Does our cardiac muscle normally go into anaerobic respiration as it only does aerobic respiration please explain.
Respiration involves breathing in fresh air having oxygen, to help our bodies function, and breathing out carbon dioxide to be taken by plants as one of the foods besides water and sunshine. Heart muscles are part of body, when muscle takes in oxygen, it is aerobic, when muscle gives back carbon dioxide it is anerobic.

Sleep for Healthy Heart

Good quality of sleep decreases heart rate and blood pressure thus decreasing work of heart lack of sleep keeps the heart rate and blood pressure elevated.both are linked to increased incidence of heart disease. Lack of sleep increases insulin resistance and the risk of type 2 diabetes Mellitus and also increases C-reactive protein a protein associated with inflammation.

Both diabetes and C-reactive protein are associated with higher incidence of coronary artery disease.

high cholesterol can cause atherosclerotic heart disease or narrowed coronary arteries in the heart can cause the symptoms of angina, when theheart muscle is not provided with enough oxygen to function. Decreased blood supply to the brain may be due to narrowed small arteries in the brain or because the larger carotidarteries in the neck may become blocked. This can result in a transient ischmic attack or stroke. Peripheral artery disease describes gradual narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs. During exercise , if the legs do not get enough blood supply, they can develop pain , called claudication . Other arteries in the body may also be affected by plaque buildup causing them to narrow, including the mesenteric arteries to the intestine and the renal arteries to the kidney. Avoid fast foods, oily foods, junk foods, alcohol, smoking, fatty foods, non-veg.,avoid stress, take green veg., whole grain. Take anti cholesterol medicines .

My grandfather is 79 years old and has been diagnosed with coronary heart disease with multiple blocked arteries. He has been recommended a bypass surgery. To put on record he is also suffering from diabetes. Considering the Age his condition and other ailments is it safe to go for a surgery? What are the other options?

FRCSCTh, FRCS, MS - General Surgery, MBBS

If this symptoms are controlled on medications and he does not get chest pain or heaviness while carrying out his daily routine activities, he does not need the operation. At his age, bypass operation is purely performed when medications are not helping.

When heart attack came if we do not want again this action then what should we do.

Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, MBBS
General Physician, Delhi
When heart attack came if we do not want again this action then what should we do.
Prevention of a heart attack before or after a heart attack- no bad fats, only good fats like a spoon of pure ghee/butter + a katori of assorted nuts to give healthy fats and proteins. No smoking/exposure to pollution. Lead a disciplined lifesyle with minimum negative tensions. Positive stress is good as it brings along good results. Loneliness is worse than bad fats. Keep busy in socially productive activities. Exercise regularly according to tolerance. Eat lots of seasonal vegetables and fruits. Reduce salt to bare minimum, avoid packaged foods as they have high salt content as preservative. Take more potassium like citrus fruits, oranges, lemons, amla, banana. You are only 24, as a social service pass on the tips of healthy living with as many people as you can get blood sugar test & total lipid profile done as a routine.
