Psychosomatic Disorder - Only Homeopathy Cures

Homeopath, Ahmedabad
Psychosomatic Disorder - Only Homeopathy Cures

It is said that the mind controls the body. If the mind is healthy so will the body be. The condition of the mind is often reflected in bodily symptoms and conditions including illnesses.

The temptation in mostly to treat with heavy drugs that might offer temporary relief but have dangerous side effects and do long term harm.

Homeopathy tackles this issue considering safety and cure in a balanced manner to ensure recovery but without harmful side effects.

The concept of psychosomatic disorders has been in existence since the time of Sigmund Freud. The belief is that with the varied emotions that a person experiences, each disease manifests with a different set of symptoms in each person, implying that each person needs to be treated differently and not given the same disease-specific medication. This is where homeopathy plays a very strong role in psychosomatic disorders as it also believes in treating the person as a whole and not just the symptoms.

In homoeopathy, we base our prescription on what we call constitutional symptoms where we give lot of importance to the mental symptom as well as to the characteristic physical symptom. Hence every prescription from a Homoeopathic physician will surely include an element of psychosomatic angle. It is beyond the scope of this editorial to mention all the remedies of Materia Medica which has the scope for the treatment of psychosomatic disorders.

The homeopath always undertakes a thorough discussion with the patient to understand the accompanying symptoms in detail and then arrive at a customized treatment plan.

Some of the most common psychosomatic disorders include irritable bowel syndrome, migraine, GERD, ulcerative colitis, and allergy disorders.
Specific substances are given to manage anxiety, depression, irritability, insecurity, paranoia, etc. These feelings are considered inducers for the above disorders, and managing them can help bring about a harmony in the patient's overall health.

GERD: Gastro esophageal reflux disease is a disorder that results from stomach acid moving backward from the stomach into the esophagus. GERD usually happens because the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), the muscular valve where the esophagus joins the stomach, opens at the wrong time or does not close properly.

Homeopathy For GERD:
Homeopathic medicine relies not only on identifying the symptoms of the disease, but on a variety of personality traits, the person's mental state and other characteristic symptoms a patient exhibits which correlate to any particular remedy. When choosing a correct remedy for the treatment of heartburn, all aspects of the patient are taken into account.
These are some of the Homoeopathic medicines that may prove beneficial:- Argentum nit, Cal.carb., China, Carbo veg, Lycopodium, Nat. phos, Nux vomica, Phosphorus, Pulsatilla, Robinia, sulphuric acid etc.

Migraine: Migraine is a form of headache. The pain is usually throbbing, pulsating and bursting in character. At times, the pain is one sided or may involve the whole head. Such pain may last for hours or even days. It is often accompanied by other symptoms like nausea or vomiting. At the same time, there is increased sensitivity to light and sound. In some cases, the pain is preceded by some warning symptoms like flashes of light, temporary blindness or tingling sensation in the limbs.

Homeopathy for Migraine:
Belladonna is widely used homeopathy remedy for migraines, where headache is throbbing and violent, occurs suddenly, worsens on touching, and relieves with pressure. Glonoine is useful in congestive headaches with a reddened face that is worsened by sun or heat. Natrum Mur is useful in cases where headache is brought on by grief or stress.

Ulcerative colitis: Ulcerative colitis is a serious chronic inflammatory disease of the large intestine accompanied by ulcerated lesions of the intestinal tissues. It is characterized by episodes of abdominal pain with profuse diarrhea in which large quantities of blood, pus, and mucus are present in the feces. There is an urgency to move the bowels, as many as, three to ten times per day. It may be accompanied with pain, nausea, and vomit. Because of the loss of blood, the patient may become dehydrated and anemic.
Complications of ulcerative colitis includes liver and kidney disease, peritonitis, toxic mega colon, and risk of developing colon cancer.

Homeopathy for Ulcerative Colitis:
To identify the actual inducing agent, some foods are removed to see if they are inducing attacks. Once identified, that is removed from the patient's diet. In addition, aloe, arsenicum album, carbo vegetabilis, colocynthis, are commonly used remedies for ulcerative colitis. The patient is asked for associated symptoms like bleeding diarrhea, color of the feces, involuntary defecation, abdominal pain, anxiety, cramps, and stress before deciding on a treatment mode.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome: Irritable bowel syndrome, also known as spastic colon is a functional disorder characterized by recurrent abdominal pain, cramping, and bloating. Some people suffer from constipation, which means hard, dry stools, difficult to eliminate, leading to straining without success. Some people experience diarrhea, with frequent loose watery stools.

