BHMS
Homeopath, Raebareli
Dear lybrate-user, blood tinge with sputum can be due to local cause even as in throat infection or too long coughing causing fragility and breakdown of capillaries and due to dust and pollutions it mingles with mucus resulting such nothing to worry continue with the medication and complete the course apart from it use a Homeopathic medicine Kalimur 3X twice for a weeks time and Pulsatilla 200 on alternate days for speedy recovery for 5 days. Consult back for further treatment.

I am 23 years old male I am a tuberculosis patient I am taking r cinex 750 combutol 800 pyziramide 1500 benadon since 6 months due to gastritis I hospitalized and doctor stop my r cinex for 3 days now I am worried about mdr tb.

DNB(Respiratory Diseases), MBBS
Pulmonologist, Jabalpur
If you have already taken 6 months of these medicines you have taken an adequate duration. Further doses is sometimes given by doctor so that pt does not get tb again in future, so if you have taken 6 months medicines correctly then no need to fear about developing mdr tb and can continue your treatment, till completion with checking in between with sputum tests for monitoring the condition of the disease.

I have sinusitis problem due to which I always have lots of cough which results in nose blockage, headaches, listening problem due to jammed ear tubes because of cough. This is everyday problem in all the seasons of the year. Is there any permanent remedy to cure this or at least to reduce it?

There are several things you can do to prevent a cold. they are all easy. -Always wash your hands after coughing or sneezing into your hands, blowing your nose, after touching someone who is sick, or when using public restrooms or telephones. -Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough. -Get plenty of rest/sleep.staying at home will keep you from spreading germs.Avoid people who have a cold or cold symptoms. -Drink plenty of fluids(veg/tomato soups, dal water/coconut water/herbal tea etc), and eat nutritious food(like sprouts/boiled eggs without yolk with milk). Avoid foods or drinks with caffeine which can impair your sleep -Treatment:A cold usually lasts for a week or two. Unless you develop complications, you shouldn't need medical treatment. -Complications like infections of the ears, throat, sinuses or lungs must be treated with antibiotics. -Gargle to keep from getting a sore throat. -Use saline nasal sprays or nasal irrigation. -Tablet nasorest-p once/twice daily may ease breathing. -Do steam inhalation once or twice daily -Cough- For dry cough.Take syrup Alex-D for a dry cough.(1 tsp thrice daily) -Productive cough:it brings up mucus from behind the throat or the lungs. These coughs should not be suppressed to the point that they no longer bring up mucus. Use syrup Alex. -Get chest xray done if cough lasts for more than a week and consult doctor immediately. -Head and body aches- take tablet Dolo-650 mg for fever once or twice daily.

I have a chronic head ache problem. It happening from last 5-6 yrs. Happens generally after 2-3 hrs of bath or when I walk around under the sun for 10-15 mins and come back home, and its also happens when I drink something cold or stay in ac rooms for 10-15 mins. I had done few test also as per the doctors whom I consulted here. 1) pns sinus 2) ct of scan of brain But as per them nothing found there. I last consulted with an ent specialist about 6-months back he told me that it's one kind of migraine which occurs due to stress. And given me a medicine after dinner. I felt good after taking that for 3 months and then he told me to stop the medicine and check whether the problem of head pain come again or not. Few days its didn't happened. But from last 2 months same thing happening again. Please help me so that I can get rid of this sever pain. It's start from right or left and gradually cover whole head. Avoid triggers. If certain foods or odors seem to have triggered your migraines in the past, avoid them. Reduce your caffeine and alcohol intake and avoid tobacco. In general, establish a daily routine with regular sleep patterns and regular meals. In addition, try to control stress. Exercise regularly. Regular aerobic exercise reduces tension and can help prevent migraines. If your doctor agrees, choose any aerobic exercise you enjoy, including walking, swimming and cycling. Warm up slowly, however, because sudden, intense exercise can cause headaches. Obesity is also thought to be a factor in migraine headaches, and regular exercise can help you maintain a healthy weight or lose weight.

