Dear lybrate user it must be difficult and stressful situation for you. But don't you think marriage requires giving support love and care to your partner irrespective of how troublesome are the situations. You as a husband need to be very patient and sensitive towards your wife. Express your love to her by spending time with her, giving her space to express her emotions too. Try to talk to the doctor with whom your taking the thyroid treatment for your wife. May be a little counselling from him / her would help. Hope I could help you in some way.

I just broke up with my fiancee who also happens to be my business partner. We were living in. Still have to see him everyday after he coldly walked out on me (rather asked me to move out of my house as his parents were living with us). His issues with me were blown out of proportion by his parents resulting in a bad break up. I hv quit my start up with him. Am job hunting. I'm 29 and i'm scared I won't find a good life partner now. I'm depressed. I get anxiety attacks.

Have self respect, this person doesn't deserve you, also you are fortunate that you didn't marry him, and you got timely reminder. Just relax and move on in life, throw them out of your house and don't give them your house. Don't bow down to his dictates, and understand what would have been the situation if you married him. Be quick, relax you will find good partner and man of your life. If you cant handle yourself meet an expert marriage and relationship coach. For further assistance you can concern me privately.

Dear lybrate-user. Thanks for the question. I can understand. Please do not panic. Possessiveness and doubting nature is common. If you start worrying about it, it may worsen and could become Obsessive compulsive disorder or obsessive compulsive personality. Do not worry about it and if you come and meet me personally, I could help you with it for a complete cure. Take care.

Hi, see in order to concentrate on studies you have to first remove the stress that you are undergoing and thats very simple. Start with yoga exercises. Do anulom vilom, kapalbhati and meditation for 1/2 an hour. Make a habit. And see your stress runs away and concentration increases. Take following homoeopathic medicine *tablet tranquil (sbl) 4 tabs to be chewed 3times a day 1/2 an hour before meals. *tablet biochemic 1 4tabs to be chewed 2 times a day 1/2 an hour after meals for 1month and let me know.

Hi lybrate-user, Try the following tips. You have to feel confident and content in yourself to be able to overcome the stress. You are young you will soon form many more meaningful relationships. 1. Break free: The tendency to go back and beg your erstwhile partner to take you back will be overwhelming, but remember that it’s just not worth it if you do so. They broke up with you for a reason, so you must protect yourself from further hurt by staying away from them and breaking free completely. 2. Understand yourself: You will go through periods of intense sadness, anger and denial, and these emotions will make you act out of character; but if you are aware of your Emotions and understand them, it’s easier to control them and prevent them from making you do things you will later regret. 3. Stay busy: The panacea for a broken heart is a busy mind and a tired body; so throw yourself into work even though you don’t really feel like working, and focus all your energy into your professional life. The success you achieve will make you feel much better about yourself, and it signifies the beginning of the healing process – it inspires you to concentrate on work and forget the breakup you’ve just been through. 4. Talk to someone: Crying and talking about emotional pain are the most cathartic ways to get rid of the heavy feeling that plagues your insides, so don’t hold back your tears or zip your lips about your breakup. Call a close friend who you are comfortable with, or talk to a professional psychologist to help you get through the feelings of depression and pain. 5. Don’t rush into another relationship: It’s very easy to succumb to the feeling of wanting to be loved and needed and get into another relationship too quickly and for the wrong Reasons when you’ve just broken up with a significant other. However, this could only make you feel worse, especially if you’re not comfortable with one-night stands or short-term flings. So take stock of your emotional state, and know what you want in the aftermath of a breakup. 6. Don’t seek refuge in alcohol or drugs: It’s tempting to want to drink yourself stupid and forget all that is happening around you, but alcohol makes you do idiotic things you’re bound to regret, and also gives you a major hangover which ruins the next day completely. Also, you run the risk of becoming an addict. If you find trouble sleeping, get an hour or so of exercise to tire you out, or seek out the company of friends and family and spend time with them – alcohol causes more problems than it brings solutions. 7. Take each day at a time: Time is the greatest healer, so don’t look too far ahead into the future and worry about what it holds. Instead, take each day as it comes, and find Something to look forward to in the short term – it could be a vacation you’ve planned with friends, a reunion with family, a promotion at work, or just dinner out at your favorite restaurant. Life is made up of these little moments that add to our wellbeing, not just the larger than life ones that cause both immense happiness and unbearable pain. It’s not easy to get over a broken heart, but if you believe that you are strong enough and keep yourself occupied, time does the rest.

I suffer from recurrent mental disorders that is more socially created than individual. There s a paucity to understand what a patient in question goes through when he is at the worst of the worst and the people surrounding him are almost ignorant or can see only the superficiality of the grave situation that he is in. So what should be done to make the people understand about them severity of the situation that is more socially created than the actual problem an individual might be facing?

Dear lybrate-user. I can understand. You are right. People around will not understand the mental trauma a person goes through and most of the time they ridicule this person. This is human mentality. This is because they are self-centered. But not everyone. There will be always one or two sympathetic people. In your case, I suggest counseling for them. But for you, you should learn to ignore the others because they are not concerned about you. I suggest cognitive therapy for you. Take care.

