Dear lybrateuser, -Unless your mind is at peace you will not be able to concentrate & study well, one requires a peaceful, friendly & congenial atmosphere to do well in any field -your decision to change your college is justified as under mental disturbance & hostile environment you cannot do well, let people say what they want you should have faith in your decision, study hard & do well they will be happy with you & you also will come over your apprehensions about changing the college.

I am suffering from stress and can't cope up with daily routine. Need some help. I get irritated on small matters.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
I am suffering from stress and can't cope up with daily routine. Need some help. I get irritated on small matters.
The stress that you feel is not dependent on the stressor: It is entirely dependent on your perception of stress. Change your perception, there is no stress: it?s like looking at a glass half full or half empty. Life is difficult no doubt, as a general rule, but what we do adds to the stress in our response. We add to the stress of life instead of reducing it or learning to deal with it. Many of us follow a policy of avoidance, like your question seeks. We cannot do that all of our lives. So the first thing to do is to change your perception. For example, look at it as a challenge that you would like to meet with a positive outlook. See everything as a gift from God to perform as though you are doing it for Him. God never gives us work to do beyond our capacity. Now you may argue that it is the Government that is giving all the work. That is true in the overt sense, but if you look at it with spiritual eyes, you know that it is ultimately given by God. Secondly, build a good constitution mentally, emotionally and physically to combat stress. Eat healthily, sleep well, and exercise regularly. Talk about your emotions regularly to a good friend every day. Learn stress management techniques, which is all about expressing your feelings in appropriate ways. Do Yoga and meditation. Pray every day to God to give you the strength, and offer your work as a prayer to Him ? you will give your best and you will feel so satisfied when you do it well. At work you must learn to delegate much or some of your work to subordinates. If you do not trust, you will find it difficult to delegate. You must also explore the possibility whether you get irritated (another word for anger) when you are actually scared! In tha case people and you will focus on the worng feeling (anger) when in fact you shuld be dealing with the fear. When far is not dealt with it will pile up in your system and continue to bother you long after the incident and leave you more frustrated. Solution: reach out from the fear and when you sort that out, anger will not be required!

Dear, at your age, memory problems like amnesia are not common. Many young people are having problems with memory. These problems are either they are too busy or due to anxiety and stress. Busy people use organizers or employ a personal assistant because they can't remember every task. You need to understand this. If you still say, you are having memory problems, we need to check your memory using memory test. If you want more of my help in this regard, please contact me. Take care.

I have weak mind efficiency. I learn the things very carefully and forget in the exams. What I have to do?

General Physician,
10 Study Tips to Improve Your Learning Study Tip 1: Underlining Underlining is one of the simplest and best known study tips. It’s easy to highlight the most significant parts of what you’re reading. One key sentence per paragraph and a few important phrases here and there. You can only retain a certain amount so it’s best to retain the most important information. Study Tip 2: Make Your Own Study Notes Taking Notes is one of the most widespread study skills out there. Essentially the aim of note-taking is to summarise lectures or articles in your own words so you can easily remember the ideas. Study Tip 3: Mind Mapping A good Mind Map can save you many hours of study and further consolidate your knowledge for your exams. Mind Maps are an extremely versatile tools. They can be used for brainstorming, outlining essays or study topics and for general exam preparation. ExamTime offers the ability to create Mind Maps quickly and easily which makes them the ideal tool when it comes to exams. Study Tip 4: Flashcards Using Flashcards is a particularly effective method of learning when trying to assimilate different facts, dates, formulas or vocabulary. Subjects such as History, Physics, Maths, Chemistry, Geography or any language are made much easier if you incorporate Flashcards in to your study. Study Tip 5: Case Studies Sometimes it can be difficult to grasp the implications of some theories. This is where studying case studies can be a big help. Case studies can help you visualise a theory and place it in a more familiar and realistic context. This is especially useful in business or law subjects. Study Tip 6: Quizzes are an excellent way to review study notes in the weeks and days before an exam. Quizzes can show where your strengths and weaknesses are, so it allows you to focus your efforts more precisely. Moreover, if you share your Study Quiz with your classmates and test each other as much as possible you can discover even more details and areas you may have overlooked. So before any exam, make sure you create and share a bunch of different Quizzes with your Friends. Study Tip 7: Brainstorming This is another study technique that is ideal for studying with friends and/or classmates. Brainstorming is a great way to expand every possible idea out of any topic. Just get a bunch of friends together and shoot the breeze, there are no wrong answers when brainstorming – just talk and capture the ideas, you can review afterward. Study Tip 8: Mnemonic Rules Mnemonics are especially useful when memorising lists and sets. Mnemonics rules basically work by associating certain concepts with other concepts that are more familiar to us. There are many different ways to make mnemonics and these can be individual to the person. Study Tip 9: Organising Your Study One of the most effective study skills is also one of the most often overlooked; this is organising your study. Creating a study timetable gives you goals and a time in which to achieve them. Having a study timetable as you study is greatly motivational. ExamTime has a free Study Planner tool which makes organising your study extremely easy. Study Tip 10: Drawing Many people find it easier to recall images rather than text, that is why they are better able to memorise concepts if they associate them with pictures or drawings. That is why ExamTime’s tools allow you to add images. ExamTime’s tools are geared towards helping different types of learners as visual learning is often overlooked in classrooms, which are more text or aural based. Iseful.

