign and symptoms from which the patient is suffering.

The aim of homeopathy is not only to treat sleep apnoea but to address its underlying cause and individual susceptibility. As far as therapeutic medication is concerned, several well-proved medicines are available for sleep apnoea treatment that can be selected on the basis of cause, sensation and modalities of the complaints. For individualized remedy selection and treatment, the patient should consult a qualified homeopathic doctor in person. Some of the most common homeopathic medicines for Sleep Apnea are-

  1. Arsenicum Album: Arsenicum album is often prescribed for individuals who have breathing difficulties at night and is considered for people with a fearful, tense and agitated response to illness.
  2. Lachesis: Lachesis is a remedy prescribed for conditions that worsen at night. This medicine is designed for people who are typically fearful and anxious, but also prone to jealousy and excessive talking.
  3. Sulphur: By reputation, sulphur is a commonly prescribed homeopathic remedy, especially for nighttime congestion and sweating. Homeopathic sulphur combats a wheezy cough and congested head, both of which are suffered in sleep apnea.
  4. Spongia Tosta: This remedy for croup may help congestive sleep apnea sufferers as it treats respiratory symptoms that worsen when lying down.

Before taking these medications, it is important to visit the doctor who will take a detailed case history of your problem and prescribe the right dosage and combination of medication.

Greetings from Bangladesh. Six months ago my Father (age 59) started to suffer from enormous headache and eye-ache on his left side with continue tears on his left eye. We consulted with an eye specialist, did the MRI of Brain Orbit and came to know that my father had a minor brain stroke 10 months ago and there is a possibility of a brain hemorrhage. He then referred to a Neurosurgeon, who evaluate the MRI report and after a quick check up we were told not to worry, there are no brain hemorrhage and regular medication will cure the problems. But the medicine is not working properly as His left eye became completely vision less and the unbearable headache continue. My father has diabetic and high blood pressure, which are in control with insulin and regular medication. He also had a urological surgery (Nephron Spearing Surgery indicating Right Renal Moss) earlier in 2014. This continuous headache and eye-ache is killing him day by day. What we suppose to do now?

Unilateral headache with eye pain eye discharge and vision loss with a brain stroke and if all possible local eye diseases are properly ruled out by the eye specialist, then some very serious conditions like vasculitis (especially temporal arteritis) needs to be ruled out, because if it is present it can be treated at this point and eye vision can be preserved. Some other conditions like ophthalmoplegic/ retinal migraine also to be considered and can be treated if diagnosed intime.

This doesn't look like hypoglycaemia. If he is diabetic and is on medication, check the blood sugar when he gets such symptoms. But this might be something else.

I have shooting pains in my leg. Along with numbness and a sensation of needles pricking. What should I do?
It may be due to weakness of muscles or nerves causing difficulty in blood flow to your legs. Or it may be due to slip disc of back at lumbar region resulting in sciatic nerve compression causing radiating pain & numbness from lower back till legs. You should go for physiotherapy treatment for it to reduce pain & numbness and to improve muscle power of back & legs. You can visit me for physiotherapy treatment. Or you can consult me in private for free consultation.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young and these symptoms point out c8, t1 or ulnar nerve involvement. As you have stated do you feel pain anywhere from neck region to your hand? is there any radiating pain also in involved upper limb? do you also feel numbness in forearm region as well? numbness is a manifestation that there is some nerve compression somewhere along the course and treatment depends upon where compression actually is? do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Dear Vishal, Since your grandmother is already having Alzheimer's, you can not prevent it. You can reduce its progression further by giving cholinesterase inhibitor kind of drugs. For you not getting Alzheimer's later, you can keep active life style, play memory games, eat healthy and exercise regularly.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Migrain is a form of headache. The pain is usually throbbing, pulsating and bursting in character. At times, the pain is one sided or may involve the whole head. Such pain may last for hours or even days. It is often accompanied by other symptoms like nausea or vomiting. At the same time, there is increased sensitivity to light and sound. The causes of the problem may vary from one patient to another and so will the final choice of the homeopathic remedy will also vary. Prevention tips :- 1. Keep a headache diary: This may help you in identifying the trigger factors such as foods, activities and weather 2. Exercise regularly: Regular exercise, yoga and relaxation techniques such as meditation can also be of great help. 3. Keep regular sleep patterns: Sleep adequately. Sleeping too much or too less can trigger migraine. 4. Watch out what you eat:Foods such as caffeine and Chinese foods that contain monosodium glucamate and chocolates cheese are well-known trigger factors. 5. Eat regularly: Fasting is a very common trigger in many people. If it is such a factor for you too, make sure that you eat at regular intervals. ***Selection of Homoeopathic remedy depends upon the totality of your symptoms. So please share your symptoms.

