What type of foods should I avoid and prefer after having a root canal treatment recently?
Do NOT Eat or Drink: Crunchy foods such as carrots, corn on the cob or apples, as they could damage the tooth or cause undue pain. Chewy foods such as gum, most breads or candy, like taffy, as it could pull out the temporary filling. Hard foods such as ice or nuts as they could damage the tooth or cause unnecessary pain. Avoid alcohol as it could increase bleeding. Avoid food that is excessively hot as it could increase sensitivity. Also avoid spicy food could cause unnecessary discomfort or sensitivity. DO Eat and Drink: Fruit smoothies Yogurt Ice Cream (without nuts or anything crunchy or chewy) Bananas Mangos Pears Milkshakes Peaches Soup (as long as it does not have anything crunchy or chewy in it) Mashed potatoes or mashed cauliflower Oatmeal Cream of wheat Eggs Applesauce Rice pudding Tuna salad Sushi Tofu Thin pastas cut up well (such as angel hair) Pancakes Pudding Hummus Macaroni and cheese Most Indian, Thai and Chinese food providing provided the noodles are thin, the meal is very mildly spiced and there are not any peanut, carrots or other crunchy/hard ingredients

Hello sir/madam I am facing the problem of bark in mouth. They occur very frequently. I take several medicines but don't get permanent solution, currently I am taking betnesol & bikasul caplsules, please advise what to do ?

These may be related to stress and tension. Do some meditation or yoga for a permanent solution. Use aloevera gel, it gives relief sometimes. Continue the tablets which you are taking.

If blood sugar level is maintained under normal range then implant is not a problem for you. But if you are not able to do so then implant failure can occur. You can go for any good dentist near to your locality, if not there then you can consult me.

Nowadays there are lots of products available for dental whitening. The best results will be from the dental whitening treatments done by the professional dentist, there are 2 - 3 sittings and you will get brighter shade.

I have lot of gaps between my tooths and also I have bad smell in my mouth how can I get relief from these problems.
it is little early to have gaps n teeth . maintain oral hygiene . The best way to get rid of bad breath & improve oral health is good oral hygiene like brushing your teeth twice a day with colgate fresh mint toothpaste regular rinse with Mouthwashes (listerine )after meals . this will help to avoid the bacteria in plaque, that accumulates in the mouth, you have to visit dental surgeon ,discuss problem with him and take treatment that is routine cleaning and polishing of teeth to remove most surface stains and oral cleanliness to make sure your teeth stay healthy.

Taking a painkiller will only give momentary relief. Please get a x-ray done to find out the extent of caries in the tooth. It may need a filling or root canal treatment. Please consult a dentist soon.

