Hi, Usually I used to walk for more than 2 kms per day but for the past one week I am not able to walk even for a 500metre I am getting severe pain in the thigh and foots. And I have fever from monday I took acetaminophen continuously for 4 days even though still I am having fever and this leg pain so what should I do? Please suggest some good medicines for me ASAP.

Viral fever takes 3-5 days. But if fever persist for long or associated with other symptoms like rashes/ nausea/vomiting/ severe Joint pain/ severe bodyache headache/ breathlessness/pain in chest or abdomen etc. Then Consult Physician or please update for further guidance, as you may require physical check up & blood investigations like CBC, ESR, Blood sugar Liver function test, S. Creatinine , Widal test , MP Card test, urine examination & treatment will be based on reports. At present you can take Tab. Paracetamol 500 after meals, 3 – 4 times daily (only if you are not allergic to the drug) for symptomatic relief. Cap. Becosule - Z once daily. Drink plenty of water, Coconut water. Take light but nutritious diet . Visit physician ASAP. Take care.

Common Causes Of Headaches:

Migraine

Vascular Disorders
Subarachnoid Haemorrhage
Brain Tumour
The patient who presents with a new, severe headache have causes that may be different from patient with recurrent headaches over many years.

People frequently ask me to get imaging of brain done to rule out the cause of headache. They have special attraction for MRI and CT Scans. But not every headache requires investigations. But there are headaches which require investigations. Let us understand , when a headache requires immediate attention.

Headache Symptoms that Suggest a Serious Underlying Disorder :

Worst headache ever
First severe headache
Headache worsening over days or weeks
Associated with Neurological Deficit
Fever or unexplained systemic signs
Vomiting preceding headache
Pain induced by bending, lifting, cough
Pain that disturbs sleep or presents immediately upon awakening
Known systemic illness
Onset after age 55
Pain associated with local tenderness, e.G, region of temporal artery
If you have any of these symptoms, you need to have a doctor consultation as soon as possible.

Now, let us read about two most common types of headaches, i.E Migraine and Tension type headache that we see in clinical practice.

Migraine :

Migraine, a very common cause of headache, more commonly affects women than men. It is usually an episodic headache which is usually unilateral (on one side of head) and is associated with certain features like:

Nausea (Feeling of vomiting)
Photophobia (Sensitivity to light)
Phonophobia (Sensitivity to sound)
Light-headedness
Scalp tenderness
Vomiting, Nausea (Feeling of vomiting)
Visual disturbances
Paresthesias (tingling sensations)
Vertigo
Alteration of consciousness
Diarrhea
Seizure
Confusion
People having migraine, usually during acute attacks, prefer to be alone and don?t want any sound, light, want to sleep in dark room.

Acute attacks are usually triggered by some stimulants called as ?triggers? which are commonly following :

Bright lights
Sounds
Hunger
Stress
Exertion
Hormonal fluctuations during menses
Lack of or excess sleep
Alcohol, Wine, Cheese or other chemical stimulation
Patients should try to notice their triggers and should do life-style adjustments to avoid them.

How to Deal with Migraines?

Patients having migraine should seek a medical consultation. There are drugs which are given to terminate acute attacks of migraine, as well as to prevent them.
They should have a fix routine of sleeping like from 10 pm to 6 am. They should not sleep for more than 30 min during daytime, as excessive sleeping during day time would cause problem in falling asleep during nighttime, leading to disturbance of sleep cycle and precipitation of migraine.
They should avoid wine, cheese, lemon.
Tension - Type Headache :

It is a chronic head-pain syndrome characterized by tight, band like discomfort. It is bilateral (means on both sides of head). The pain typically builds slowly, fluctuates in severity and may persist more or less continuously for many days. The headache may be episodic or chronic (present >15 days per month). It may be associated with sleep disturbances.

How to Deal with Tension Type Headache?

The pain can generally be managed with simple analgesics but should be taken under medical supervision as they have a long list of adverse effects. There are other drugs too, but can be given only under medical supervision.
Behavioral therapies including relaxation are also effective.
Patients with this type of headaches are advised to throw away their ?Headaches? to prevent the ?Headache? , means they should try to sort out the tension or problem that is causing the headache.

