I am 17 year old my name is aman. Can you tell me what are the symptoms of flu Can I get solution for pimples.

BHMS
Homeopath, Chennai
I am 17 year old my name is aman. Can you tell me what are the symptoms of flu Can I get solution for pimples.
There are three types of flu virus. Type A viruses cause most cases of human flu and some disease in animals. Type B are less common and cause less severe illness. Type C viruses usually only cause mild flu and are rare. Symptoms of flu tend to be more serious than those of the common cold and can include: Sudden fever (usually 39°C or above, Dry cough, Achy muscles, Headache, Sore throat, Extreme tiredness, Runny or blocked nose, Nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea (more common in children) Acne or pimples is a chronic disease involving the pilosebaceous follicles. Sebaceous glands are found most abundantly on the face and scalp, though they are present on every part of the skin except the palms of the hands and soles of the feet. Though the sebaceous gland is a mini organ, it is anatomically and functionally related to the hair follicle. Cutaneous disorders attributed to the sebaceous gland are really disorders of the entire pilosebaceous unit. The areas most commonly involved in acne are the face, upper chest, and back. Other less common areas include the upper arms, buttocks, and upper thighs. Acne arises from the interaction of 4 factors 1. Excess sebum production caused by androgenic stimulation of sebaceous glands; 2. Outlet obstruction of the sebaceous follicle arising from excess production of keratinocytes (the basic cell of the epidermis); 3. Increased proliferation of the bacteriaPropionibacterium acnes that normally live in the sebaceous follicle; and 4. Inflammation caused by sebum escaping into the surrounding skin. Excessive manipulation by the patient, causing the primary lesions to disappear and leaving excoriated, raw-looking marks. This is called acne excoriée and can cause scar formation. For removal of black marks you can apply pure coconut oil daily before sleeping, don't apply while going out in sun together with this constitutional homoeopathic treatment will give you best results.

How can I get rid of blackheads in nose? Is there any ayurvedic way to apply to my nose?
Hi lybrate-user, Blackheads are a feature of acne, a common skin condition that involves lesions frequently referred to as pimples, spots, zits, whiteheads or blackheads. Blackheads are a specific kind of dark acne lesion, so-called because they contain oxidized melanin, the pigment made by skin cells called melanocytes. Apart from medical treatment which includes medications for local application and oral medications if required, for long term benefits advanced treatments available. These are, Chemical peels, RF therapy, Enriched oxygen therapy and Microneedling therapy. These are highly recommended. These not only cure black heads, but also lead to significant improvement in appearance of dark spots and scars. Treatment is done based on the severity of the condition. I would be happy to help you. Please consult me privately so that I can understand your problem in detail and help you.

I suggest you take homeopathic medicine acid phos 1m/single dose (5 drops in little water) and revert after 2 weeks. Apply jaborandi hair oil. Also use arnica shampoo. Drink 8-10 glasses of water daily. Eat healthy and balanced food like pulses, green leafy vegetables, fresh fruits and nuts etc. Add more vitamin rich food to your diet. Avoid stress and anger by meditation. Cut down the use of hair spray, hair gel. Take sound/good sleep. Avoid too much exposure of your hair to sunlight/ hair styling tools, as they damage hair and cause split ends.

I am 28 years unmarried girl. I have sagging breasts. What can be done to firm them ?

Cosmetic/Plastic Surgeon, Mumbai
Hello , What is the cause for sagging? Did you lose a lot of weight? The simplest option would be to add volume to your breasts using either your own fat or silicon implant to firm them.(This will also increase breast size) The other option is to surgically lift and tighten the breasts. Depending on the extent of sagging there are two methods: 1. Formal breast lift . Leads to a vertical scar on the breast (keyhole) 2. Donut breast lift. Leads to a circular scar around nipple (areola) You may contact me directly for more details Dr Varun Dixit

Dry & Itchy Skin - 9 Most Important Tips You Must Follow!

MBBS, Diploma In Dermatology And Venerology And Leprosy (DDVL), DNB dermatology
Dermatologist, Gurgaon
Dry & Itchy Skin - 9 Most Important Tips You Must Follow!