On night of 7-April-2016, I had taken Combiflam tablet along with dinner as I was having sever headache. After around 1 hour, I started having severe pain and burning sensation in chest area. Also, I started feeling difficulty in breathing. I immediately rushed to emergency room at a leading hospital. They did ECG and Troponin I tests (both were normal according to duty doctor) and then gave me Pantoprazole injection. Next day, I started feeling discomfort again after taking breakfast, so I went to emergency room of another major hospital. They did ECG, Troponin I, and 2D Echo, and then they also gave me Pantoprazole injection and sent me home. After that, I consulted a GP who advised me TMT and Endoscopy. Both were normal and he prescribed me Ganaton Total capsules. Since the problem didn't completely go away, I consulted another GP who told me it is Non-ulcer Dyspepsia triggered by Ibuprofen and advised me Cintodac capsules, Anxit Tablet. I started taking these medicines as per his advice and felt great relief. However, yesterday, I consumed some fried items and also had snacks containing gram flour. I again started feeling heaviness in chest, difficulty breathing and extreme nervousness. Again I went to emergency room and after ECG and Pantoprazole, they sent me home. I had never experienced this kind of discomfort earlier in my life. Though the doctors are telling its non-ulcer dyspepsia and that's causing all symptoms, I would like to know if any additional tests and required to rule out other types of problems (my TMT and Endoscopy reports were normal earlier, showing no problems with heart or stomach ulcers etc.) I usually suffer from lot of gas problems that don't result in burping and cause headaches. But this time, its creating lot of pain in chest area. I am 41 years old, Male.

Dear , if your tonsils are bothering you, you should get them removed. But first you should consult an ent surgeon and find out whether it's tonsils or some other cause.

I am suffering from tuberculosis moreover I am a casul smoker. Its that I am not able to control to smoke. So can I or can I not smoke once or twice a day besides undergoing the treatment.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
No you must stop smoking. Only by using strong will power and avoiding all situations where you feel like smoking, chewing tobacco or drinking or using drugs/ weed, avoiding friends who smoke and diverting mind by reading or chewing a gum, like NICORETTE and taking a walk when you crave for a smoke can all help. You can chew Nicorette gum which is nicotine replacement. There are medicines available. Which can be prescribed if asked personally Cigarette smoking is a leading preventable cause of mortality. It kills more than 60 lakh people worldwide every year. More than 50% of regular smokers would invariably die from tobacco-related illnesses which includes heart attack, cancer or asthmatic lung diseases. Best age to stop smoking is before 40.

Hi Dr. I am 31 years old female. One month before I lost my son during delivery as it was preterm labor and true knot. There is fibroids in posterior side equal to egg size my Dr. said I got preterm labor due to this egg size fibroid. Now she has given me medicine named fibristal 5 mg. Before starting to take this medicine just wanted to know whether this medicine can cure my egg size fibroids. please advice.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS

Hi Dr. I am 31 years old female. One month before I lost my son during delivery as it was preterm labor and true knot...
The egg size fibroid will become much smaller as your uterus size normalises to pre-pregnancy level. Fibristal has temporary effect only, and fibroid size will start increasing if it is stopped. The main problem is that fibristal may prevent next pregnancy from coming. You have to stop it after 3-6 months, do ultrasound for fibroid size and location. If situated towards the outside of uterus it may not affect the pregnancy. If located towards the inside, and size 2 cm or more, it should be removed by laparoscopy or hysteroscopy before trying for pregnancy again. True knots have nothing to do with fibroids.

I am upset of this. Can x ray harm the baby? can t. B. Is dangerous for pregnency? pleas suggest.

Treated tb is not dangerous for pregnancy, even untreated tb is not. Chest xray can not lead to damage because the dose provided is very low. There are some people who don't know the recent advances in gynaecology, so they advice abortion, nothing else. Many of my patients had chest x ray in pregnancy and are doing well. And whether the xray caused any damage, we can determine it by some simple tests. Please don't abort a baby only because of uncertainty, second time you may not get pregnancy at all.

History and results suggest some kind of acute chest infection. Recurrent infections are common as same chest infection can be caused by different viruses. As children lack immunity, they have infections more commonly than adults till the immune system is ready. If the previous infection cleared completely before the second infection, it is most likely a viral infection. It is better to consult a pediatrician to listen to chest.

Better to screen for bronchitis or asthma --> wait for 3 more days and then also doesn't reduce then get" peak flow metry" done at pediatrician's clinic and know the response of bronchodilator medicines in form of nebulisation, I think it would cure the problem. But has to assessed by a certified pediatrician not by your own.
