My son who is 5 years gets lot of burps and has gas. Occasionally complaints of stomach pain. Any home remedy please.

MD - Paediatrics
Pediatrician, Kolkata
Gas formation may be due to maldigestion of some particular food item. Its best to avoid such identified food items. If not possible them digestive enzymes or simethicone after foods might help.

How to build confidence, self-assurance and self-esteem in Kids

Post graduate in counselling psychology
Psychologist,
How to build confidence, self-assurance and self-esteem in Kids
Confidence is a child’s passport to a lifetime of positive mental health, social happiness and long-term academic & professional progress. In other words self-assurance and self-esteem during childhood can be termed as the foundation for every child to lead a positive life and to get well prepared for the future.

However, in today’s demanding academic structure, it is not easy for a child to maintain a good confidence level, from competing nursery admission to weekly school tests, today’s child goes through numerous examinations, almost every day in his/her life and he/she is being judged both at home and outside. According to child psychologist Shivani Misri Sadhoo, oral communication alone by parents is not enough to build confidence in kids, she shares some important parenting tips that will help parents in this area:

1. Allow your child to make decisions:

When your child gets the chance to make choices from a young age, he/she will build confidence in their own judgement. Just consider the age of your child and set their decision-making parameters accordingly. Like, you may ask your 4 years old son or daughter what he /she would like to have in breakfast, an omelette or fruits or chapattis, instead of asking a broad question like “what you will have in your breakfast”, which they will likely to give you an answer either from their imagination or from their list of yummy foods (generally cake, chocolates or junk food).

2. Avoid always rescuing your child

For parents, the desire to prevent their child from getting hurt, feeling discouraged, feeling upset or making mistakes is natural, but when parents intervene, say if the parents go to their child’s school and pressure the cultural teacher to take their child in dance team (which he/she was not selected) then parents are doing something which is not right.

This is normal dear. It is possible sometimes that by birth you have less fatty tissue insulation in hands. Where veins don't have that subcutaneous fat base which fixes the vein and allows less movement. But if it is not so than also is fine, it is not counted as any disease at all. So enjoy.

Dear lybrate-user. We usually don't prescribe antibiotics until it's very much needed. All you need is careful handling of the situation. Protect him from cold. Cover her nicely. Take drops Tminic or Cminic 3 times a day. 1 ml. Give him little warm water. Breast feed him. It will boost his immunity. And revert me back with report that you have gone through.

Please send the reports to me so as to understand all details. Hyperammonemia is a metabolic condition characterized by elevated levels of ammonia in the blood. Increased entry of ammonia to the brain is a primary cause of neurologic disorders, such as congenital deficiencies of urea cycle enzymes, hepatic encephalopathies, reye syndrome, several other metabolic disorders, and some toxic encephalopathies.

My Kid is having teeth problem (swallow teeth due to bottle feeding but not know) I have consult the doctor near by they suggested the root canal for 5 yrs old kid is it ok to go for root canal into early age. Bcoz its only a milk teeth.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
I dont think that an RCT is required until and ulness there is some serious nerve damage from where the teeth accidentally came out. The milk teeth are shed from 6 years onwards till about 10 years of age. The permanent teeth appear by 6 years of age. Between the ages of 6 - 9 years the child has some milk teeth as well as some permanent teeth This period is called the mixed dentition period. By about 12 years all the milk teeth should be shed off and replaced by the permanent teeth.

Generallychildren ahving fever will be fussy aout eating and drinking. Once the temperature comes down they will be fine. So do not let the temperature go up often, keep giving paracetamol syrup in intervals of 4-6 hours, try to feed them what they like when they are off temperature.