Are you suffering from dry, stretched, itchy or flaky skin? Remember dry skin look older than oily skin, as they show fine lines and wrinkles faster. They also flake, crack and bleed easily. Read on for 10 super easy steps recommended by dermatologists to soothe dry skin

Prevent hot baths and showers which dehydrate skin further. Do these instead for dry skin

  1. Use warm water
  2. Don’t shower for more than 5 minutes
  3. Wash with a gentle and fragrance-free soap
  4. Don’t apply too much soap so that it whips up a thick lather
  5. Don’t rub your skin dry with a towel

Post bath routine

  1. Slather on a rich moisturiser after drying your skin: Moisturisers trap extra moisture in your skin so the right time to use them is immediately after drying yourself with a towel. It’s better to use ointments and creams as these are more effective than lotions. Creams with olive and jojoba oil, Shea butter, lactic acid, urea, hyaluronic acid, dimethicone, glycerin, lanolin, mineral oil, and petrolatum jelly all are good. If the skin on your hand is extra dry and feels stretched then it’s a good idea to carry a non-greasy hand cream with you. Apply it to each washing hands immediately to relieve dry skin.
  2. Use only unscented skin care products: Shun harsh skin products which strip natural oils from skin like-
    • Deodorant soaps
    • Skin care products that contain fragrances, alcohol, retinoids, or alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA)
  3. Wear gloves when washing utensils: This will prevent dry skin on hands. All you have to do is wear latex gloves before you start washing clothes and utensils.
  4. Choose laundry detergent with care: Laundry detergents should be chosen with care as they can irritate skin. Go for detergents labelled “hypoallergenic”.
  5. Avoid toasting yourself by the fireplace or other heat sources in winters: Remember heat is drying. So limit your time in front of a hot stove or fireplace.
  6. Use humidifiers to add moisture to indoor air: Use of humidifier will help prevent excessive drying of skin.
  7. Use milk on skin: Milk is packed with anti-inflammatory and soothing properties that can fight dry and itchy skin. The lactic acid in milk also exfoliates dead skin cells and increases the capacity of your skin to retain moisture.
  8. Honey: Honey is one of the best natural moisturisers. It comes loaded with antioxidants and antimicrobials.
  9. Yogurt: Yogurt is a skin-hydrating agent par excellence. Its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties also help soothe dry and itchy skin.

If these things don’t work in alleviating skin dryness, you may require a prescription cream, so see a dermatologist.

My face is getting oily so quickly, after 15 mins of bath face becomes oily, how can I overcome from this ?
You can take homoeopathic medicines – Berberis Aquefolium Q/ 10 drops in 1/2 cup of water/ thrice a day and Kali Brom. 200/ thrice a day – for 20 days. Wash your face with Bakson's Facewash (wash your face with warm water only) and followed by CTMP, i.e., cleansing, toning, moisturising and protection (apply liberally Sunscreen Gel with SPF-30) after washing your face daily. Use home-made remedies: - Take 1 tbsp of fuller's earth (multani mitti) + a dash of lime + bit of rosewater – apply this on your face till it gets dried up, then rinse it off. - Take 1 tsp of Alum (or fitkari), make it slightly wet with water and apply this on your wet face, spread it well; let it dry and rinse it off. Alum remove your excessive moisture or oil and it also tightens the skin's tonicity.

All about Otoplasty

MS - ENT -, MBBS
ENT Specialist, Delhi
All about Otoplasty

Otoplasty is a surgical procedure where modifications are made in the shape and size of the ear. This procedure can only be carried put after the ears are fully developed, that is after the age of 5. This surgery can be used to improve the functionality as well as the appearance of the ear.

The reasons why people opt for otoplasty are-

  • If the ears are relatively large in comparison to the face
  • When the ear sticks out excessively from the head
  • Problems caused by any previous surgery

Procedure

Incisions are either made through the back of the ear or through the inner creases of the ear. Once the incision is made, then the excess skin or cartilage is eliminated. After completion of the surgery, the incisions are closed by stitches. The entire process generally lasts for up to two hours.

After the stitching is done, the ears are covered with bandages. Once the bandages are removed from the ear, a loose headband is worn to provide support to the ears while sleeping.

Risks associated with the surgery

There are certain risks associated with this surgery, like:

  • Formation of the scars due to the surgery
  • An asymmetric appearance of the ears as the healing process may affect it
  • Decreased skin sensitivity in the adjoining area
  • The stitches in the ear can cause inflammation in the skin. It may also lead to an abnormal shape where the ears have a pulled back appearance
  • Like other surgeries, bleeding and infection may occur

Post procedural care

The following precautions should be taken after completion of otoplasty:

  • The headband should be used constantly after the surgery for about two months
  • Direct exposure to the sun should be avoided
  • If rash forms after the bandages are removed then consult a medical professional