Hi, It is good that you do not smoke or drink, bcoz those side effects will ruin your family relationship as well as your normal life. Forgetting every single thing means your daily routines, or forgetting your official tasks or missing your money or mobiles, we need to first analyse what type of memory loss you have whether it is only after a sudden incident or it is there from a prolonged period of time. So we need to know the complete detailed information regarding the same. Only then, we can assist and provide you treatment and other procedures to solve your problem. If you are interested and wanted help or assistance to help you you are most welcome. Until then, take care. With regards, Psy. MSV.

I am a 53 years old Banker had a glorious past for the last 1 year I am feeling stress on my mind my memory power is ...
Dear lybrate user. I guess by what you mean a glorious past 1 year you meant a high achievement and successful year. That's really great but than why you are having difficulty in remembering names and references is the question. You have high achievements and high expectations and thus high amount of stress in life. Stress does not come by high work load but comes by the attachments and associations we make with that work. We work hard so as to make our future bright and after one achievement we again work hard to make another achievement to brighten our future. So we are continually in the process of thinking about the future and not living our present. I hope this is making sense to you and you could relate it to your problem. What I would suggest to you is to work for your expectations and achievements but take a good amount of time to relax. Its simple to consciously adopt some stress management strategies in life so as to live our present to the best. 30 mins of daily aerobic exercise of your interest, fixed time schedule for work, fixed sleep - wake schedule, healthy nutritious diet at fixed schedules, avoid junk food. Spend 30 mins to 1 hour a day of quality time with your family say your wife and children. Quality time means just to be with them with no beeps of gadgets around us and no talks about work. These are some of the tips which may help you. Other than this you may learn mindfulness exercises and inculcate the same in your life for your best performance. There are cognitive enhancers available which helps to increase attention, concentration and memory of a person, but I personally feel that bringing stress management and mindfulness in your life will be sufficient. I hope this will help you. Take care.

