Oats vs Cornflakes - What should you start your day with?

Oats and cornflakes are both considered to be ideal breakfast options due to their ability to boost your energy levels and keep you full for long hours. But which one of them is the healthier choice? Let’s have a look at their nutritional values so that you can decide which of them to have for breakfast daily.

1. Calorie content

Oatmeal has low calorie content, which amounts to be about 68 calories per 100 gm serving. Comparatively, 100 gm cornflakes contain about 357 calories. So, if you plan to keep your calorie consumption to a minimum, opt for oatmeal.

2. Fibre content

Cornflakes have the upper hand here. 100 gm of cornflakes contain about 3.3 gm dietary fibre in comparison to 1.7 gm fibre present in the same amount of oats. Dietary fibre is beneficial for your body as it lowers the level of bad cholesterol, regulates blood-sugar and aids proper bowel movements.

3. Vitamin A content

Cornflakes are rich sources of vitamin A, containing about 1786 IU per 100 gm serving. This makes it a better choice as a daily dose of vitamin A in ample amount improves your vision, helps in bone growth and boosts your immunity. On the other hand, 433 IU of vitamin A is present in 100 gm oats.

4. Fat content

Both cornflakes and oats are low in fat content with 100 gm of cornflakes having 0.4 gm fat and the same quantity of oats having 1.4 gm fat.

The scales are tipped more or less equally in favour of both cornflakes and oatmeal, and you can have either or both of them for breakfast.

Hey lybrate-user pcod or pcos is definitely curable. And there is no need for surgery. I am a homeopathic doctor and have cured several ovarian cyst cases. Curing a cyst is much easier than curing pcos because pcos comes with other anomalies also. Like hair growth on chin, weight increase, pigmentation on skin etc etc. So go for homeopathic treatment as early as possible. Because if the size of the cyst increases more than 55-60 mm, then the treatment would not be an option and only surgery will be done.

I had my periods around 10-13 May, 2016 and had protected sex on the 29th May, 2016. I took a pregnancy test on 14th June which was a negative and then had my periods the next day, on the 15th and it lasted for around 3 days. Is there any chances of it being implantation bleeding? I had cramps and bloating around the 23rd - 30th of June, and took a pregnancy test on 28th of june which was negative. I took another pregnancy test on the 1st of July, 2016 which was again negative. It is 15th today and I still have not got my periods and I have very scanty white discharge and slight cramps. Is there a possibility of me being pregnant? Also I took an ultrasound on the 4th of July. The doctor said my uterus was normal. I am getting so paranoid. Please help.

Hello, the period you had in june seems like a normal period. The chance of a pregnancy in a month is only about 20-30% so do not stress out abt it. It may take a while to get pregnant! do a pregnancy test only wen your periods are delayed and not thru out the cycle. There are a few hormonal changes that occur normally with each menstrual cycle like bloating etc. In case of further queries I wud be happy to help.

I am 25 years old. I'm newly married in may 2015. When I having sex with my wife then after 2-3 days I feel itching on my penis & my wife also. I would advise both of you to take a course of AF-KIT4 ; single dose. Also try and use lignocaine instillagel 2% 30 minutes before intercourse and see if that helps.

Generally this is due to a condition called fibroadenosis. This is a harmless condition and is related to hormonal changes. It is usually more, a few days before the start of monthly menstrual period and becomes less after the periods. You might be able to feel a lump on catching with all the fingers of your hand but no lump when you try to feel it with the flat surface of the fingers / hand. Breast support with a tight fitting bra might give some relief. Medication can be of some help but that should be taken only after a physical examination by a general surgeon.

There is no need to get it removed unless it is causing significant symptoms or is rapidly growing in size or there is a recent change in its character or there is some reason for suspicion. Harmless fibroadenoma may be left alone but with monthly observation by self examination and periodic examination by a general surgeon.

Hi here are 6 ways to gain weight healthily: 1. Eating 5 to 6 meals a day in order to gain weight, start eating 5-6 meals a day by breaking them into parts. Eating a lot at once may cause indigestion if the body fails to absorb all nutrients. Eat in small amounts, even if you are not hungry and there will be an increase in appetite from day to day. The aim should be to have a generously portioned breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as two to three snacks in between. 2. Start weight training if you build your muscles through weight training, it will convert the extra weight into lean body mass and also stimulate your appetite. The extra muscle increases the rate of metabolism. When you start exercising you will often experience extreme muscle soreness but it goes away in 3-5 days. 3. Load up on protein besides weight training, a protein-rich diet can help you gain mass. Eating a meal heavy in protein shortly after finishing exercise can be highly effective in adding extra pounds to your body. However, a diet focused only on lean protein is not helpful. It is important to make sure that your diet has plenty of fat in it. Eat foods rich in protein like cheese, meat, eggs, etc to gain weight in a healthy manner. 4. Workout your entire body a lot of people focus only on training the muscles on their arms, chest and shoulders and this is a grave error. Firstly, it will give you a disproportionate body; and it will make you prone to injuries. Therefore, it's important to work out the entire body for a complete and balanced look. 5. Be patient and believe in yourself gaining weight quickly in a healthy manner is unrealistic. Every body type is different and it takes months to gain weight. Living healthy by eating the right diet will increase your strength. It is also important to keep following the routine even if you don't see any gains. Caution: junk food and fried foods must be avoided; although have a tendency to add more fat to your body but are very low in vitamins and minerals which are essentially required to keep you really fit.

Hello lybrate-user- pain during menses is due to improper tone of uterus muscles. Use dashmoolaristha 2 tsp twice daily for 10 days before menses. This single medicine will cure all of your menstrual problems (do not use the medicine more than ten days as the body will become habitual to it and will not respond quickly)

u can go for shopping can do mild exercise but nothing which puts lot of pressure on the tummy. regular walking and all is of no harm.

You have pcos and irregular periods. Do slow and deep breathing relaxation exercises in the morning to be mentally strong. Take proper balanced diet. Keep your weight normal as compared to your height as more weight has bad effects on reproduction. Avoid garlic and red chilly and non veg and eggs. Take 8 to 10 glasses of water daily.
