I have undergone bye pass surgery 19 years back. In my recent periodical check up, tmt showed negative report. (*previous tests positive). I think is because of treafmill exercise and pransysmam and dhyanam. I would like to know, how long tm exercise is to be done. And shall I stop it when max hr is reached. 141 (90% of 154), my age being 66 years. I used to walk around 400 mts per week (35-40 kms per week). Any more suggestions please.

Too much cholesterol in the blood can lead to cardiovascular disease. What you eat has a direct impact on your cholesterol level. In fact, a diet rich in fiber and other cholesterol-lowering foods may help lower cholesterol as much as statin medication for some people. Working with a registered dietitian and doctor is the key to develop and maintain a successful health program to manage it. I will inform you on how to make diet, lifestyle changes, make you understand instructions for taking medication because it won't work if you don't take it as directed. Consult privately for a holistic dietary therapy to solve your problems.

This d3 capsule are meant to increase the levels of vitamin-d in your blood and are not meant for increasing/decreasing blood cholestrol so if you have high choletrol levels, it is nothing to do with this d3 capsule.

I am 27 years old I am suffering from high blood pressure and pain in my heart from 5 days. Please advise.
Dietary and other lifestyle changes can help you control and prevent high blood pressure. Eating a diet that is rich in whole grains, fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy products and skimps on saturated fat and cholesterol can lower your blood pressure by up to 14 mm hg. This eating plan is known as the dietary approaches to stop hypertension (dash) diet. Get plenty of potassium, which can help prevent and control high blood pressure. Eat less saturated fat and total fat. If you're overweight, losing even 3 kgs can lower your blood pressure. Strive for at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day. I being a both a registered dietitian (rd) and doctor have been successfully helping patients with their problems through a holistic approach using customized therapeutic diet and medications. I will also suggest home remedies. Do reply back for private consultation for rx.

What are the side effects of using fatty food items and what are the precautions we take to avoid heart attacks?

BAMS

What are the side effects of using fatty food items and what are the precautions we take to avoid heart attacks?
Fatty food items are high calorie diet. If they are not burnt up completely they get deposited in the body and leads to weight gain. The cholesterol levels in your blood will also increase and may give rise to blockages in the blood vessels which leads to heart attacks. Hence avoid oily food andtake regular daily exercises or go for a brisk walk. Consume plenty of high fibre diet.

How To Combat Lifestyle Diseases Like Diabetes And Hypertension?

MBBS, MD - General Medicine
General Physician, Gurgaon
How To Combat Lifestyle Diseases Like Diabetes And Hypertension?

There are some diseases which a person can get affected by due to no fault of theirs, at all. And then, there are lifestyle diseases for which a person is solely responsible. So what can be done in order to fight lifestyle diseases like hypertension and diabetes, which can cause more than a fair amount of trouble?

The most important thing to keep in mind when an individual is battling a lifestyle disease is the diet of the person. Even for someone who has not had the misfortune of being affected by such a disease, the general level of health has a lot to do with what is eaten and drunk. One of the first things one should do is to eliminate the unhealthy fats (also known as saturated fats and trans-fats) that may be a part of one’s diet and replace them with more healthy fats. For instance, chips and other oily food need to be replaced with unsaturated fats. Omega 3 fatty acids are also good for the body, if consumed in a reasonable quantity. One of the best sources for Omega 3 is fish.

One of the ways to determine if a person is at risk is by checking if the waist size of an individual is larger than what it should be. In the case of men, if the waist size is more than 40 inches, it means he may be at significant risk. On the other hand, when it comes to women, the waist size should not exceed 35 inches.

A lot of people do try and eat food which is more nutritious. While this is a very good and recommended practice, the pitfall comes by way of not keeping track of what is eaten. So, it is always a good idea to keep a food diary. Not only does this increase the chances of a person sticking to a beneficial diet, but also it provides a record, which can be checked to measure the intake of salt, sugar and fat. This is important since salt often becomes a major cause leading to lifestyle diseases. So, there should be no added salt to meals once they are prepared. Instead of using salt, herbs can add a wonderful flavour to your meals. Similarly, excess consumption of sugar or fat is also not beneficial in the long run.

Sir my father is suffering from high bp of 160/90 and he eats "starpress-xl 25" tablet since 5 years please tell me w...
It's just a matter of reviewing his case at frequent intervals and achieving an ideal BP ( or to at least bring it to 130/90 and not more than that. ) Keep checking the BP at different times ( morning and night ) and be in touch with the doctor. Let the doctor decide the treatment part. The other health parameters should also be checked along with some investigations. Your father should adapt a very healthy lifestyle ( including a healthy attitude - leading a stress-free life ). He can learn Yoga ( including pranayam and meditation) so that the quality of life improves which will reflect in his BP coming down naturally. You can also include homeopathy as it is very effective and yet gentle on all age groups and brings back a natural harmony in the mind-body complex.

Hi doctor I am shashi I have bp and sugar so What I do both medicine continue with out fail.
Mr. Lybrate-user, if you are suferring with diabetes and hypertension, then it is a must that drugs for the conditions are taken regularly without fail. Plus you have exercise regularly for at least 1 hour a day and take a restricted diet that gives exact amount of calories based on your ideal body weight, extent of daily exercise and sugar levels. For hypertension reduce you salt intake to about 2.3 g a day.