The various syrups available in the market for stress and all are coming sorbitol based what us sorbitol and is it no...
Sorbitol is basically a sweeter, one form of sugar. It is also present in many other preparation and mostly it is not a primary ingredient to help you relax. Also reaching out side for stress removal is a short term strategy which does not help in a long run. There are other, more effective ways to learn to manage your stress. When things does not happen as we wish or people do not behave as we expect that is when out of disappointment, frustration, loneliness, anger, sadness. Etc we react and our mind starts thinking negative thoughts. Changing this pattern of responding to stressful situation requires both persistence and patience. Also you will only be able to work on this out of love and kindness towards you. Strong motivation will go a long way. Writing a statement about how would you want to respond in a similar situation and how will your life and your happiness will change if you do learn to manage your stress and how to respond to it. Once that is clear. Try following things to learn relaxation response which leads to better coping mechanism on a daily basis. To begin with doing guided progressive muscular relaxation before sleeping will help you relax. You could google and download an audio file. I would also suggest you to take a multiple small break to take 3 nice and deep breath while keeping your eyes closed. You could do this while sitting or standing or while even walking or climbing stairs (keep your eyes open in that case). When you take a nice and deep break there is actual physiological change in your body. This will help you to activate parasympathetic nervous system which promotes relaxation and helps you calm down and think more clearly. This will also actually improve your performance in your work. Along with this exercise is one of the best way to relive stress and stay fit. Engage in any kind of physical activity at least 4 times a week. This also helps in stress reduction. Along with this some relaxation exercises as well as engaging in joyful activities such as music, singing, dancing, reading, being in nature, gardening, talking with friends or anything which you enjoy will help reducing stress and rejuvenation of your mind and body. Have good routine for sleep and eating. Lot of research has now proven that sugar is very harmful for our health. Reduce sugar and refined white floor in your diet as much as you could. Along with this also increase consumption of raw vegetables in the form of salad in both the meals of your day. As a positive psychologist and a certified life and wellness coach I would be able to help build resilience and confidence to take on life and learn how to excel in what you do. I also offer 3 to 6 months program where we need on a weekly basis to work towards your goal achievement. In case of need you may contact me. Hope this helps. Wishing you very best.

Mecobalamin has negligible role in controlling anxiety. Unless you have viatmin b12 deficiency it is hardly needed as a supplement if you have a good diet. Anyways its safe to take oral mecobalamin 1500mcg if you wish so.

Hi sir I use to chew gutka for a long time what are the precautions should I take?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
If it is Hans and gutkha products, they are both very dangerous. I am so glad that your intention is to quit these habits. There are no guarantees about stopping one’s addiction. But that does not mean we should not keep at it, over and over again until we succeed. Both are tobacco products and will therefore have addictive components to them. It may feel like you can’t stop but that it really not true. If you do not try, then it will never happen. You must try and try again until you succeed. The problem with addiction is that you have two products which are both conditioned to various events in your daily life and as such it will make it difficult but not impossible. You could work with an addiction counselor to help you process the rehabilitation. It is important to first find out about the ill-effects of tobacco use to have a reason that alarms you about continuing in the habit. The information is really scary and true. The nicotine in tobacco stimulates the heart beat to raise the blood pressure in no time at all. So you must avoid it like the plague: it is just very bad medicine for you. In fact it is highly toxic too. You will need to stop consuming any tobacco related items with immediate effect. Nicotine also reduces the erectile capacity of your penis to hamper satisfying sex. You should start vigorous exercises, gradually increasing it over a period of time. You need to replace the oral urge with some healthy food substitute to satiate the need. You may also take hard candy or chewing gum. If the urge is too strong, then use nicotine chewing gum or nicotine patches, for a little while until the tobacco drive reduces, substantially. Both will help but I am inclined to favor the gum because it is an oral habit and it will occupy the mouth just as though you were still chewing tobacco. When you want it will be easier to give up the gum. Keep yourself occupied or engaged with interesting activities during the times when it is most tempting. Keep the company of non-users for some time i.e. at least for the first 21 days. Above all announce it to everyone that you have quit consuming Hans. You must persevere with the best support until you defeat this addiction. Counseling is very useful in the initial stages and when temptations are at their highest.

You need to let go of certain things, and not take everything too personally. As far as overthinking is concerned, try to relax yourself through some breathing exercises. Whenever, you start overthinking take 6 - 10 deep, slow breaths per minute for 10 minutes each day. When we overthink, everyone around us sounds harsh in their words and less sensitive toward our needs, however that is just the result of thinking too much. Just relax, breathe and let go off certain things and you will be fine.