Homeopathy for Irritable Bowel Syndrome:
Sulphur, Pulsatilla, Phosphorus, Nux Vomica, Lycopodium clavatum, Argentum Nitricum, and Silicea are commonly used homeopathic remedies. Associated symptoms that need to be considered before deciding on a therapy include frequency of stooling, nature of stools, abdominal bloating, restlessness, irritability and nervousness.

Homeopathy is a preferred mode of treatment for psychosomatic disorders as they aim at a holistic treatment of the individual and not just at symptom management.

Allergy: Allergy is an abnormal reaction or increased sensitivity to certain substances. The allergic individual produces symptoms when exposed to these substances, which are harmless to non-allergic people. The main reason for this is that allergic people make a special type of antibody called immunoglobin E (IgE), which can react with environmental substances in harmful way. These substances which lead to secretion of IgE antibodies are called allergens.

Homeopathy for Allergy:
Few important remedies for the homeopathic treatment of allergy are- Histamine, Natrum Mur, Kali Bich, Sepia, Hepar Sulph, , Carbo Veg , Sulphur, Bryonia, Nux Vom, Apis Mel, Ailanthus, and Justicia adhatoda.

6 Do's and Don'ts of Healthy Eating Habits

6 Do's and Don'ts of Healthy Eating Habits

6 do's and don'ts of healthy eating habits

1. Try to eat more unprocessed foods

Use fresh ingredients like vegetables, eggs, milk, lean meat etc to prepare your meals in and try to avoid consumption of processed food as far as possible. In most cases, processed food items are loaded with preservatives, added chemical substances, sweeteners, fats and artificial colours, which should be avoided to maintain good health. Also, make sure to include lots of fresh fruits, nuts and legumes in your daily diet instead of fruit juices, instant noodles or frozen food items.

2. Include whole grains in your diet

Whole grains have a lesser glycemic index (figure that measures the ability of carbohydrates to increase glucose in your blood), which makes them a healthy food option. Whole grains keep you full for long hours while providing you with energy to concentrate at work throughout the day. When it comes to taste, the flavour and nuttiness of whole grains are superior to refined ones. So, prefer wholegrain bread, pasta or brown rice when choosing your food items.

3. Monitor your serving sizes

Monitoring the amount of what you eat is important as it helps you to limit your intake of unhealthy food. Also, ensure that the amount of food you eat for dinner is lesser than that of your lunch. Ideally, for lunch, you should ensure that half your meal consists of salad or vegetables and the other half should contain lean proteins and low-gi or whole grain carbs in equal amounts.

1. Skip breakfast

Breakfast is considered to be the most significant meal of the day. Make it a habit to have breakfast every day as skipping this meal can adversely affect your health by causing obesity, irritated mood, and headaches while increasing your risks of getting hypoglycaemia (deficiency of glucose in your bloodstream).

2. Eat excessively saturated fat

Try to minimise your intake of food containing saturated fats as this can lead to the accumulation of weight in different parts of your body. Instead of consuming, huge amounts of milk, cheese, butter, bacon, meat etc. Switch to low-fat substitutes like white-meat chicken, reduced-fat dairy products, soy versions of traditional meat etc.

3. Give up your entire diet plan for a small mistake

If you happen to make only one dieting mistake, don't feel disappointed and start munching on unhealthy or junk food. Just remember that eating large amounts of unhealthy food can nullify all the effects of healthy eating you have experienced so far.

Post Delivery Workout - The Right Time To Begin

Post Delivery Workout - The Right Time To Begin

Exercise after pregnancy can make a woman feel at her best. It can help her to lose extra pounds specifically when it is combined with reduced intake of calories. It will also boost her level of energy and relieve stress along with strengthening and toning abdominal muscles. Exercising regularly will also set a positive example for your baby so that he or she can imbibe the same and include it in their regime from an early childhood.

Workout and Breast-feeding: Are they related?

Exercise is not deemed to have any negative effects on either breast milk composition or volume. It also doesn’t affect the growth and development of a nursing baby. Though some researchers report that high-intensity weight loss training may cause accumulation of lactic acid in the breast milk causing a sour taste, but such instances are very rare and don’t happen with regular free hand to moderate exercise.

If you are willing to indulge in vigorous exercise during the first few months of feeding your baby, you can feed him or her before exercising or pumping the milk before workout and feed it afterwards. Alternatively, you can take a shower after the workout and express a few drops of milk before feeding your baby.

When is the right time to start workout?

If you had experienced an uncomplicated normal delivery, it is particularly safe to start exercising after a few days of giving birth or as soon as your body feels ready. If you had a complicated birth, or a C-section or an extensive vaginal repair, you should seek advice from a gynaecologist about the ideal time to start a workout program.

