Hello doctor, Me and my gf were fooling around nude and we were attracted towards each other. But we didn't done sex. And I just rubbed my on her privacy part without releasing sperm. On the same night she was having vomiting and she doubted about pregnancy. To clear her doubt she took ipill on the next day within 72 hours. And now 2, 3 days went away she is having cramps (sudden sharp pain) for a seconds, from the day she took ipill. And even she didn't get her periods which was due on 22 feb. Will these cramps go away? And when will she get her periods back? As she took the ipill two days before her menses.

1) Same night of sex there can not be even doubt of pregnancy. 2) When I pill is taken after gap of 5-10 days one gets withdrawal bleeding, meaninng if expected period is ver near gets post-ponned. After withdrawal bleeding cyclicity of periods change. 3) If pains are severe meet Gynecologist otherwise just wait and look for absence of withdrawal bleeding-period.

Your doctor must have started it as pregnancy support. Discharge is common post vaginal insertion as some of the medicine comes out after it melts. The other option is taking it orally if vaginal insertion is bothering u.

In majority of the cases irregular menses are accredited to hormonal imbalance, but in some cases it may be pathological and secondary to some pathology of ovaries mostly. Now if you want to regularized the menses then you must establish permanent balanced first and this can be achieved only with homoeopathy, because in modern medicine we get only a hormonal support with a very temporary relief. But with homoeopathy you can strike the hormonal balance permanently which later on also give you regular menses even if you stop the medicine.

Hi Doctors, I want to sex with my wife without condom, actually we do not need a baby till 2 year, so please advice me which time period of woman is safe for sex without condom, so that we can enjoy the sex without condom.

MD - General Medicine
General Physician, Hisar
There is no 100 % safe period in woman's cycle, however, if she has regular 28 days menstrual cycle then avoid sex from 8th to 18th of cycle. Counting 1 st day of menstrual cycle as day one.

You are writing about family planning method called'safe period' which is actually quite unsafe for avoiding pregnancy. In those who have irregular cycles very few days can be considered safe. In your case first 3 days and after 19 days can be considered safe however remember not very safe so better to use some other method.

In your case the correct date of ovulation is between 8th to 16th day of cycle, but since you have not got pregnant even after three years of marriage, you would need to look into other parameters too, like thyroid, harmonal tests and Ultrasound for your self, and semen analysis of your husband. For further advice and details on what can be done ,and what Medicines you should take to advise you for fertility you may get back to us.

Sir/Madam, Yesterday I have a sexual relationship with my wife, then I watched blood releasing from vagina (my wife) ...
Thanks for your question. When using condoms there is always a risk of pregnancy as they are not the most reliable contraceptive. If you feel even a drop of semen may have leaked or you had anyvgenital contact before intercourse without condoms then please encourage her to take emergency pill. Ipill, unwanted 72. If taken within 24 hrs of unprotected intercourSe it can prevent an unwanted pregnancy (95%success). Any delay gradually reduces the effectiveness. If in doubt please consult your gynaecoLogist best wishes.

Briefing on PCOS

Treatment, symptoms and risk factor of PCOS

I’m Dr. Sunita Gupta. I’m a consultant gynaecologist with Max Hospital Saket and Panchsheel, and I, in my first video I talked to you about the PCOS and today I’m further going to go into depth on the disease. So, third symptom is excessive facial hair on the face and the body. That is also again because of the male hormone circulating in the blood, and again, the treatment remains contraceptive pills. So most of the patients respond to contraceptive pills, but it can take up to six months to show its effect, and whatever hair is already there on the skin that will not respond and the fresh hair will stop coming with this treatment. Whatever hair is already there has to be treated by the skin specialist, so they can advise laser treatment or any beauty treatment for that, or some local creams are also there to reduce the facial hair.

And the fourth symptom is irregular cycles. Irregular cycle are also because of the male hormones in the blood. They also respond very well to contraceptive pills, but sadly not all patients need to take contraceptive pills for irregular cycles, sometimes if you correct the insulin resistance which is the basic cause in polycystic ovary, then also the cycles can become irregular also, can become regular, and so we can give them Metformin or some insulin, some medicines which can tackle the insulin resistance, which is the basic cause of obesity. And sometimes patients with polycystic ovary have excessive hair fall, which is also related to the male hormone in the blood, and if we correct the PCOD the hair fall stops, and it can take up to three months to respond.

