What You Need To Know About Silent Heart Attacks?

What You Need To Know About Silent Heart Attacks?

A heart attack does not always have obvious symptoms, such as pain in your chest, shortness of breath and cold sweats. In fact, a heart attack can actually happen without a person knowing it. This condition is known as a ‘silent heart attack’, medically known as ‘silent ischemia’, occurring due to the shortage of oxygen supply to the heart muscle. The causes of a silent heart attack are similar to that of a heart attack.

They include-

  1. Conditions like:
  2. Lack of exercise
  3. Age, usually above 65
  4. Consumption of tobacco or smoking
  5. High consumption of alcohol

A silent heart attack makes one more vulnerable to another heart attack that could be fatal.

Diagnosis: The only method to diagnose if you had a silent heart attack is through imaging tests, such as echocardiogram, electrocardiogram, Holter Monitoring or others. These tests can show certain changes which might be indicative of a heart attack. An analysis of one’s overall health and the symptoms can aid in deciding whether few more tests are required.

How would you prevent a silent heart attack?
1.    Get your cholesterol and blood pressure count tested regularly.
2.    Refrain from smoking.
3.    Get your VO2 max checked regularly.
4.    Live a healthy lifestyle: Refrain from smoking and excessive alcohol consumption; exercise daily, eat healthy.
5.    Control high blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes
6.    Be aware of your body and call on a doctor if you feel there’s anything which is bothering you.

In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Good to know that your echo & tmt are normal. Nebistar is a betablocker that reduces bp, relaxes and protects heart & also brings back pulse levels on lower and safer levels. 50-60 /minute is normal and safe too.

I have a pain at below the neck at the centre of the chest it will pain at morning only and I have smoking problem also.
Having a pain in your chest can be scary. It does not always mean that you are having a heart attack. There can be many other causes, including Other heart problems, such as angina Panic attacks Digestive problems, such as heartburn or esophagus disorders Sore muscles Lung diseases, such as pneumonia, pleurisy, or pulmonary embolism Costochondritis - an inflammation of joints in your chest Some of these problems can be serious. Get immediate medical care if you have chest pain that does not go away, crushing pain or pressure in the chest, or chest pain along with nausea, sweating, dizziness or shortness of breath. Treatment depends on the cause of the pain. To rule out cardiac issues. Get a ECG and 2D echocardiography done. If they are normal then get a TMT done.

Since valve leak is mild, you need to be under regular physician's review at least once in a month. Do not stop drugs on your own ---- dangerous. Always consult your. Doctor.

My stomach is so big and my cholestrol is so high please tell me how to control ?

MBBS, MD - Internal Medicine

My stomach is so big and my cholestrol is so high please tell me how to control ?
pl. do test lipid profile, take low fat diet, go for walk...Exercise can improve cholesterol. Moderate physical activity can help raise high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, the "good" cholesterol. With your doctor's OK, work up to at least 30 minutes of exercise a day. Adding physical activity, even in 10-minute intervals several times a day, can help you begin to lose weight. Just be sure that you can keep up the changes you decide to make. Consider: Taking a brisk daily walk during your lunch hour Riding your bike to work Swimming laps Playing a favorite sport To stay motivated, find an exercise buddy or join an exercise group. And remember, any activity is helpful. Even taking the stairs instead of the elevator or doing a few situps while watching television can make a difference.

But first start to take ayurvedic medicines and follow the diet chart regarding your blood pressure and then slowly decrease the dose of allopathic medicine and gradually you can come in ayurvedic medicines. Slowly. Slowly. But one thing ayurvedic medicines are very safe. There is no side effects. So it will good for your health. For more details, diet chart and medicine consult me.
