Hi, from what I understand you are having halitosis (bad breath). There are various reasons for bad breath. To name a few, diabetes, hormonal changes, gingivitis. Since you also complain of bleeding from your gums, you may be having gingivitis. You should immediately see a dentist to get evaluated clinically and probably get scaling (cleaning) done. You can approach us for the same.

Respected, I always get stucjk mouth ulcers. It really pains alot, due to which I cannot eat food properly an loosing weight. Please provide some useful tips to get rid of these mouth ulcers ?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

Hi hearing your complain I think you have certain vitamin deficiencies in your body if you are suffering from repeated ulcers. Ulcers are of many types 1 Stress ulcer: which occurs repeatedly at a span of 7 days and main reason is stress and work load in your life. 2 traumatic ulcer: it occurs due to biting on cheek or toungue accidently during eating these ulcers are not repititive 3 non- healing ulcer: it occurs because of some habits like smoking, chewing tobacco. Looking at your complain I think you are suffering from stress ulcers. Treatment: you can take multivitamin tablets like tab b-folcin plus once a day for 30 days, mucopain gel to be applied on the ulcers twice for 10 days, avoid hot and spicy food for some days. I hope my advice would be helpin you thank you

You need to get it checked from dentist for any cavities in teeth. For temporary relief of pain you can take an analgesic that best suits you.

The type of treatment you have for toothache /sensitivity/swelling will depend on the cause of the pain, so your dentist will examine your mouth and may carry out an X-ray to try to identify the problem. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by tooth decay, your dentist will remove the decayed area and replace it with a filling. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by a loose or broken filling, the filling will be taken out, any decay will be removed and a new filling put in place. •If the pulp inside your tooth is infected, you may need root canal treatment. This procedure involves removing the infected pulp and then inserting a special type of filling to seal the tooth and prevent re-infection. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling can't be treated using these methods, or if your tooth is impacted (wedged between another tooth and your jaw), it may need to be removed.

Particularly black teeth without pain may be because of trauma/ accident back in time to that particular tooth. That can be corrected with root canal treatment.

Well take few leaves of guava and boiled it with water. Rinse your mouth with that water. And you must need to consult with a dentist as this may be due to cavities.

Hi. Brushing 5- 10 times will not solve problem rather it might cause tooth abraison. Their are two types of tooth discoloration. Internal and external. If it is internal than get scaling and polishing of your teeth done, but if it is internal then only solution is tooth bleaching.

I got out sliva from mouth when I'm sleeping. Iski kya wjh Ho skti hai aur aisa rokne K liye mujhe kya Karna chahiye?

MDS, BDS
Dentist, Kolkata
Hello Lybrate user, trickling of saliva from our mouth when in sleep is because of mouth breathing. Mouth breathing can be either habitual or due to some obstruction (like adenoids or deviated nasal septum). In order to rule out this obstruction you should visit an ENT doctor first and the doctor will tell you if their is obstruction or not and how to remove it. If the mouth breathing is habitual then you can wear a device silensor SL which will keep your mouth closed during sleep or start by using micro pore tape to close your lips before going to sleep. Hope this helps.

Yes, it is definitely possible to treat such conditions, you have to get proper treatment for your gums with supportive medical cover and maintain your oral hygiene and once the gums are healthy the teeth will gain strength.

In the start of this year, I suddenly developed white scars inside my oral cavity which burn extremely in contact with spicy food. It was diagnosed as Oral Lichen Planus. Tests done showed I had a auto-immune problem. The doctor has given me a tablet which he said is a steroid and have to rinse it only and then apply Kenacort Gel. There is improvement but it still burns like hell when I eat food. My question is, is it true this is incurable and I am stuck with this for life? Is this the right kind of treatment or is there any other better form of treating this? Why did I get this? If incurable, can I do something to eat food peacefully?

Dear lybrate-user you r worry is quite genuine ,as if it is diagnose as lichen planus ,it takes long time to go .take treatment and get tests done to confirm diagnosis. Once confirmed. The most common signs are white patches on the lining of your mouth (usually your cheeks, tongue and gums). These don't usually hurt, but sometimes painful as in your case ,you may find it painful to eat hot or spicy foods. As the cause is usually not known it is impossible to stop oral lichen planus happening. Precautions don't smoke don't drink large amounts of alcohol do eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. Whether you have oral lichen planus or not, you should clean your teeth last thing at night and at least one other time during the day with a fluoride toothpaste. You should also have your teeth and gums checked regularly by a dentist so that any changes in the lining of your mouth can easily be spotted. Usually oral lichen planus only needs to be treated when there are painful symptoms. Sometimes patients with white patches that are not painful complain of a slight roughness of the lining of the mouth. But this usually does not need any treatment. When oral lichen planus does need treating, it is usually done by putting a corticosteroid cream on the area. Some areas may need other treatments, such as immunosuppressants applied to the area. Very rarely you might need to take a corticosteroid or some other, similar, tablets. Follow any advice your dental surgeon give you. This may include avoiding things that make the condition worse, such as spicy foods and things you may be allergic to. Usually oral lichen planus never goes away. Patients will usually continue to have white patches on the lining of the mouth. Treatment will lessen the pain, although it is not usually possible to tell beforehand when the condition will become painful. Therefore have patience and take regular treatment and you will be fine.
