We all are aware of the fact that our height increases up to a particular age and then it comes to a halt. Height increases up to the age of 18years in women and up to the age of 20 years in men. Increase in height is attributed to the production of growth hormone, called the hgh (human growth hormone), which is secreted by the pituitary gland called the master gland of our body.----------- it is rather difficult to increase height after reaching adulthood as the production of these hormones slowly stops. In most cases, the epiphyses of the long bones are fused as the last bits of cartilaginous tissue in the bones turn into solid hard bones. This prevents any further growth in longer bones. In your case also calcification of bones might have occured by now and there are no chance for any height increase---do not waste time and money on increasing your height or you can fall in wrong hands------

Dear Lybrate user, only dental treatment is suitable for toothache. Repeated and unnecessary use of pain killers and antibiotics for dental problems is not the solution. For emergency purpose, you may take any pain killer/paracetamol. Colgate came out with their pain-out gel a few months ago, You may keep it handy. The ultimate solution is to eliminate the cause of pain. Consult you local dentist and get a dental check up done.

First of all, I want to tell you to embrace your dark skin. Its beautiful and many people find it attractive these days! But if you really want to lighten your skin, there are lots of options you can try. Avoiding too much sun exposure is the best place to start. Typically, the skin darkens when exposed to sunlight because it produces a substance, called melanin, to protect itself from the harmful solar radiation. Melanin is the pigment that gives color to our hair, eyes, and skin. And the more melanin your skin makes, the darker your skin becomes. Its also great to use sunscreen every time you go outside. As far as lightening products, you can try creams and soaps that contain kojic acid, glutathione, aplha-arbutin, licorice extract, mulberry extract, and Vitamins C, E, and B3. You can also go for lightening creams containing hydroquinone, but make sure that the concentration does not exceed to 2%.Only use products that contain 4% hydroquinone if its prescribed by your dermatologist; and make sure to follow the instructions strictly as wrong use of these products can cause serious complications. If you wd like to go for a more natural approach, you can try lemons. Just get a piece of fresh lemon, squeeze the juice, dip a cotton ball into the juice, apply it on your face, then rinse off after 10-15 minutes. If you do not have a lemon, try potato. The procedure is almost the same. Peel the potato, cut it into small pieces, then apply the juice on areas you wish to lighten. Just keep in mind, though, that the effectiveness of the treatments mentioned depends largely on your skin problem and skin type. Some products and procedures may work, but some may not. Its best to consult your dermatologist to find out which of these options is best for your skin type.

Hi I am overweight by 15 kgs. I have pcod. My Tsh levels are normal. I want to desperately lose weight. I am essentially a rice eater. I have swapped white rice for brown rice. I replaced brown rice with millets and saw srastic weight drop. But I read ononline that millets have goitrogen that is not destroyed by cooking. Is it safe to eat millets daily? Can it affect Tsh levels? How if ten can I eat millets in a week?

Hi lybrate-user tips for weight loss eat fresh vegetables daily. Avoid having sugar completely. Eat whole wheat bread instead of white bread; avoid everything made from white flour and make whole wheat bread, chapattis and brown rice a way of life. Do not skip a meal and eat three meals a day. Drink plenty of water to eliminate the toxins from the system. Limit your fat intake to 2-3 teaspoons a day. Increase the fiber intake as it provides a sense of fullness and also prevents hunger pangs. Take antioxidants for protecting the body against the toxins released during weight loss. Exercise catalyzes your efforts to lose weight and even regular walking for thirty minutes can give you the benefits of an aerobics exercise. To improve the metabolism, try increasing the duration, frequency, intensity of your daily workout. Remember that maintaining the ideal weight is a lifetime commitment and not a short-term affair. Get your blood checked for CBC and follow up with reports and Few diet tips - Not to eat fried food items and Can eat All green vegetables, moong, chana,Dal, rice etc And to apply ghee over chappati and don’t apply oil over chappati And to drink milk mixed with turmeric powder twice a day And If possible eat eggs on alternate days And If possible in breakfast eat atleast one bajra ka rotla And Eat seasonal fruit and I will suggest you to take tablet Neurobion forte twice a day for a month.

Find any sign or symptom of diabetes with you out of these. 1) frequent urination. More than normal urges for urine (no. Of times) 2) excessive thirst. Feeling thirsty again and again 3) weight loss. 4) weakness. 5) increased hunger. 6) lack of interest. 7) slow healing of wound 8) burning or tingling sensation in hands or feet. If you observe any thing out of these happening with you get your fasting and post parandial blood sugar levels checked and inform.
