I always feel thirsty despite drinking approximately 10 bottles of water a day and 5 bottles per night. My lips also remain dry. Moreover, I get a sore throat after eating chocolates, dry fruits, mangoes, or any such thing which increases body temperature. And to cure my throat I need to drink heavy loads of water. Also I get mucus whenever I eat hot food and it's usually present at the morning also. My digestion is not so good and also I eat a lot of junk food. But despite eating this much junk food, my sodium, blood pressure, sugar all are normal. I consulted a few doctors and they told me "everything is normal" and "drink as much water as you can" but they don't understand that it still doesn't quench my thirst. One of the doctors gave me OCD/Depression and sugar medicine after I forced him to because I wanted a solution, but I'm not taking them. Physically I'm a very fit person and I run daily and do Please suggest me for sore throat.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a common mental health problem. Symptoms typically include recurring thoughts and repetitive actions in response to the recurring thoughts. A common example is recurring thoughts about germs and dirt, with a need to wash your hands repeatedly to "clean off the germs" However, there are many other examples like sexual thoughts, counting, checking, orderliness, etc. The usual treatments are cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant medicine, or both. Treatment often works well to reduce the symptoms and distress of OCD greatly. All the best.

You may take some painkiller like combiflam etc. And consult a good ENT specialist. The infection could get complicated and affect your hearing.

Hello lybrate-user, Non surgical rhinoplasty offers a good options initially for only few conditions like dorsal augmentation and hump correction. But the effects of fillers last 9 month to a year and will need to be repeated. Alternatively surgical rhinoplasty offers a permanent solution ,is safe and a day care procedure. A better assessment is possible if you could send your picture privately.

Hi, My daughter aged 5 years has been advised an adenoidectomy. She is a mouth breather, gets ear infections whenever she gets a cold which she picks up from school. There is no other complication. But there is definite improvement - the snoring has stopped etc. I am very hesitant to have her get this operation. Is there some way to avoid this operation?

DNB (ENT), MBBS, MNAMS - Otorhinolaryngology
ENT Specialist, Gurgaon
Enlarged adenoids cause mouth breathing in children mainly in the age-group of 4 to 8 years. Long term mouth breathing can lead to lot of problems for the child like Dental mal-occlusion & change in shape of bones of face during the growing age. Your daughter requires medical management & if not responding then surgery should be planned to prevent Dental & facial distortion.

• Tonsillitis-Swelling of tonsils At the back of your throat, two masses of tissue called tonsils act as filters, trapping germs that could otherwise enter your airways and cause infection. They also produce antibodies to fight infection. But sometimes the tonsils themselves become infected. Overwhelmed by bacteria or viruses, they swell and become inflamed, a condition known as tonsillitis. Tonsillitis is common, especially in children. The condition can occur occasionally or recur frequently. The main symptoms of tonsillitis are inflammation and swelling of the tonsils, sometimes severe enough to block the airways. Other symptoms include: • Throat pain or tenderness • Redness of the tonsils • A white or yellow coating on the tonsils • Painful blisters or ulcers on the throat • Hoarseness or loss of voice • Headache • Loss of appetite • Ear pain • Difficulty swallowing or breathing through the mouth • Swollen glands in the neck or jaw area • Fever, chills • Bad breath Homoeopathy has good treatment without causing adverse effects. Take homoeopathic medicine Belladonna 200 thrice daily morning, afternoon and evening and give feedback after 6 days. For further treatment, consult privately Rs 149/-

Kindly go for a routine medical check up and take the doctors opinion after the formal check up. An ENT opinion will also help in the diagnosis. Please revert with the details. You can also start Homeopathy as it is safe and effective. You can contact me if interested.

I have using nasal drops over 5 years. How to avoid these drops and how maintain my normal breath.

DNB (ENT)

If you have stuffy nose, not putting on drops. Then you probably have rhinitis medicamentosa. Best treatment is reducing frequency of putting drops. If no relief then surgical option is considered (which is also very safe)

It can be due to swelling and impaction of wax due to water entry Or due to fungal infection (otomycosis) in the ear. That can only be diagnosed after examining the ear.