In Polycystic ovary patients, because of the male hormone in the blood, the egg formation doesn’t occur properly and that’s why they often have infertility problem, and they may have difficulty in conceiving. If normally paints have egg formation every month, in polycystic ovary patients they may have egg formation in three months, six months, so they take all that longer to conceive. So we have medicines that induce egg formation and if we correct the PCOD, then also egg formation, if we lose weight and regular exercise by that alone so many patients start ovulating every month and they can conceive. The hormones become alright. Because it has to be a perfect cocktail of hormone in your blood, then only it becomes favorable for egg formation and for conception. So that can happen only if with regular exercise and dieting.

Sometimes you may need treatment for egg formation and infertility also occurs because the lining of the uterus is thin in these patients. Again because the progesterone hormone is less in these patients. So we may need to give them progesterone hormones in the second half of the cycle to improve their chances of conception. PCOS patients also have more chances of abortions in the first three months of pregnancy, because they have less of progesterone hormone in their blood, and that is required for so that the seed can make its roots properly in the uterus, so we need to give they progesterone supplements sometimes if they even need estrogen supplements or even some medicines to improve the blood flow in the uterus.

So even the PC or the male hormone have to be kept under control so that the baby can grow properly. For that we need to give them something to control the insulin resistance so that automatically the male hormones in the blood go down. So first three months are very crucial for PCOS patients. If the first three months can be tackled, then the rest of the pregnancy normally goes uneventful. So that is all about PCOS I wanted to share with you.

And if you want to consult me any further, you can consult me on Lybrate.com, or you can consult directly in Max Hospital Saket.

Laparoscopy Surgery: A Boon for Patients

Good Afternoon

I am Dr. Chetna. Today we are doing to talk about the benefits of Minimal Access Surgery. So Minimal Access Surgery is more commonly known as Keyhole Surgery or a Laparoscopic Surgery. Now this is a revolution in the medical science which is now we are practicing for the last fifteen twenty years and it has given excellent result. A lot of people still in theato cities or otherwise metro cities also still have fear about laparoscopic surgeries. When they come to OBT, they start talking that you know the surgery remains and complications and stuff. Now here I would like to bust this myth and explain to you that why a Minimal Access Surgery is far superior to an open conventional surgery. Now a Minimal Access Surgery or a Laparoscopic Surgery is done through making punctures in abdomen void. Now this can be used for a various Diseases like to remove the uterus, to remove the ovarian cyst, to correct the polycystic, to remove endometriosis, to correct ectopic pregnancy and other further related surgeries. So we can remove large fibroids ad large as seven months pregnancy sized to large ovarian cysts. Yes, there are certain pre-requisites which we need to see before we decide whether this patient is fit for Laparoscopic Surgery or not. Majority of the women who are otherwise fit that means they have a normal exercise and urines and stuff are able to withstand Minimal Access Surgeries. So I was coming to advantages. Advantages no. 1, there are no major cuts on the tummy so there are some punctures. They may vary in numbers between two to four or sometimes even five and the size of these punctures would be largest to be about ten or twelve centimeters so you can believe these are very small punctures. The second advantage is that the surgeon is operating under the magnification of 6X or more. So that gives a lot of access to the pelvis so we can see it very properly. If required we can rotate the camera and go in the upper abdomen and see that as well. So there is a lot of benefits when it comes to the visual appearance of the organs and the operation skill. Then the instrument that we use in the Laparoscopy are very fine. To explain, my scissor blade is no longer than the nib of the pen that we use, not the ink pen we are talking, the regular gel pen. So that is the size of the blade that we use so that gives a very fine precision. Then the blood loss is quite less since the abdomen is not open to the air outside so the recovery is quite fast. That means the less number of hospital stay, less chances of blood transfusion or almost no chances of blood transfusion. You can go home fast. You can…. I have had patients who did the surgery, second day we went to work, fifth day you see them coming from the office to remove their stitches. So this is brilliance you can’t expect.so very next day the patient sits and starts eating and starts eating and talking, everything feels normal. So this is a blessing, it is a boon and since majority of the surgeries can be done by Laparoscopy. I would say before going in for an open surgery. They should be considered for laparoscopy. Yes, there are certain candidates are not fit for laparoscopy and these can have an open surgery but majority of who had fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, polycystic ovaries, pelvic infections, ovarian mass, some of the cancer patients also, uterus removal for heavy bleeding. So all these things can be done through a laparoscopy. So I believe this is a blessing by the modern science and we should all avail of this benefit.

So if any questions we can always meet me up at Medicals Medi-clinic Sector-14 and also part of Apollo cradle hospital. So you are welcome.