According to a study by the Agricultural University of Norway, the possibility of developing conditions like dry skin, sore throats and dry coughs is reduced.
  3. Natural purification of air: It has been claimed by researchers that plants can remove about 87 percent of toxins from the surrounding air in a day. These toxins are called volatile organic compounds (VOCs). VOCs include formaldehyde, benzene and trichloroethylene.
  4. Health booster: It influences the overall health of an individual. It has been found by researchers that surgical patients improve faster in rooms with plants. They feel energetic; have proper heart rate and blood pressure. Ayurveda Science tells us that a green and airy ambience is pleasing to the mind. It helps in insomnia, hyperacidity and is an excellent aphrodisiac!
  5. Increases concentration power: A study by The Royal College of Agriculture in Circencester, England, claims that indoor plants helps in increasing the concentration power in individuals. They make you relaxed and leave a positive impact on your mind. You are filled with optimistic energy and able to focus in life better. It can take away stress from your life. People who keep indoor plants in their houses are usually satisfied with life.

Hello, Thanks for the query. There are many persons with diabetes, hypertension and high lipids, who do run marathons. But that depends on the individuals training, fitness and, capability and will power. If he has been training regularly, running long distances without any difficulty then he can go for marathon. Hi lybrate-user your age is just 19 years so it will gain naturally bu I can suggest yo some basic thing I suggest you easy method of weight gain just follow it for year you will gain weigh defiantly 1. Start exercise regularly for 3 month and then after 3 month leave it for 3 month at the time of exercise your diet will increase but same diet continue after 3 month when you stop exercise so thats why your weight will increase automatically now we discus about diet 2. Take dates with milk in the morning breakfast 3. Triphala kadha 4 tsp beore lunch and dinner 4. Amala juice 4 tsp + 2tsp sugar + 2tsp honey in the morning empty stomach this take for 1.5 month only your weight gain will take definitely note=avoid over eating.

I am 33 years old woman suffering from lower and upper back pain. Don't have any kids. Got married two years before. X ray report says that there is early spondylosis in T6 to T8, T11, T12, L3 to L5. Consulted ortho doctor. He asked for HLA B27 test and Anti CCP test but nothing came in reports. So he stopped arthritis medicines (Sazo). Taking homeopathy medicine. Have some relief and cannot get it eradicated. Aslo now a day feeling pain in the centre of spine at my waist. Cannot lie down on bed for long time (even for 6 to 7 hours at night), since back becomes stiff and I can feel pain. Kindly help.

Hello lybrate-user, Why don't you take Ayurvedic treatment for your problem. It's very effective, fast & with out any side effects. 1) Tab Trayodashang Guggul 2-2-2 2) Tab Yograj Guggul 2-2-2 after food with hot milk 3) Dashmul & Nirgundi oil for local application 3 times a day. Take following oil 1. Vata-jatadi tail apply it on hair alternate days take following remedies 1 asthi poshak vati 1 tab before lunch and dinner 2. Amala juice 4 tsp + 2tsp sugar + 2tsp honey in the morning empty stomach 3. Laghu malini vasant ras vati 2 tab after lunch and dinner for application 1. Hi lybrate-user there is no other way of reducing weight except by consuming less calories. 2) deep fried, processed foods, pickles, papads, pastries, biscuits, nuts, chocolates, ice creams, deserts should be completely avoided. 3) during business meetings go for plain rice with thin dals and lots of salads. 4) dinner should be taken as early as possible 5) simple sugars, nuts, dry fruits (except almonds and walnuts) should be restricted. 6) small frequent meals (containing high fibre, low fat, moderate to low carbohydrates, moderate proteins, normal vitamins and minerals) with regular exercise is beneficial. 7) begin your meal with a big bowl of salad or soups. 8) drink plenty of water. 9) do not skip meals 10) prefer roasted /grilled /steamed/boiled food items. 11) tea consumption should be reduced. Replace tea with organic green tea. Do not have tea along with any meal. 12) consumption of full cream milk will increase fat percentage so skimmed milk is a good option. Have 2 cups of ecovalley green tea daily.(without sugar)