Activities that you may start with:

For the majority of healthy women, the Department of Health and Human Services suggests at least 150 minutes of moderate exercises or aerobic activity spanning through a week. You may start with a simple and low impact exercise such as a plain walk. You can even look for a post-partum workout class at a local fitness club, gym or community centre. Then you can proceed towards starting pelvic tilt and kegel exercises.

When you are nursing a newborn, getting enough time for routine exercises can be very challenging. Hormonal imbalance would bring about mood swings and some days you may feel too tired for a full-time work workout. out. However, you must never give up; speak with a health care specialist and seek the support of your partner and friends to stay motivated right through. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Gynaecologist.

How Acupuncture balances 5 elements of body and disorders it can treat

Hi, I am  Santosh Kumar Pandey, owner, and founder of Shenmen Healing Center. It is in Santa Cruz, West Mumbai. In my clinic basically, we are doing acupuncture, acupressure, we are trying to help people with this therapy a lot and it is really wonderful and amazing therapy I would say. First, we should know what is acupuncture and pressure, of course. So acupressure and acupuncture are same. But in acupressure we do pressure points on the meridians and channels of the body and similarly we try to stimulate the same point and same channels with the needles, and it is amazing therapy, it is wonderful I would say, we are helping lots of people, trying to cure them. Sometimes there are magical results with acupuncture and when it opens all your blocked energy and blocked chi from the body. It gives you lot of relief from the pain, constipation, indigestion, gases, headache, cervical, back; patients are really happy with this therapy and it is going to be one of the best modes of natural therapies.

Here, we are treating all type of cases, like pain, paralysis, any type of stress related disorders, cervical spondylitis, backache and even we are very good of allergy and asthma and hormonal cases, even skin disorders we are treating with acupuncture, we are getting the very good result into that also. I would say in lots of cases where medically there is somewhere lots of issues with the medication, side effect of the medicine, in all those cases we are getting very good results in natural technique, in the natural way of the therapy. In acupuncture, I would say, in all those cases, where sometimes only medicines like painkillers or some like a suppressant medication started by the doctors. Lots of side effects into all those things, in that cases we are able to help lots of cases like I would say a migraine, backache and your knee pain and headache, sinusitis, asthma.

So in acupuncture, we prick needle on the specific points to open the blockages from the meridians, or we call it channels also. So wherever the blocked chi, it opens that particular area, that particular meridian and through that you feel sometimes energy is travelling, and another system, and you feel good, you feel relaxed; emotional and any time of pain is there, sometimes it releases from there and sometimes you feel the energy, sometimes you feel like the body is very much balanced, you feel sleepy, after that you feel really good energy into that, since we put needle, sometimes you feel like a little prick with the very tiny needle we put into that. People are afraid because of the presence of the needle in acupuncture that it is not that painful. After putting the needle, sometimes you feel a little prick, and bite I would say. After that there is nothing. And sometimes we give electrical stimulation called tens and some rhythmic massage or muscular exercises you feel after that the patient feels very nice when you put that lens. In few cases we are giving it for 20 minutes and sometimes 28 minutes, it is lying in the body, that machine and needle. Mostly with the needle we do 28 minutes and with the machine 20 minutes only. And with that, you will feel very good.

With the rhythmic message in the body; you will feel some sensation toward the meridian. If your system is very sensitive you will feel more and it releases lots of pressure, lots of blockages from the body.
This is my personal experience, sometimes after a first or second session, you will feel little……..because of the detoxification of the body. You might feel little tired or sometimes you will feel little indigestion, gases I have also seen. Or I have seen some loose motion, one or two sessions, one or two days, sometimes one or two times only. And there is no other complication of doing acupuncture. Overall you will feel very good doing this. And your energy will improve. And it’s very good to enhance the body’s energy and your minds energy, your emotional energy. It releases the stress from your body. So you will be feeling very good.

Any further inquiry if you want to do, you can visit me or you can call me through Thank You.

For the lump in the breast is operation required? After mammogram also do we need to get operated and remove that lump? How much does it cost?

MBBS, DNB - Surgery, Fellowship in Breast Surgical Oncology
Oncologist, Gurgaon
It is not necessary that every lump in the breast requires operation. It depends upon the nature of lump. Some benign (non cancerous) lumps can be left as such if they are small in size but routine follow up is required. Surgery is required in cases when size of lump is increasing or is painful or for cosmetic reasons or malignant lump (cancerous). Cost depends upon the type of procedure done for that particular lump.
