Hi, I am currently living in UK and my family is in India. My father has a cancer history of more than 18 years. The symptoms started showing up in 1996 and the doctor did not advise for a scan that time. Later, he was detected with a large cancerous tumor on his left kidney and the entire kidney was taken out. The doctors advised him not to take Cigarettes as he was a chain smoker but he continued taking it at a reduced quantity for 10 years post operation and later in Nov, 2012 he was detected with one metastatic cancer tumor in his bran and several small nodules in his lungs and supra renal gland. The doctors prescribed him to take steroids before operation and post operation has has gone through complete remission of cancer. All nodules melted away on its own. However, he started showing symptoms of gastric ulcer. He started feeling racing heart due to anemia and he had black tarry stool and black vomiting in the month of August 2014. He quickly recovered and he was stable. But, he started having spicy food after a month. The symptoms came back strongly last December. Within a month, he recovered again. However, the symptoms keep coming these days and he is loosing his weight. Sometimes, he will be alright and start gaining weight and after 4 weeks the symptoms will come back again. There were 3-4 recurrences within a span of 6 months. Please advise.

Metastatic kidney cancer is not curable and with added complications are there, but have you tried targeted therapy? just meet an oncologist and enquire about recent targeted therapies.

How To Know If You Are At Risk Of Anal Cancer?

MBBS, DNB ( General Surgery ), MNAMS - General Surgery

How To Know If You Are At Risk Of Anal Cancer?

Cancer, the name itself sends chills down the spine! But every time we hear someone has cancer, though we feel sorry for them, we never think it could happen to us. But even though the probability of it may not be high at all, a disease that is rare can still hit you like a bolt from the blue! This is exactly the case with anal cancer, which is a very rare form of cancer. But, since the rates of its incidence are rising, it is well worth learning a few things about it.

Who is at Risk?
While it is unlikely that a person will contract anal cancer over the course of his life, asking himself a few questions about it so as to assess the risk he or she is at makes sense. To start off, age is an important factor. If a person is somewhere between middle age and old age, there is a far greater risk of anal cancer than a person who is not.

A person can easily reduce the risk of contracting anal cancer quite dramatically by doing something which is quite simple: refraining from anal sexual activity. This goes a rather long way as it means that a person is at a much lower risk of contracting HIV or HPV. HPV is far more common and affects most adults in sexual contact with each other. That being said, it is usually the type 16 variant of HPV which is linked to anal cancer. In order to reduce the chance of this, making good use of condoms is a very good idea but this does not eliminate the risk of transmission of HPV.

Smoking a cigarette may be great for a person to obtain a little bit of mental peace, but it has a really disastrous effect on the prospects of developing anal cancer at the same time. The chemicals that the body takes in are as harmful as they affect so many body tissues. There are many reasons to quit smoking but the fact that smokers have an eight time higher risk of developing anal cancer is probably among the good ones!

If a person is suffering from low immunity, it is quite possible that he or she is at a higher risk of developing the cancer, at least on a relative basis. This is because the ability of the body to fight back is lower. A person is especially weak after an organ transplant has taken place and if a person has HIV it further increases his or her risk of developing anal cancer.

Now, cutting the risk of anal cancer also involves possibly getting an HPV vaccination. The doctor is the person to talk to regarding this! When the risk of anal cancer is anyway minimal, it makes sense to cut it even further, by following a fit and healthy lifestyle. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Gastroenterologist.

Don't get panic it is most probably either infection or benign breast disease. Is there any history of fever or trauma? you should go for ultrasound of breast and examination by a surgeon.

Sir, I am rahul Raj. I am 20 Yr old. Nd my mausi has blood cancer. What is the process of cure of these diseases.

MS ( General Surgery)
Oncologist, Mandsaur
Blood cancer treatment & therapy options Treatment for blood cancer depends on the type of cancer, your age, how fast the cancer is progressing, where the cancer has spread and other factors. Some common blood cancer treatments include: • Stem cell transplantation: A stem cell transplant infuses healthy blood-forming stem cells into the body. Stem cells can be collected from the bone marrow, circulating (peripheral) blood and umbilical cord blood. • Chemotherapy: Chemotherapy is the use of anticancer drugs designed to interfere with and halt the growth of cancer cells in the body. Chemotherapy for blood cancer sometimes consists of giving several drugs together in a set regimen. It may also be given before a stem cell transplant. • Radiation therapy: Radiation therapy may be used to destroy cancer cells or to relieve pain or discomfort. It may also be given before a stem cell transplant.

What is the cancer? How does it catches us and what is that do describe the answer?

DNB, MBBS
Oncologist, Faridabad
Cancer is abnormal uncontrolled proliferation or growth of cells. They start growing uncontrolled due to some faulty gene which may be genetic or hereditary or acquired by some carcinogens like tobacco alcohol pollution pesticides radiation exposure industrial affluent etc. When ever body immunity is low body's fighting capacity to any abnormalities become weak and abnormal cells start growing. One has to avoid known carcinogens, keep healthy by good diet rich in antioxidants, regular exercise etc are helpful.

Sir my girlfriend's breasts leaks fluid like something of light colour slightly sticking when touch. Neither she is breastfeeding nor pregnant, we enjoyed on 20/2/17 and when I squeeze her breasts something sticky fluid sticks my hand and when I kiss it tastes sweet. Later she informed me that fluid comes out when she squeeze her breasts both but in single little droplet. She have no tumour or burn or pain. Her menstrual period ends on 18/2/17. Pliz acknowledge the symptom. Is she suffering from breasts cancer? I fear sir.

Fellowship in Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endo-Surgeons, Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery, M.S. - Master of Surgery, MBBS
General Surgeon, Delhi
It is usually not breast cancer. There are many ducts in the breast. One of them may start secreting fluid due to various reasons. It should be investigated by a surgeon.

Hi I am 25 years old girl and I have a big lump in my right breast. It pain once in 10-15 days for 2-3 min automatically and than get painless also. Please suggest is this causing cancer? What are the chances and what should I need to do? It is in breast from last 3 years.

MBBS, MS - General Surgery
General Surgeon, Ghaziabad
Going by the history of lump, pain in breast and your age the chances of lump being a Benign lump (non cancer type) is more but there is no way to predict with surety that the lump is not of a cancer. Usual signs of a lump of cancer are - rapid increase in the size of the lump, skin getting fixed or adhering to the lump, presence of a hard lump, Irregular shape, lump not moving freely inside the breast. Presence of any lump in breast should be considered a warning sign and should be shown to a Surgeon as early as possible. Ideally a clinical examination by surgeon, an Ultrasound of breast and a Biopsy/FNAC from the breast lump will have more than 99% chance of identifying a Cancer lump.

I have a tumor or ball like structure near my right testicle. I don't know if it's a tumor or not. Can it be testicular cancer? And In my city there is no sexologist.

MS - General Surgery
Oncologist, Ludhiana
Swelling is in the Testis or close to testis. It will be better if you consult a general surgeon to rule out other swelling in this region like inguinal hernia, hydrocele etc.
