Hello Doctor, I am 32 years old and recently when I had checked my lipid profile, major of my test results came very high, say double the normal range. Here are my lab results, Cholesterol= 231 Triglyceride= 275 HDL= 42 LDL=159 VLDL-HDLCholesterol=5.5 According to the results what are the steps that I should take at the earliest, as my BMI shows an obese state! What are the Do's & Do not's? Thankyou.

1) Start diet change.. Take a detailed diet consult for a diet chart. 2) Start exercising begin gradually and increase to 45 mins of daily brisk walking. 3) QUit smoking. Decrease your alcohol intake. 4) repeat levels after 6 weeks of these precautions, if still high, u may need medication.

Take salt restricted diet. Fried salt restriction should be 1800 mg-2750 mg per day. Do not take added salt because most of your vegetables contain sodium already in it. Avoid mustard oil completely. Take sunflower or rice bran oil daily. Avoid red meat and big fishes completely.

I caught cold last night and since then I have been having severe pain in the left part of my chest. What should I do.
There are several things you can do to prevent a cold. they are all easy. -Always wash your hands after coughing or sneezing into your hands, blowing your nose, after touching someone who is sick, or when using public restrooms or telephones. -Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough. -Get plenty of rest/sleep.staying at home will keep you from spreading germs.Avoid people who have a cold or cold symptoms. -Drink plenty of fluids(veg/tomato soups,dal water/coconut water/herbal tea etc), and eat nutritious food(like sprouts/boiled eggs without yolk with milk). Avoid foods or drinks with caffeine which can impair your sleep -Treatment:A cold usually lasts for a week or two. Unless you develop complications, you shouldn't need medical treatment. -Complications like infections of the ears, throat, sinuses or lungs must be treated with antibiotics. -Gargle to keep from getting a sore throat. -Use saline nasal sprays or nasal irrigation. -Tablet nasorest-p once/twice daily may ease breathing. -Do steam inhalation once or twice daily

Dear , there is no need of angiography. I would recommend you to first get a tmt test done. Then there is no need for angiography. If tmt is abnormal, then send me the report, I would advise you. Warm regards

Hi, Take Rauvolfia 1x, 2 tabs daily morning empty stomach. Drink plenty of liquids and cut down your fat, salt and sugar intake. go for a morning walk daily at least for 30 minutes. Take a sound sleep and try to avoid anger. Revert after 15 days with feedback.

Dear patient, as one grows old the arteries get thick because of fat deposition and aging. This is called atherosclerosis. Hence the bp rises in old age. In some old patients the bp control receptors and centre in the brain become weak and hence they get low bp. Some of them have weak heart with low ejection fraction. That can also cause low bp. Mr. lybrate-user, Looking at your weight and height it is clear that you have grade 1 obesity with a BMI of 30.5 kgs/M2. Your ideal body weight should be closer to 65 kgs, hence, carrying an extra weight of 25 kgs. This itself can be a major reason for various problems. Plus if uric acid is hige (above 7 mg/100 ml), then that to may contribute to joint pains. You may have avoid high purine containing foods like red meat, organ meats, certain fishes like sardines, salmon, scallops, herrings, haddock and mushrooms and mussels. Also alcohol and aerated drinks need to be avoided. Thanks.

Dear lybrateuser, -Do have a snack before jogging like a fruit such as an apple or banana or a glass of milk or yogurt so that the stomach doesn't remain empty & it also provides energy to the body while running -keep well hydrated, have a glass of water half an hour before & sip water while jogging -avoid tea, coffee before exercising as it may cause acidity.

How many vessels are blocked and what % ? to save all vessels start giving him a concoction made of pomegranade seeds , boil on low fire about 100 gms in 2 L water , drain and store in a bottle , drink half a cup every day. this does open up blood vessels , so does eating pomegranade as it is. Do write the extent of damages in the heart through tests done-angiography , Echo , ECG

Hello dear flushing palpitation high heart rate ghabhrahat are very common side effect of tablet harmoni f which you are taking for pcos message me the doses of all the medicines you are on if you are on higher doses we can shift you on lower doses and will gradually increase the dose when we are playing with hormones we need to know the doses as slight variation of doses can cuse problem thanks feel free to ask.

ECG i.e. elecro cardio gram shows electrical activity of the heart. If some is wrong with it like reduced blood supply(less of oxygen supply) it will show abnormal changes.

Mr. Lybrate-user, if you do not have diabetes then normal balanced diet like everyone else is fine for maintaining normal glucose and lipid levels. Precautions to be taken are: avoid too much of sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries, bakery items, sweetened aerated drinks (colas), fructose corn syrup containing products and highly processed food products. Refrain from alcohol and smoking. Exercise regularly for over 1 hour a day. Consume more of green leafy vegetables and salads. These measures help in maintaining lipids and blood glucose at desired level. Thanks.

First of all you should follow some basic thing 1. Avoid=hot and cold at time 2. Less the sugar as much as possible if you want to eat sweet take juggery which is black 3. Do not drink water after meal drink at the time of meal sip by sip up to 150 ml 4. Avoid late night sleep 5. Panchamrut parpati 1 tab before lunch and dinner 6. Audumbaravleha 2 tsp before lunch and dinner.

1. Eat well – Take a balanced Diet comprising of 45% carbohydrate, 30% protein and 25% protein, plenty of green leafy vegetables, fruits. Don’t over eat. Avoid junk, spicy, oily, high calorie, cholesterol rich diet, don’t skip your breakfast. Take warm, homemade food. Avoid food and drink from outside. Don’t skip or postpone your meal. Minimize consumption of refined grains like white rice, white bread, sugary or refined food. 2. Keep hydrated- Drink 2 liters /6-8 glasses of water daily 3. Do regular exercise for one hour daily like brisk walking/Jugging etc 4. Take adequate rest- 7-8 hours of sound sleep in the night is required to remain healthy 5. Avoid stress, anxiety, depression, agitation etc 6. Find time for relaxation and enjoyments with friends and family 7. Practice yoga, meditation and deep breathing exercise to calm your mind, control emotion, improve concentration and relieve stress 8. Develop hobby, Learn new skill 9. Go for detail Annual Health check up.