Bad breath, also known as halitosis, is embarrassing and can take a toll on your confidence level. Bad breath can be due to a number of reasons such as eating odorous foods, smoking, dry mouth, medical conditions, gum disease, and sinus conditions. However, the primary cause of bad breath is the bacteria that build up on the back of your tongue or between your teeth. Maintaining good oral health is essential to controlling bad breath. This includes regular tooth brushing, flossing and tongue scraping. Drinking adequate amount of water throughout the day is also essential for keeping your breath fresh. Plus, after eating a meal, swish water around your mouth for a few seconds. This will loosen food particles stuck between your teeth and clean your mouth. Along with water, you can also treat bad breath with the help of some readily available ingredients from your kitchen cupboard. Here are the top 10 home remedies for bad breath. 1. Fennel fennel acts as an excellent mouth freshener that helps control bad breath. It also contains antimicrobial properties that fight the bacteria in the mouth. Slowly chew a tablespoon of fennel to freshen your breath and stimulate the production of saliva. You can also drink fennel tea a couple of times a day. To make this tea, steep one or two teaspoons of fennel seeds in a cup of hot water for 5 to 10 minutes. 2. Cinnamon cinnamon contains cinnamic aldehyde, an essential oil that not only covers up bad breath, but also reduces the amount of bacteria in your mouth. To treat bad breath follow this remedy twice daily. Boil one teaspoon of cinnamon powder in a cup of water. You may add some bay leaves and cardamom too. Strain the solution and use it as a mouth rinse to refresh your breath. 3. Fenugreek fenugreek tea is highly effective when bad breath is caused by catarrhal infections. Boil a teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in a cup of water. Strain and drink this tea once daily until you get rid of the problem. 4. Cloves cloves help freshen your breath and also have antibacterial properties that are very helpful in getting rid of bad breath. The easiest method is to pop a few pieces of cloves into your mouth and chew them thoroughly. This will eliminate bad breath in a few minutes. You can also make clove tea. Boil a cup of water, add one teaspoon of ground cloves and allow it to simmer for 5 to 10 minutes. Drink the tea or use it as a mouthwash twice a day. 5. Parsley parsley contains chlorophyll that can help neutralize bad breath. Simply chew on a fresh parsley sprig to refresh your breath. You can also dip this herb in vinegar and then chew it thoroughly. Another option is to put parsley leaves through a juicer and sip the juice anytime you need to refresh your breath. It will also aid digestion. 6. Lemon juice curing bad breath with a lemon rinse has been used for generations. The acidic content in lemons prevents growth of bacteria in your mouth. Plus, its strong pleasant smell helps mask the bad odor. Just stir one tablespoon of lemon juice into a cup of water and rinse your mouth with it. You can also add a bit of salt to it and then use it. This remedy will help to solve the problem of dry mouth which is one of the main reasons that contribute to bad breath. Apple cider vinegar due to its ph balancing effects, apple cider vinegar makes a wonderful remedy for bad breath. You can try any of these remedies depending on your preference. Stir one tablespoon of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar into a glass of water and drink it before eating your meals. The vinegar will help in digestion as well as cure bad breath. Gargle with apple cider vinegar mixed in a cup of water. 8. Baking sodabaking soda, also known as bicarbonate of soda, is another great solution for getting rid of and preventing bad breath. It helps balance the levels of acid that contribute to bad breath. Plus, it fights oral bacteria that cause bad breath. Mix one-half teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of warm water and use it as a mouth rinse once daily until you are satisfied with the results. Brushing your teeth with baking soda will also help reduce the acidity in your mouth and prevent bacteria from building up on your tongue. Tea tree oil tea tree oil has antiseptic properties that act like a powerful disinfectant for your mouth. You can get the benefits from tea tree oil in a variety of ways. Brush your teeth with a toothpaste containing tea tree oil. Another option is to put a few drops of tea tree oil on your toothbrush along with your regular toothpaste. You can also mix a few drops of tea tree oil, peppermint oil and lemon oil in a glass of water and use it as a mouthwash. 10. Tea normal as well as herbal teas can also help combat bad breath. The antioxidant polyphenols present in both green and black tea can stop the growth of bacteria responsible for bad breath. You can also opt for an herbal tea like sage tea. To make this tea, steep one teaspoon of dried sage in a cup of hot water for five minutes. Strain and drink this tea several times a day to keep your breath fresh. If your bad breath persists even after trying these natural treatments, consult a doctor or dentist to see if there is a more serious underlying problem.

I am having teeth problem is. When drink hot or cold liquid I get pain in upper jaw teeth M .K laxmi.
It is because of the teeth sensitivity... because the cementum in your tooth has become deficient.. and the nerves have become open... You have to take treatment and no toothpaste can cure it... so don't fall into the traps of the advertisement and take proper treatment.... As a home remedy you can massage your gums with turmeric and a little salt... And you can also start homoeopathic treatment...

Hello, Firstly you need to get rid of your habit as this is cause of your limited mouth opening. Secondly you need to consult a doctor in person as thorough check up is required. Avoid eating spicy food and you will have to be put on medications to help increase your mouth opening. This is not a good sign and hence you have to stop your habit immediately.

Inflammation in the gums gives birth to a mild form of gum disease known as gingivitis. But it can be treated easily by brushing and flossing daily and getting dental cleaning done regularly.

I am 26 years old. I have tooth mobility problem since 3 months. Mobility is about 1mm. What should I do now?

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Tooth mobility could be due to periodontitis. Periodontitis can be easily treated by simple gum surgery. Please visit a dental professional asap.
