My father is suffering the silent heart attack in right coronary artery with one block. His age is 45 years and does not take alcohol, smoking, and other thing but one day he got low BP with sweat and now BP, cholesterol and sugar are normal. They suggest our for PCI-RCA. So what should we do to cure it.

PGD Maternal Child Health, MBBS

Right coronary is the dominant artery in majority of people. It all depends upon the extent of block in RCA which will decide the exact line. If the block is at the osteum then angioplasty must be done.

You do not need to worry much about it. Maintain healthy lifestyle which means doing regular physical exercise, morning walk for at least 30 mins for at least 4 days a week. You can join gym also. Avoid stress. While having meal, restrict amount of carbohydrates (rice, sugar, mangoes, banana) and fat (oils, butter, mutton) and take plenty of green leafy vegetables. Do check your blood pressure after 2 months. Wish you good health.

I am feeling depressed due to lost my husband please help me, it's about 10 months and my husband suddenly due to acute heart attack.

Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, MBBS
General Physician, Delhi
I feel sad for you, sudden loss of life partner is always more difficult to bear. Hope both of you have fulfilled your duties like education of children ans settled them as individuals, if not you will have to complete this responsibility as a single parent now. Time is a great healer and within 10 months, you must have sorted out the basics like finance and a secure shelter. Time is a great healer, if you have support of your family, you can come out of the shock and start'living' again. If there is no family support, be your own help, keep busy with work, education and skills you have, share with others, besides earning some money, you will develop self confidence plus a will to live. But no drugs or tranquillisers, even for temporary relief to fall asleep. Take care of your basic health by eating healthy, go for long walks as they are the basic exercise cum meditation. Good luck.

My chest keeps paining suddenly sometimes, if I drink some water or eat some food my chest keeps paining a lot, what should I do?

MBBS, DNB (General Medicine)
Endocrinologist, Delhi
Hello lybrate-user, the onset of pain with intake of any food whether liquid or solid- points towards gastritis as the first possibility. When there is hyperacidity then with the intake of any kind of food material which causes production of acid in the stomach lead to acute pain. In this kind of a situation it is better to start taking some anti-acidity medicines so that you can save yourself from the development of peptic ulcer later in your life. Currently it is also possible that you are suffering from erosive gastritis in which you have small erosions in the stomach which pain due to food or even water. You should not take this symptom lightly and try to make some lifestyle changes as well. For example you should cut down on spicy food, processed food, oily food, hot coffee, tea etc. Regards.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
An albumin test checks urine for a protein called albumin. Albumin is normally found in the blood and filtered by the kidneys. When the kidneys camera. Gif are working as they should, there may be a very small amount of albumin in the urine. But when the kidneys are damaged, abnormal amounts of albumin leak into the urine. This is called albuminuria. If the amount of albumin is very small, but still abnormal, it is called microalbuminuria. This is what you said as micral test. You can ask privately for personal guidance. Albuminuria is most often caused by kidney damage from diabetes. But many other conditions can lead to kidney damage. These include high blood pressure, heart failure, cirrhosis, and lupus. If early kidney damage is not treated, larger amounts of albumin may leak into the urine. When the kidneys spill albumin, it can mean serious kidney damage is present. This can lead to chronic kidney disease.

Diet: it is always important to watch your diet. You are what you eat. Eat what your body needs, reduce refined foods, processed foods and increase the amount of whole grains and fruits and vegetables. Eating small frequent meals goes a long way. Reduce intake of saturated fats; include more lean meats. Choose grilling and steaming over frying and roasting. Recommended foods - Healthy carbohydrates, Fiber-rich foods, Heart-healthy fish and Good fats. Foods to avoid - Saturated fats, Trans fats, Cholesterol and Sodium Exercise: Every week, make sure about 2 hours is dedicated to physical activity. This could include any exercise of your choice, brisk walking, swimming, cycling, aerobics, hiking, jogging, skipping, gymnastics, or playing games like football or basketball. While in most cases, the person can do these on their own, in some people, supervision may be required. Watch your weight: controlling weight to a desirable level of BMI of 18 and 23 is very important. Obesity is one of the predisposing factors for diabetes heart diseases, and reducing weight controls the onset of diabetes and helps the progression of symptoms in diabetics. Smoking: Another risk factor for diabetes onset, palpitation, sleeplessness.Quitting is the best option. If not feasible, reducing smoking and gradually quitting should be aimed at. Not just diabetes, the effects on overall health will be evident almost immediately after quitting. Stress management: there is no getting away from stress. Everybody has their stresses but the trick is to manage it well. Whether it is music or meditation or medication or counselling, make sure stress levels are managed. This also helps prevent complications like heart disease and stroke and promotes well-being.

There is evidence that certain dietary supplements and vitamins can help with certain types of pain. Fish oil is often used to reduce pain associated with swelling. Topical capsaicin, derived from chili peppers, may help with arthritis, diabetic nerve pain, and other conditions. There's evidence that glucosamine can help relieve moderate to severe pain from osteoarthritis in the knee. Do reply back for private consultation. And detailed treatment plan.

I am man 40 year old. In Report showing bad cholesterol. Daily In morning before breakfast I am taking 1 kali garlic. Can you suggest is it gud for health or not. If it is gud then how much time I have to continue?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hi, Yes, taking 1 clove of garlic daily controls your bad cholesterol. Soak 1 clove of garlic overnight, have it after breakfast (discard the water in which it was soaked). You can have it for 2 weeks first, get your cholesterol checked. Along with this, follow the management part also. High blood cholesterol is treated with lifestyle changes and medicines. There are few risk factors: Cigarette smoking High blood pressure (140/90 mmHg or higher), or you’re on medicine to treat high blood pressure Low high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol (less than 40 mg/dL) Family history of early heart disease (heart disease in father or brother before age 55; heart disease in mother or sister before age 65) Age (men 45 years or older; women 55 years or older) Food to be avoided: -Saturated fat which is found in some meats, dairy products, chocolate, baked goods, and deep-fried and processed foods. -You also should try to limit the amount of sodium (salt) that you eat. -Try to limit drinks with alcohol. Too much alcohol will raise your blood pressure and triglyceride level. Food to be taken: -Whole-grain cereals such as oatmeal and oat bran -Fruits such as apples, bananas, oranges, pears, and prunes -Legumes such as kidney beans, lentils, chick peas, black-eyed peas, and lima beans -A diet rich in fruits and vegetables can increase important cholesterol-lowering compounds in your diet. -A healthy diet also includes some types of fish, such as salmon, tuna (canned or fresh), and mackerel. These fish are a good source of omega-3 fatty acids. These acids may help protect the heart from blood clots and inflammation and reduce the risk of heart attack. Try to have about two fish meals every week. If you’re overweight or obese, losing weight can help lower LDL cholesterol. Routine physical activity can lower LDL cholesterol and triglycerides and raise your HDL cholesterol level.