Hi sir, I am suffering with fits from 2005, from past 4.5 years I am not facing any problem regarding the issue. The doctor I visit regularly shifted to other place. In staring I used eptoin 300mg-350mg, I am using levipil 500 mg twice a day from 2013 jan. Can I stop medication as I am not suffering with fits about 4.5 years or not, so that I will consult doctor after your opinion.

DNB (ENT), MBBS
ENT Specialist, Bangalore
As per standard protocols, there needs to at least 5 years of seizure free period before tapering and stopping medications. Newer protocols followed by some doctors believe in stopping medications even if there is 1 year of seizure free interval. It is best that you consult with your neurologist and let him decide on what is best for you.

Hello Lybrate user, Pain killers is not the solution for Migraine always. Check what is the triggering factor of your problem and try to avoid it. 1. Check with stress is causing migraine then you will have to manage your lifestyle. 2. Long term Acidity can also be a cause for migraine so you have to take care of it using ayurvedic medicines for best results. 3. Increase in eye problem i.e. check whether you eye no. has increased if you have specks. 4. Avoid oily, spicy and salty food in your diet. Avoid heavy to digest items like nonveg, bread, pizza etc. 5. Drink less tea if you drink it too much. 6. In you food add 1/2 tsp of ghee like in on your roti or in rice. 7. Do not consume alcohol/ carbonated drinks as they tend to increase migraine in long run. 8. Add amount of almonds, whole grain seeds, fruits n vegetables in diet. Stay hydrated.  9. Due to excess anger and stress migraine aggravates in many patient.  10. Don't stay awake late night or sleep in day time as both increase stress in body. 11. Do you have gas n constipation problem if yes that should be treated first. Ayurvedic treatment is very effective in this problem get in touch with me on Lybrate for further guidance.

I'm 27 Year old man with frequent migraines and I take migranil or Suminat tablets. The pain is very severe and sometimes lasts for two days. Please suggest ways to avoid migraines and please clarify if it is normal to get migraines frequently and also suggest medication. Thank you!

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
he International Headache Society defines chronic migraine as more than fifteen headache days per month over a three month period of which more than eight are migrainous, in the absence of medication over use. Episodic migraine is the other migraine sub-type, which is defined as less than 15 headache days per month. Though migraine causes aren't understood, genetics and environmental factors appear to play a role. Migraines may be caused by changes in the brainstem and its interactions with the trigeminal nerve, a major pain pathway. Imbalances in brain chemicals — including serotonin, which helps regulate pain in your nervous system — also may be involved. Researchers are still studying the role of serotonin in migraines. You have to avoid triggers which bring on migraine and do meditation and yoga and when there is pain take SUminat. A number of factors may trigger migraines, including: Hormonal changes in women. Fluctuations in estrogen seem to trigger headaches in many women. ... Foods. Aged cheeses, salty foods and processed foods may trigger migraines. ... Food additives. ... Drinks. ... Stress. ... Sensory stimuli. ... Changes in wake-sleep pattern. ... Physical factors.

Her headaches might be because of tensions. From the symptoms you described, it does not appear to be like migraine. Encourage her to share her worries with you or someone who she can trust. Assure her of your support as well. Tell her that you love her and you care for her. Tell her that when she is worried you also get affected and you both together can find some solutions to your problems. Also ask her to avoid going out in the mornings presently, as it is very hot outside because of summers. Ask her to drink plenty of water. See if she is having her food properly or not. In spite of doing all this, if the headache continues then consult a doctor. Avoid self medication. Take care.