If they are stress related, the hair will grow back as soon as you reduce your stress and live healthily. If there are other issues that got triggered off because of this breakup, then you are well advised to look into them now. Sdtress is bad for anyone for that matter. If you take care of yourself physically, emotionally, mentally, socially and spiritually, stress can wish you goodbye, forever.

Dear lybrate-user, welcome to lybrate. You don't need any drug. Memory and mind power depends mainly on three aspects. Understanding, storage and recollection. To understand what you are studying, you must be able to be attentive or concentrate. Concentration is possible when you are interested in that subject. Creative way of learning can help you concentrate and understand easily. When you are able to understand and concentrate, it is stored within your brain. If you read more and more it will be store in long term memory. Third part is retrieval. Whenever you want to retrive what you learned and stored, your brain gets the request, searches the database and retrieves the information for you. The retrieval may prove to be difficult if you are anxious, stressed, worried or tired physically or mentally. Retrieval is more easy when you are relaxed and healthy. Brain needs nutrients to keep itself sharp. Fruits, vegetables and dry fruits provide much needed nutrients for your brain. Include at least one fruit in your daily diet. Physical exercises, entertainment, hobbies, relaxation, memory games like sudoku etc help keep your memory sharp and active.

From what you say, it is difficult to make a diagnosis of bipolar disorder. However, that can be a possibility. Only a detailed analysis of symptoms and mental status examination can provide a clear picture. Before that, we could just be rushing to a conclusion because there are several other conditions which may present with a fluctuating mood which include but are not limited to: emotionally unstable personality, soft bipolar disorders, psychoactive molecule influence, etc. Coming to recovery, it is not clear if he has not shown recovery under medications. If medications were given, there are several issues to be considered for an effective treatment including dosage, augmentation, psychopathology etc. The word recovery may not apply to such a chronic and relapsing condition. However, with proper treatment and follow ups, the number of episodes, severity etc can be considerably decreased. In fact there are thousands of individuals who are living normal lives with proper treatments. The most important step for you right now would be to consult a qualified psychiatrist and get a proper diagnosis. Wish you all the best.

Dear Lybrate user, Welcome to Lybrate. Tobacco is addictive. Cigarette also contains 4000+ carcinogenic chemicals other than nicotine. Nicotine and other chemicals can cause cancer of different types and areas. Throat cancer, mouth cancer, lung cancer, stomach cancer and brain problems can result. Over and above smoking may also increase the risk factor of heart attack and brain stroke. Please quit smoking. The best method is to leave it and continue with your will power. There are other methods like Nicotine Replacement therapy and pharmacotherapy combined. If you’re ready to stop smoking and willing to get the support you need, you can recover from nicotine addiction and abuse—no matter how bad the addiction or how powerless you feel. The first step in treating nicotine addiction is accepting that you have a problem. Confronting an addiction and accepting responsibility for your actions isn’t easy. But it’s a necessary step on the road to treatment and recovery. You should then consult a psychiatrist / psychologist who fill follow this treatment. 1. Detoxification using medicines. 2. Behavior modification with the help of therapies. 3. Counseling. 4. Medication to sustain and 5. Long term support. These given steps are essential for any addict to get effectively rid of smoking. Therefore, you need to stick to the treatment plan and cooperate with your psychiatrist / psychologist. Mind power building therapy, motivation therapy etc should help you doing so. Take care.

Sex Therapy - Best Way to Handle Sexual Problems

Over the last couple of decades, there has been a steady increase in the number of issues pertaining to sex. While there are a variety of reasons attributed to it including more exposure to sex through media forums, the changing lifestyle of people is said to be a bigger reason.

With people connected to their work all through the day and multitasking on the rise, work is never complete.  Even when retiring for the night, there are always things running about what next to do.  In cases where both couples are working, there is no match of timings either. That being the case, sex has taken a backseat, almost the last seat.

In addition, the altered Indian lifestyle also has led to greater exposure to sex leading to increased cases of abuse (family/friends circle), past unpleasant experiences, relationship failures, etc.  All these have changed the equations in relationships.

More and more couples are worried about a number of sexual issues, including:

Sex therapy is on the rise, and 90% of the therapy consists of getting the couples to have a frank, open discussion. As much as it is a private topic, the problem can only be solved when an open discussion happens, both with the doctor and with the partner.

Whether it is past abuse or erectile dysfunction, the first step is to acknowledge the problem and discuss about it. If you are not able to confide in your partner or a good friend, it is advisable to seek a therapist.

It is wise to pick a therapist who comes through referral. Some things to keep in mind are:

  1. Be open - Like any other counseling, sex therapy also involves a frank discussion with complete confidence in the person. The therapist will understand your concerns about anxiety or problem and help you how to communicate your desires and needs with your partner.
  2. It does not end with one discussion - Starting to work with a sex therapist is just the first step. It might take a while (a few months) to completely resolve the issue and identify the solution.
  3. Involve your partner - Though it is advisable to start talking alone with the therapist, after a couple of sessions, the partner may also be called in to see if there is something that needs to be worked upon.

Sex therapy can definitely help to resolve the above noted issues and improve sex life, which is very essential for a healthy body and relationship.
