You have to continue all of the above as suggested by your doctor. Cut down on extra salt which is present as a preservative in papads, namkeens, pickles, chutneys and other canned foods. Do not sprinkle salt on salads but do take seasonal fruits and vegetables , as much as you can digest ! Regarding generic medicines , I have no idea but through my experience I can suggest Ashok by Himalaya & to take fruits like pomegranate fresh or a concoction made with dry seeds boiled in water for sometime, drained and kept in fridge for a week, to be taken half a cup everyday.

How To Prevent A Heart Attack?

Multi Speciality
Cardiologist, Delhi
How To Prevent A Heart Attack?

The heart pumps blood to various body parts so they function smoothly. When this blood flow is impaired, then the other organs also cannot function to their full capacity. A heart attack is when there is sudden, abrupt, complete blockage of this blood flow from the heart.

Over the past few decades, a heart attack is one of the major causes of death. With changing lifestyles, it is spreading its presence, and people in younger age groups are seen to have heart attacks. There are various risk factors which put one at a higher risk, though. Identifying these and working on them is a great way to reduce the chances of developing a heart attack. Read on to know the most effective eight ways in which you can prolong the onset of heart disease as well as improve the overall quality of life.

  1. Diet: You are what you eat. It is as simple as that. Eating a diet that is heart healthy not only helps in preventing heart attacks but also improves overall health. Ensure the diet has variety, is rich in omega fatty acids, less of saturated fats, rich in fiber with fruits and vegetables, and whole grains.
  2. Move it: The sedentary lifestyle added with the poor dietary habits are the major culprits for increased incidence of heart attacks. Exercise in any form – walking, jogging, running, cycling, gymming – good for the heart. It not only keeps you in good shape but also keeps your heart healthy and active. The risk of heart attacks is greatly reduced.
  3. Stress: This is believed to be a major reason for increased incidence of heart attacks. Find a way to manage stress that works for you – meditation, music, travel, exercise, etc.
  4. Weight: Weight management is extremely important for a healthy heart and overall health. The difference between those who watch weight and others is very obvious if you just look at people. As soon as you are above your limits, work on reducing it.
  5. Smoking: The hazards of smoking are multiple, and upping the chances of heart disease is one of them. Reducing or quitting smoking can change your quality of life in multiple ways, and reducing the incidence of heart attacks is just one of them.
  6. Readings: In addition to weight, ensure your blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels are maintained well. These are vital readings and are closely connected. They not just help in preventing heart attacks but in multiple other chronic conditions including diabetes and cancer.
  7. Stay happy: With all these, stay happy, have a good social circle. This helps improve health quotient to a large extent.

So, while a heart attack is beginning to spread its wings, there are definitely ways to control it.

I have diabetics and cholesterol so how do I keep my self feet and healthy? What should I eat?

I have diabetics and cholesterol so how do I keep my self feet and healthy? What should I eat?
Mr. Lybrate-user, if you have confirmed diabetes then it is essential to start appropriate treatment with suitable drugs. Plus take a balanced but restricted diet, that gives exact calories based on ideal body weight, blood sugar levels and extent of daily exercise. As regards eating following points should be kept in mind: avoid sweets completely, avoid deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries, sweetened aerated drinks, high fat milk products and highly processed food products. Exercise daily for at least 1 hour, that will increase your fitness and give better sugar control. When in good control fasting sugar should be around 100 mg and pp 150 to 160 mg and hba1c% <7. If you achieve this you will definitely feel healthy and fit. With regards.

chest pain due to high cholesterol...Hello dear High triglycerides and cholesterol can cause atherosclerotic heart disease or narrowed coronary arteries in the heart can cause the symptoms of angina, when theheart muscle is not provided with enough oxygen to function. Decreased blood supply to the brain may be due to narrowed small arteries in the brain or because the larger carotidarteries in the neck may become blocked. This can result in a transient ischmic attack or stroke. Peripheral artery disease describes gradual narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs. During exercise , if the legs do not get enough blood supply, they can develop pain , called claudication . Other arteries in the body may also be affected by plaque buildup causing them to narrow, including the mesenteric arteries to the intestine and the renal arteries to the kidney. Change life style .do meditation, yoga, Go walk daily, do any one physically activity daily i.e.play any game., Avoid fast foods, oily foods, junk foods, alcohol, smoking, fatty foods, non-veg.,avoid stress, take plenty of water in day time. And 1 glass of water before bed at night. use flax oil, omega-3 fatty meal or cap., take .green veg., whole grain. Garlic,. Cod liver oil. Take anti cholesterol medicines .
